  1. To hell with the swimmin' pool buy a raft and life vests. Hope all are doing as well as can be expected.
  2. I was coming down from the border with a load a couple years ago and luckily the flagged caught me when he did because that was the last place to pull a train off of the road for a few miles. After waiting about 45 minutes a megaload that was wider than the two lane highway and I'd guess approaching 18-20' tall goes by. One tri-drive pulling and a tandem pushing with the local tow truck (L9000) pushing it. On my way back there is a really steep, fairly short hill and I could see where they powered and then you could see where the pull truck literally spun his wheels and gouged into the black top 1/2"-3/4" then left a streak all the way to the top where you could see his tracks where he peeled the chip seal right off. The build those megaloads just 20 miles from the boarder then haul them across and rumor was that load was between 550k lbs and 600k lbs.
  3. Pretty good driving in my opinion. Nothing worse than having to let off the throttle to steer when you desperately need the power/momentum to make it. I deal with that situation in the gumbo over here. Lock the power divider and lockers in while chained up and she doesn't want to turn, I leave the jakes on so I can quickly let off the throttle and with my tires turned the jakes kick in and sort of yank the front end over. It's always an interesting line to ride, let off too much and you're stuck in the mud, don't let off the throttle the truck doesn't go where I want it too. I guess it keeps things interesting. https://youtu.be/qH_s5kQQVm0
  4. Came across this video this morning of a Detroit singing. I love the sound of those old two strokes. Fwd eat your heart out 😄
  5. I figured there would be lots of accidents from rubberneckers checking out the scenery 😁
  6. Are there a lot of boat accidents there?😁
  7. This looks like it would be a blast to drive in the city. Little, nimble and seems to be pretty dang fast too.
  8. I agree, most people throw big 4 barrel carburetor and some slick looking valve covers on and a set of headers and think that makes a 300+hp car. I get a kick out watching the hotrod or super car fail videos on YouTube. It's usually some boob with the money to go buy a high hp car but has likely never driven anything more powerful than his Camry. Most end when the driver gooses it and loses traction then either over corrects or stands on the skid pedal until said object they were trying to avoid stops them. Keep us up in your progress, I enjoy cheap fun.
  9. Yeah it is, NRE puts 2 injectors per cylinder, one for pump gas and one for race gas once a certain amount of boost is reached. Very clever set up in my opinion. I couldn't imagine what one of his custom, in house built twin turbo 427 Chevy small blocks he builds costs but I'm sure it's an arm and a leg.
  10. As I'm reading this I have one German shepherd laying in my wife's spot on the bed next to me and two others making sure the dog beds don't float away.
  11. Going from cheap fun to not so cheap fun. If I ever win the lotto....
  12. You've got to remember here it's really dusty right now from harvest going on and hazy from the smoke. Earlier in the summer before fires and harvest it was nice and blue. Same as winter here, we get sunshine and bluebird days most of the winter unlike the flathead.
  13. my brother put a 455 olds that he hopped up in a 77 Chevy 2wd short box. It was lowered a bit, had some lo pro sticky tires and a decent suspension and the thing drove like a flipping go kart with all the torque a person could want to play with.
  14. Do you have any pics of the truck that you can post? (Hint hint hint) 😁
  15. A few pics of an old binder, big gas job, I think it's just a 5sp with a 2sp rear end. Big Braden winch. It was an old oilfield truck that was bought in the early 90's. It had a tilt bed trailer and would haul a D6b around on it. Then it got retired to being a boom truck around the shop.
  16. After reading EZriders thread on his cool Chevy small block transplant into his jag I thought I'd post pics of my latest cheap fun.
  17. Was it an engine that was easy to supe up or was it just the biggest and most plentiful engine they could get their hands on?
  18. Your cheap build is way cool. I'm all about cheap fun. I just bought a 1973 gmc K20 last week with a modestly built 350 vortec in it. It has a lot of cam and was supposedly balanced and blue printed, sounds bitchin' when you open it up. I'll try and remember to take some pics tomorrow.
  19. Nice job, have you seen the Draguar project they did on RoadKill? It's a you tube show put on by the hot rod magazine guys, they did a very similar project to yours.
  20. Hate to rag on someone else's work but doesn't the dealer or techs take the truck or for a quick test spin? Sure seems like a 10 minute drive could save them a whole lot face and maybe keep a customer.
  21. Pssst, she has been banned in case you didn't hear
  22. Thank you thank you thank you thank you.
  23. It was the only confederate monument in the northern Rockies. PC moves fast I guess.
  24. The price must've went up when the seller realized it was an e9. It was at $7500 obo when I posted it.
  25. http://www.getgibbs.com/about-us/ read the about us paragraph. I have a friend who did this with 40's dodge to preserve the patina and keep it from rusting. It looked decent I thought. I am really surprised they say you can paint over it. Hey TD Bach ever hear of that or tried it?
