  1. I understand now i can see. Well electric is hard to understand some time cause you cant see it.But you sure can feel it some times. I like working with air leakes better .It is clean and the air is free and i can hear it. glenn
  2. But on this statment here you can charge that 12 v battery with a 12v charger but one battery at a time but no need in disconnecting it becuse you will connect direct to one battery at a time. Then to charge the other 12 v connect direct to it and charge but no need in disconnecting it.

I guess i misunderstood you but if you have a flash light with 4 battys in it then yes you wouild need a 1.5 v charger and you would connect direct to the battery you wanted to charge and it will charge that battery still connexted to the other but you ant charging thru the others but direct to the one battery.

Think about this ,if you have many 12 volt batterys connected to each other any way you want to connect them ,then you can pick out any one of them and put a 12 volt charger on it and charge it with out disconnecting it. This is been a thought many people have had thru my working years as a truck mechanic and it is hard for some one to understand i guess but you do nor have to diconnect any battery to charge on any setup. You are only charging into that battery. You can charge it when the truck is rtunning or not running.You can charge it when it is cranking .
  5. If you are going to charge a battery you will connect neg charger cable to neg side of battery and pos charger cable to pos side of battery.You are charging the battery not the truck so it dont matter if it is on the ground or connected to the truck, You are only charging the battery.
  6. My 2 cants worth. If you have a cap running next to a non cap i think the cap will have as good luck as the tire it is run next to untill you have a low air pressure problem and run them low on a hot day grossing max then the cap will go nuts before the non cap. The cap is more than likely going to get a leak before the non cap. I have a freind that runs about 50 dry box and refers and he has good luck with caps. When i put a truck on the road i had two caps i tryed and both blowed their caps . If you run local then i seen no problem. But when you are running hurry up and go loads and ant got no time to play with like so many of the freight then stay away from caps. If you are going to run caps then get them on in cold weather. I look for DOT to out law them. But i know guys that have used them for along time so then OHWELL.
  7. Check with mack or a gear builder. You can get a front unit like on some concrete mixer trucks that has a direct drive thru instead of having a power diver. I have worked on them years ago but can tell you what you need. I think the thru shaft is different as well as the imput on the front pinion will be all different as well as maybe the front seal and brg retainer.But alot of mixer trucks had them.
  8. I have seen glad hands at the back of the frame for pulling oil fiel trailers. Years ago a oil field trailer was dromed to the ground at the nose to drag loads up on it it so you need the front of it clear of air lines. Those trailer had folding legs instead of crank up gears. Some trailers that haul pipe would have the air ines connected to the rear of the frame so the over hang of the load would not get into the air lines. JEEPS AND STINGERS USED THE AIR LINES BACK THERE SOME TIMES>

  10. Then with bad engine or cab mounts it can be worse. I have been know to get away from the throdle rod linage and go with a small push pull cable and it makes so much difference.The american bosch governor has a slip clutch that some times is too tight and will make them toughey.

  12. I dont know when they stopped building the 465 but it was just a baby looking 673. The 475 there in the photo i remenber on the left side for a oil filter it was a centrifical spiner.

A good fast check to see if it is in the govenor is take stop cable off of stop laver and when you are standing there playing with the throdle say mid rpm and it is acting up then turn the stop lever to no fuel postion enough to start to cut the rpm back and if it is stabe and smooth then you have governor problems.
  14. No i have never had one apart and dont know that i have even changed one of them. The V8s were not many around here.Some but not like the inline.Back in the 60s there were more of the little end 465 and end 475 than V8s. 475i think was the scania engine. The lttle 465 was a small inline like a end673.

  16. That line in the photo is teed into the manifold, what it leak air into the intake and lose prssure from the trans?
  17. There may be a check valve between the tank and compressor. At one time trucks had that but some dont use it.
  18. welcome on this site i my self have been working on macks for along time. I worked on the B model two years when it was in production. Alot of truckers dont know how good a truck mack was. I have built for my self two old B models.
  19. I have installed i think two of them years ago but cant say how they worked out. I think it would help some.
  20. If you guys check with mack i think you can buy the filter kits cheaper than buying them one at a time. I know i can here.
  21. Rob has the problem solved air it up from the compressor end and see what happens. Also there maybe a check valve in the first tank from the compressor that is carbon up. The way to check the air governor to see if it is bad is unbolt from compressor and it will pump if governor is bad or if it ant on the compressor then take the line off to the compressor and it should pump air if bad. But by all means air up first and that way you want be guessing and buying parts that is not bad. Keep in mine there still can be a problem with the compressor. glenn
  22. Does that air line go to a valve on the intake manifold?

  24. And also to is it the parking brakes or service brakes hanging. One way to tell if it is the service brakes is, is the stop lights on when they should not be and you can crack a service brake line on the rear to find if you have air. The most common problem is the treadle may be sticking by the pin being frozen. Another thing is the foot valve or relay on the back may be bad and not releasing all the way. If all of the brakes are dragging then you may have foot valve air when it should not. glenn
  25. Rob the exspresniance that you got on that trans is the best that you cant get. If it ant right redo it, if it breaks you pay for it and in the end you remenber it. I have been a seft taught.
