  1. Welcome. An oil analysis is a good idea. It lets you know a lot about your engine. I always have one done on anything that I buy used on the first oil change. The last one cost about $22.00 plus postage. Blackstone Labs in IN.
  2. Truck is complete except for steering wheel and radiator cap.
  3. I have a B 83 SX ,220 Cummings quad, power steering, Truck is rough but savable . Hasn't run in two years. I think a 100k fifth wheel. No title $2000 offer. Delivery possible 513 889 7777.
  4. Was just looking at the earlier post of New Hampshire Macks and noticed the picture of the black R model " Deere Express" I saw it at the Two Cylinder Expo at New Boston for three days and once at the air port restaurant at Manchester. I wonder who owned it as I never caught up with the owner. Great looking truck.
  5. Great work and a good idea. Thought about doing the same thing on my B. Have to get every thing back together first. Things have slowed due to the weather.
  6. If you still have the 24 volt system just follow the wiring diagram from the starter button mention above in the wiki section. I think in most systems the ignition switch is in the charging system for now you do not need it. With out looking at the diagram I think all you need to do is pull the batteries in series to get 24 volts to the starter. This should mean power to both solenoids if the cables are correct.
  7. I am confused. Are you just trying to turn the motor over to build oil pressure and not starting the motor until you have oil pressure ?
  8. Enjoyed the pictures. Any chains required ?
  9. Congratulations. I have three now nothing like them.
  10. Great job I like the blue. What paint and primer did you use on the frame.?
  11. Great pictures. Hope someone saves the F model.
  12. I do not under stand I got a set of 1/2" drive sockets craftsman for graduation from H.S. Years later the ratchet failed then the breaker bar , ok due to the use. Lost count of the times these have bin replaced. My grandfather gave me a set of Mack W.W. Two vintage that have never failed. I gave these to my son. I think he will be able to give to his son.
  13. I want to remove the clutch from my B 61 but have a question. The service manual reads " Use three spring retention tools ( 17- T-1123 or retaining cups ) when removing assembly" . Just can not figure this out looks like every other clutch I have worked on. Thanks for any advise.
  14. Thanks everyone for the advise. It makes sense to pull the engine and trans at this point. The size of this is somewhat overwhelming. I think I will split it and pull as two separate units. I have some concerns on line up on reassembly but will deal with that when the time comes.
  15. Had planed to stop disassembly at this point to clean and paint frame. The truck was used to pull an asphalt tanker and spread it. It has asphalt and gravel almost every where. Had about 2" on the springs which I got off . The inside of the frame is packed in places. I plan to change motor mounts. Thought about pulling the engine and trans as a unit to clean. Can this be done or would it be better to split. Where and are best places to lift from ?
  16. Just a thought. Would it be possible to get some phosphoric acid to seep down between the drum and concrete then bust the concrete out in chunks ?
  17. I got mine off with a 2' x 2' sheet of plywood on the seat. Built a frame using 2- 1x4s with a 2x4 on the bottom. the frame was triangular shaped with the 1x4 s resting on the dash and under two spokes on the steering wheel . Between the plywood and the 2x4 I put a bottle jack. The seat went down a few inches but kept pressure on the wheel. After a few days of soaking with P B blaster and taping with a wood block and hammer no results. I heated the center carefully with a torch, let cool more blaster and a brass drift it came loose. I think the secret is a straight up even pull and taping down with the drift. I hope you can make sense of the description.
  18. Pulled the truck out to pressure wash. Most likely last sunny and warm day for a while.
  19. The mill where I worked an owner operator put a truck and trailer in a ditch to avoid an accident. The cruse control stuck coming up on an accident on the hwy. Long story short towing and storage bill was more than the truck and trailer was worth. He just walked away from it let the towing have it.
