  1. He is in it for his Ego and Power. Explain how he is going to deport millions of illegals? The same unconstitutional way Obama is trying to allow them in by Executive order? Or perhaps how will he make a sovereign nation pay for a border wall? Will he use intimidation and military force? He does not give any explanation for how he is going to do anything. What is his plan to combat ISIS? Bomb the $hit out of them, really? How is he going to create jobs in America, by strong arming Ford and Apple? Are you are willing to trade one dictator for another? He also wants single payer Health care http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/09/28/trump-pushes-single-payer-healthcare-tax-increase-on-wealthy/
  2. Looking good. What did you use to clean up the tanks?
  3. I have never heard of that calculation. The 400 Cummins <(Previous Owner and build sheet)> in the Superliner which I am not sure if it is a 350 or 400 <(depending on the valve cover writing you believe that was paint marked on the valve cover)> boost needle will jump up to 30 + lbs of boost, which means it is at least a 600hp engine. 1lb Boost =20hp x 30lbs boost I guess its a Hot Rod!
  4. I don't trust him either, I think he is in it for himself. He really does not know the issues and the more I listen to him he talks about himself, says an off hand remark about an issue than something about it needs to be fixed than moves on to the next thing with out explaining what he will do to make it better. He sounds like this guy.
  5. Sweet old truck. I see your name on it up at the top. Which are you standing on the platform or in the trailer?
  6. That is a great question all the Cummins service manuals I have do not discuss any specific pressure. Talks about low boost in trouble shooting and exhaust smoke and goes through the symptoms and steps from checking to see if it is the correct turbo to cleaning the air intake to checking exhaust restrictions. The manuals tell how to check and replace the turbo and where to check for leaks and pressure test the seals but nothing about a specific boost pressure. Call Cummins and ask the service counter.
  7. my $.02 Engine- I doubt it matters what you fill first engine or filter as long as it gets filled and you pre-soak the filter Transmission -There should be two fill plugs on passenger side one about 3/4 up that has magnet second one about 1/3 which is the fill plug fill till it is full to the lower plug. Take the high plug out and clean it. Fuel- Best to pre-soak and fill make it easy for priming and flow. Coolant- You got it. Anything else- Yes I would pre-lube the turbo and I would also pre-lube the engine if at all possible. Not sure how much assembly lube you put on everything or how you soaked the valve train so I would try and use a pressure tank for pre-lube ((This guy shows how to make a cheap one for about $30 or less depending on your hoarding skills)) If you think you pre-lubed everything up good I would at least crank the motor over to build oil pressure before messing with the fuel to make sure that it won't start.
  8. I like the color looks sharp. Need to get the hired man to polish the tanks!
  9. probably all nerved up from the DOT inspection.
  10. Looks like awesome trip. Getting 30 of them they should have had four beauties carting you around in a sedan chair while feeding you grapes, . That would have been the "Royal Tour"!
  11. I was watching the "Worlds Deadliest Job Interview" last night and one of the interviewees was trying out for a $190,000 a year company driver job in Texas. Didn't have anything like that to move. I thought I might get into Heavy Haul for that kind of money. They are even looking for drivers! http://greentreetruck.com/index.html
  12. I agree with Paul and Glens comments on losing prime. If you pumped it up and it started that means you are losing fuel back to the tank. I would check the lift or transfer pump first and fix the leaks as allowing air in the system only makes it worse. Had an R had the same problem if it sat for more than a day, unfortunately for me I did not have primer until I changed out the transfer pump and was a PIA to get started. It had a seal that was bad and allowed air in the system and allowed the fuel to siphon back to the tank on the inlet side and would pull the fuel out of the filters back to the tank. You could add two cheap shut offs and see which side is bleeding back and figure out from where. I would almost bet it is at the lift/transfer pump that is allowing it to drain back.
  13. I bought and sold a couple houses during that time. First house September 2007 was sitting empty for about a 6 months and made offer to the builder at $140K, after I retired from the Army sold it for $298K in July 2009 and moved to Kansas City Area. We bought a house in July 2009 that a property company got at a foreclosure auction in 2008. We paid exactly what they paid for it at the foreclosure auction. $232K, according to Zillow it is worth $337,595 a 45% gain since 2009 and Zillow foretasted in the next year a 3.2% gain in value to be $348,499. Point being I am not a real estate expert but all of those people who walked away should have stuck it out as with everything eventually the market will correct. You also have to have a place to live. I read a lot about the real estate market at that time and most people walked away from the houses and started paying rent at nearly the same dollar amount. With the vast majority only saving the home ownership maintenance costs. We have a home warranty we kept up with and although it costs about $500 a year it has replaced our A/C and fixed the furnace and a few other things. I was looking for some pictures of the house I bought in 2007. Then when we got ready to sell in 2009.
  14. I think it looks awesome, keep at it and post more pictures. What is the history of the truck and how long have you been working on it?
  15. Looks good. I now see the floor panels. Have you been hauling any dirt?
  16. I have noticed that I no longer get the email notices to threads that I follow been a few weeks figured it was a setting went and deleted them all saved it and re configured the settings and still no luck. I was nice getting the emails and notification of a pm in the email inbox.
  17. So the cams in the 300s were soft? First I ever heard of those engines having cam issues. Have not seen anything really posted on here about that. Any experts on why and the fix?
  18. Did you get it? Great deal for $710,do a go fund me page for towing!
  19. Hope you get it. Looks pretty crusty but if it stays low would be well worth it.
  20. I looked up and called the original owner (power of the internet and sticker residue) he said they were ordered as dumps to haul asphalt on road and seen very little off road use. So as TJC said, apparently a lot of people had the same idea. In his case he said he kept the the two trucks until last fall when they were sold to a truck wholesaler who sold them to another guy that has a used truck lot. They guy was really nice and said they never had any problem with them until last fall and one developed a miss, they thought it was an injector turned out to be the cam and that was when the decision to part with them was made.
  21. Can you get it rebuilt and lined locally?
  22. I think if you go with bubble mirrors got to get the Mack logo but I think another option would be flat back stainless. Have you thought about getting a powder coat kit from HF inexpensive option for small stuff. Eastwood's is also on sale If you read the reviews the HF one seems to be the same. Hit the thrift store and pick up a toaster oven or old kitchen stove and your in business. Probably less money than sending out for paint or powder coating. http://www.harborfreight.com/10-30-psi-powder-coating-system-94244.html http://www.eastwood.com/original-hotcoat-powdercoating-gun.html
  23. I was surfing the inter-web and came across a 1989 Mack RD688S vin#2M2P141C1KC007994 for sale. It is a dump truck and I was surprised it was so light spec'd according to the right up. Front Axle Weight 12,000 lb Rear Axle Weight 38,000 lb Most of the RDs I see posted are a lot heaver with double frames 44K or 46K rears , 14K to 20K fronts 8LL trans or 10 speeds. So I suppose the bigger question would be what is the difference between this RD and a R? As this one seems to have similar specs to my old 1980 R road tractor.
