Going from an R to a CH is a big jump, camelback to airride is a big change too.

I have an 85 and I'm looking at a 99, I already know I'll like the 85 better, I felt the same way from my 84 to my 93.

One thing I know has you concerned is the extra lean with the air ride. My first days had me thinking I'm gonna roll this.

also, when dumping you have to be on nice level ground.

If there is a special reason (engine, trans., rust) that you have to shut the R down, then do what you have to do. BUT, if no other reason than a newer truck, stay old school

Ur damed if u do and damed if you dont. I have some old timers that work with me and for years they swore they would never get a newer truck and they would keep there R models (which is a great truck in my opion) Today most of them have chs and granites and now they cant believe how they drove a r model for so long and not get the newer truck sooner.

camelback will walk all over air due to the travel available.

Engine shuts down to quick? do you mean when sitting at an idle? If so, that can be changed in the computer
