Just to complicate things sometimes S stands for single reduction rear.   I’ve seen it in fire trucks but might have been used in other models. 
 

But with B’s and Ram’s before the long vin the S was for six wheels. There has to be a table somewhere with all this in it.

single axle DM's  would be DM611X. looked at one today at truck show in Bethlehem CT specifically to see model . NOT  DM === T's.

i believe i did read that,somewhere,,,i think one of my mack manuals explains all of the letters and explanations havent had time to pull them out but now im very curious,,,,off to the GYM,,bob
