  1. Can you get it rebuilt and lined locally?
  2. I think if you go with bubble mirrors got to get the Mack logo but I think another option would be flat back stainless. Have you thought about getting a powder coat kit from HF inexpensive option for small stuff. Eastwood's is also on sale If you read the reviews the HF one seems to be the same. Hit the thrift store and pick up a toaster oven or old kitchen stove and your in business. Probably less money than sending out for paint or powder coating. http://www.harborfreight.com/10-30-psi-powder-coating-system-94244.html http://www.eastwood.com/original-hotcoat-powdercoating-gun.html
  3. I was surfing the inter-web and came across a 1989 Mack RD688S vin#2M2P141C1KC007994 for sale. It is a dump truck and I was surprised it was so light spec'd according to the right up. Front Axle Weight 12,000 lb Rear Axle Weight 38,000 lb Most of the RDs I see posted are a lot heaver with double frames 44K or 46K rears , 14K to 20K fronts 8LL trans or 10 speeds. So I suppose the bigger question would be what is the difference between this RD and a R? As this one seems to have similar specs to my old 1980 R road tractor.
  4. Check the u bolts and spring pads, more than likely they are loose. There is a reason that the axle cracked, check around the spring pad for cracks.
  5. Looks like the floor been replaced or am I imagining it? Sure is in better shape than I would have thought plowing snow all thoses years.
  6. Man you all have some real nice weather, we are lucky to get into the 50's
  7. congrats on getting it out, now take a hot bath and warm up!
  8. I think it depends on year and engines my 78 mounts on the frame like yours and connects to the front of the radiator but it has a cummins and a different radiator than a Mack or Cat motor.
  9. Nice looking truck and colors. Why does the stripping go at an angle on the door are they paving contractors so it looks like a road?
  10. Check out RanchHopper he had some and could ship them for cheaper that you could probably get them mounted for.
  11. I got a 250k torpedo heater if you want to borrow it. You will be able to work in your underwear outside just have to point it at you.
  12. Good example Vlad. I am sure it also has something to do with how heavy the front end is also, if it is a 12k front axle it will sit a lot different than a 20K especially with no load and not worn out.
  13. The old R looks good going to work
  14. Sources for Owners manuals = Contact the Mack Museum http://www.macktruckshistoricalmuseum.org/ Send them your info and truck vin and they will send you a package with build sheets and manuals, then send them a donation.
  15. They should hire a little person to drive it.
  16. Not sure how many of you have HBO but I record this and watched it last night "VICE Special Report: Fighting ISIS" Some of it is on youtube and you can see some at the HBO website.
  17. I bet a local upholstery place would sell some, there is a place online that sells it but it the shipping that kills it. This is where I was going to buy it before I found National Fabric. I purchased all the material for the Superliner at Hancock Fabric, they sell remnant vinyl for $5 a yard and have 60" headliner materiel, was less expensive than National and a lot closer. Make sure to by the heavy mil automotive grade, you will be able to tell. You can sew on a regular HD sewing machine, just take your time. http://www.perfectfit.com/15347/Chipboard-Car-Panelboard.html
  18. National Fabrics 901 S. 7th St. Kansas City, Kansas 66105 Phone: 913-281-1833 Fax: 913-281-1851 Like $5 a sheet
  19. That is a big sleeper, where was that hiding?
  20. They caucus differently by party
  21. Here in KC #1 MOTOR CAST is $120 a ton so maybe $175 is all its worth with the transmission
