  1. A few years ago at work they hired a new janitor. One day he came back in the shop and said he was going across the street to the lumber yard and ask us if we need any thing. One of the mechinces said that he need 10 post holes. About ten min. later he called and ask what size because they had some that was deep and deeper.
  2. Kunuter valves, That reminds me of a night forman one time at freightliner. He ask me what i found wronge with a brake system problem and knowing that he would not understand i told him i adjusted the knuter valve but would have to be replace next time it came in.Some months later i over heard him telling a customer that he may need to bring his truck in and clean and adjust the knuter valve.
  3. That is a resorvoir for putting in shutterstat fluid. The tee shut off is to cut air off the bowl so you can add fuild or if you want the shutters to stay open then cut the air off there. That shutter stat fuild is as hard to find as binker fuild.
  4. Silicone is like a lub and will let the gasket squirt out the side when clamped down plus the silicone some times will get off inside of the egine in glubs and get into the oil pump screen or if used on coolant seals then it will get into the oil cooler or rad.
  5. I had a S60 DD dump truck come in for the same thing and first thing i did was stick my finder in the blow by tube and nothen there but after some checking i notice no blow by at all from the tube. I check some more and found mud up in the tube maybe 6 in in there. The truck had been stuck in mud and the tube hangs down as low as the axle.
  6. Your right cause when i started to work on mack trucks there was a fleet of mixers here that was B models and they had that trans with the end475 and end 465. I have lose track which one was the Scaniny. The other one was used by the military.I will ever forget that bunch of trucks and on top of that they had stopmaster or wedge brakes. Wedge brakes and cemet mixers just dont work out to a good stop.
  7. I do know a 673 diesel and a 707 or as some call it 711 diesel is the same bolt pattern. There is a 707 gas and 707 diesel.
  8. That will be a 2" pull type and dont know but could be a 14" or a 15.5" but you can tell by you self by pulling the dust cover on the bottom and looking in there. The 14" will use a dish flywheel were a 15.5 will use a flat flywheel.
  9. turn the engine to were # 6 intake valve just starts to open and # 1 cly is ready to set intake and exhaust. now turn engine to when # 2 intake opens and # 5 is ready to set. Turn to when #4 is opening and 3 is ready to set. Turn to # 1 intake just starts to open and 6 is readt to set. When # 5 is opening # 2 is ready and when 3 intake starts to open then # 4 is ready to set. You are setting them in the fireing order which is 153624. and you what the mating cylinder vale over lap and the mate is readt to set. # 1 is mate to 6 and 2 and 5 is mating and 3 and 4 is mating. Dont worry about the TDC mark. the valve clearance is on the valve cover.
  10. The way i figure it that may make a man not like women any more so i dont want to see any of his stuff.Rob i think your right its a electric problem or if ir ant it could be .
  11. Yes it could be because you have a switch on the shift stick and switches in the shifter housing.
  12. When i was a kid kerosene was good for ever thing. A spoon full of it and sugar or just straight kerosene was the order for the kids and dogs and even the chickens.
  13. And also not very often this happens but it could have a lose valve seat. If so time will tell. I hate it when you run in to those deals.
  14. Iam glade i live in okla.
  15. Rockwel tryed the same thing with the front end and brakes and u/joints on the century. Sealed front wheel brs and we had them coming in on the hook at 600000 mile pretty often with a wheel missing. Then the cost is not waranty. The fleets have done traded the trucks in and now the one truck customer has to bear the cost.
  16. and use grade 8 on ever thing on a truck unless it is hanging a fender on or holding a mirror on.
  17. I saw it in person a few days ago and it will be a real nice restored truck like i mean in detail and all. Yes the wheels look like knew. The wire harness was a good looking harness. Just think Rick i worked on thoses trucks when they were still in production for your dad. Time has gone by real fast.
  18. Your right. Dont weld on a frame unless you have to. Ever try bolting a crack together? No so you weld it together. And i dont grind the wqeld down on b oth side either. Just so the fish plate will set flat on the side to the frame and the olter side of the frame let the weld stay on the frame.
  19. It should be a Bendix model E 1 or E 2.That will be a single brake circuit.
  20. Most cummins engines of today have 8 digets #s and older engines had 6 diget #s so the 7 diget dont help me none. If this is a real old engine like in the 50s you should go over to ATHS and post and Aaron knows some about the old HR and HBS engines and double and single disc pumps. If that is a 8 diget # i may ne able to ID it for you. glenn
  21. The politicions is the ones that need to be over there figthing the wars. But instead some is the reason for war and some of them are sitting here getting rich off of the kids who are dying for the crooks here that are stealing us to death. I did say some because we need some of them but not all of them. I guess i need to say no more about that.
  22. Its all about greed buddy.
  23. he probley dont own a bolt or nut in the thing so what differece does it make. Some one else will hire him.
  24. I have seen this done on spicer aux but the thing to remenber is when the air cylinger you put on it has a longer stroke than needed you have to make a stop for the stoke to be limted to when the shift is made or overwise the pressure from the cylinder pushing the fork against the sliding clutch will eat the slider and yoke. The fork needs to be held in gear only with the poppet spring and ball. So this need to be calulated and a stop made to limit the travel no more than the poppet location on the rail. I never have looked at one close but a eternal would not be hard to set up.some of the trico air cylinder can have their stroke limited by shorten the barrel that the end plates are bolted to by putting them on a lathe and makeing a cut were needed. I know you will hear some one say they have done it with out doing this but i know extra pressure on the shifter fork will eat the fork.
  25. A spicer air shift has different slideing clutchs and main shaft gears than a manual shift. The contact teeth are cut square on a air shift for a no scrap shift. Dont know if you are trying to put air cylinders on a manual shifter cover or not.
