  1. I do not expect anything to change. The administration is not bound by the laws. They do as they wish and have gotten by with it. I wish someone could hold these people accountable.
  2. Great pictures. The suburban looks clean.
  3. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. May try to attend this show next year.
  4. The old generator bracket should work. I used one with some 1/2 " all thread and mounted a 22SI 12 volt 125 amp. alternator. Some use the 21SI alternator but the 22SI was cheaper. I used a 42mt starter. The 39mt may have better as I had some clearance issues with the vent pipe. The shop where I got the starter said the 39mt was a gear reduction starter which would have more torque but the 42mt should spin faster with enough battery. Nice find on the truck.
  5. I use diesel fuel or K-1 mixed with Gunk super concentrate degreaser. One quart makes 2 1/2 gallons. Washes off with water almost oil free when done.
  6. Vladislav mentioned something about copper tubing that still confuses me. I went to a pluming supply store to get 3/4" tubing for the intake on the air compressor on my B model. They looked at my old piece and said it was air conditioning tubing. Their 3/4" tubing was 7/8". I thought tubing was O.D and pipe was I.D.
  7. Was the coal tipple in use or closed? Looks to be in good condition?
  8. Good information. Like Vladislav said needs to be in the Wiki section for future reference. I worry that some day a lot of good information will be lost.
  9. I agree with farmer52. I was there and had a great time enjoyed looking at the old equipment in their yard and the tools in the shop. Well worth the trip.
  10. Sandblasted and painted my fuel tanks. Does anyone know what was used originally as an insulator between the tank and strap. When I removed them it looked like electrical tape was used.
  11. What about the B 86 . The photo archives list 5 made. No pictures. There is a picture of a B 85 MOCK-UP. Has anyone ever seen a B 86 ?
  12. Read with interest. One question how much 3M Strip-Calk and where applied other than the pinch weld area ?
  13. Thanks all. I put in a couple of qts. of Murphys Soap Oil sloshed it around and let set then flushed out. this seemed to clean most of the crud out. There was not as much rust as I thought. Added a gallon of muriatic acid flushed out then neutralized with backing soda. By now the tanks look good inside. Called the maker of OSPHO. They said that people have used this for years for rust in fuel tanks with no complaints. I put in a gallon of OSPHO and let set sloshed around and let set overnight per their instructions. Drained and letting everything dry now. I am satisfied with what I see now.
  14. Mike D. One thing I remembered was I had a clearance problem and had to bend the vent pipe & fab. a new mount. You can rotate the starter and move it in a number of small steps. The solenoid was always it the way. A 50 or 39 may have ben better. You may or may not have more room on your Cummings.
  15. Relining is the way to go. But I want to remove the rust first.
  16. I changed mine over to a 42 MT 12 volt starter. I made sure the battery cables were in parallel as I had to move the batteries. When I bought the starter they suggested I put in an extra solenoid between the starter button and starter solenoid. Did not have any problems but only used it a couple of times. Since have removed all the wiring as it was a real mess.
  17. Mine had one on it when I bought it. Bracket was made from some angle iron. Any good electrical repair shop could get you the correct size.
  18. Enjoyed the pictures. What is the old building in Arrington VA. ?
  19. Since I have the tanks off my B model I would try to get small amount of rust off the inside. I have read some use muriatic acid other say not to use it can cause flash rust after neutralizing. Thought about using Ospho but have read it may leave a zinc residue. Any advice would be appreciated.
