  1. I would chectk the injectors before blaming the pump lift the valve covers off and pop out each injector hold down check for fuel on top of each injector! Injector oring failure will cause this as well!
  2. Vaporized By engine heat! Your valve covers will likely be full of goo depending on how long this has been going on! Heat rises nature of the beast! It will likely be coming from around the outside of the liner silicone is used to seal the lower liner lip ! We've had very few oil cooler issues! head plugs can leak as well however very remote!
  3. YUP ! Agreed Just as a note If you Do Preselect your (split) however you need to make your shift immediately to avoid damage to the shift fork on EITHER OR transmission!
  4. We just installed a clutch supplied by the customer from paccar http://www.eaton.com/us/en-us/catalog/clutches-and-brakes/easy-pedal-advantage-clutch.html available in Variety of ratings up to 2250 torque Very reasonably priced worth looking into in my mind! Our Mack/Volvo parts people couldn't come close in pricing!
  5. I personally would be more concerned about the anifreeze situation You need to pull the pan and put a pressure test on the cooling system to identify wear the coolant has come from! Oil cooler? or Liners are the common areas There are some other areas of interest Not as likly but not worth mentioning till you check The first step Specially if this has just started!
  6. I agree with tech Very common in cold climates ! And if the engine has been Idled for hours on end ! Sometimes you have no choice , how ever Idling is not good for any engine And twice as bad for a diesel of any brand ! specially after a rebuild, it's Called wet stacking! Don't IDLE IT ! Even idling it at 1200 is not loading the engine enough to make the rings seat properly! When I do A rebuild I like to have a loaded trailer out side the building ready too haul Warm it up operating temp, slam it under the trailer and gently work the shit out of the engine for the first several hours !Then put the hammer down ! Even driving a couple of miles to the yard to pu a load is wasting valuable break in time in my mind.We proved this dozens of times with trucks delivered by ground the trucks that had been road delivered to the dealership with nothing on their back would burn oil from the get go! The trucks that hauled two or three trucks stacked to the dealership burned no oil because they had worked for the first 5 thousand miles! The sooner you work em the better break in ! Just sayin! 😁
  7. Yup Said I have seen it done Not by any means recommending it That said if you were to leave the joint at the turbo base free you would have your expansion covered!
  8. Usually your best bet is to disturb just the elbows you'll need to remove the motor mount on the side your working on and jack the engine up to get to the bolts! The bolts will likely be seized so soak em down with penetrating oil for a few days and have a torch handy cause your likely to have a fight on your hands ! When and if you get this elbow off install new seal ( piston rings) and assemble with High temp silicone this fix will work for only a while as usually everything will be worn from vibration the only real way to seal these is to replace the elbows or if you can find a machine shop that can sleeve them !THEY ARE HARD TO FIND AND PRICEY if you do find them! I have also seen them welded Good luck with it!
  9. Bottom line is at the time they found someone that could build a cheap line to replace the original vendors line! They were hurting for money at that point it was just before the swedes bought in and they were cutting corners to save a buck! It didn't work! They spent more money trying to fix the problem than had they stuck with the original supplier!Poor design poor quality materials! just My observation! We had zero problems to that point! They have obviously now enhanced the dollarstore line we now have very few if any issues! If any!
  10. Yup look no farther than a faulty fuel line as stated above they a trash! They changed to a dollar store supplier back in or around the time the ac ai engines production began !These lines were a one use line! And even At that they failed!
  11. There is a lock out pin in the shift knob on the range lever remove it!
  12. Yes and no! i'm sure there are more forces at work here that I know about However! In ( my opinion) the design of the hold down is flawed ! Bolt is to small on the hold down for starters and the leverage on the injector is borderline for the job its doing ! And they have jumped from the pot into the fire by changing from the flat washer seal to the tapper seal exposing more surface area to combustion pressure ! But I would admit to not being an engineer ! Just an observer!😁
  13. And the oil level sensor and the blow by sensor! Just sayin check all of them dollarstore sensors! Off subject a bit but still related to the dollarstore comment ,we had headlight issue on a truck here yesterday the day time running lights did not function installed a new module still no worky checked the wiring and vecu OK tryed Another new module no worky ! Cowoeker had a good runner module stashed in his collection of breakers and spare parts BINGO Work like A charm! exsact same number tryed another DLR from our stock nope no worky got to send the whole works back to the Volvo /Mack superdollarstore for credit and go to PAI to by parts I guess????
  14. Don't get me wrong either I have absolutely no use for most politicians! Specially silver spooners!! How ever my first comment still stands in my mind the attitude of society has changed in the last 10 years finally ! However The timing of sum of these events as of late is questionable ! The length of time between the alleged crime and now is a bit extreme! This stuff is happening way to often as of late !had she brought the subject up even 5 years ago It would have been more credible In my mind And we likley would not be talking about this here today!
  15. Bummer! Your contributions here are horribly valuable! However! You And I have the same outlook On the product/Industry I believe ! Big race to the bottom.😣
  16. Hey Pro Did you bail ! On your job?
  17. Yup Its sad! if that woman had spoken up years ago It would have been MAYBE somewhat more credible as it is In my mind she wasting everyones time! And screwing with peoples lives!
  18. Probably has a tariff on it or their withholding it Cause we haven't given in to the big dictators nafta demands! 😂
  19. You could have the beginnings of Idle gear failure there You might consider not running it much longer till you have checked into it more closely! expensive shit to repair specially if it craters totally!
  20. Nothing wrong with that vid rider Good job buddy! I didn't listen to the audio! and you may have mentioned this , With just hand tools it would likely take a tad longer than 10 mins but definitely Worth Packing the pieces! A good investment in my opinion .is A battery powered 1/2 inch impact . And an extra deep 3/4 impact socket Made for the release bolt. Makes the job a snap!👍 There are some shortcuts to that project however you got the point across! If A person is smart he/she packs a spare Piggyback kit in the truck !
  21. So I thought I would up date this post a little ! The last diff that I repaired And slathered the bolt with RED locktight lasted approx A year and a half! We replaced that diff with a REMACK Diff That diff lasted 1 Month and a few DAYs !We have since replaced That diff With yet Another REMACK diff at the discretion of the Eservice Guys And Before installation WE Lock tighted the Bolts In Hopes having this poor guy being able to work for a year or so before it blows up again ! 4 Fricking diffs in the time frame of 2 years! Not acceptable in my mind ! Moral of the story! Quit messing with tried and true designs ! Three bolts are better than one!
  22. These days It seems that over 80 percent of most downtime issues are emission related! Correct me If I'm wrong I Believe in the late eighties and early nintey's there was a seven year Warranty on emissions devices imposed on manufacturers ? If manufactures of today we mandated by law and had to source reliable sensors and wiring we would have more reliable equipment! Thoughts anyone!
  23. The timing is done by the computer the pumps are electric the older set up is electricly governed the timing is selected totally by the computer!
  24. Unplug the ecu and check the pins
