Maybe it would be like the 7.6 Duramax they had for awhile in box trucks and Topkicks. Like you said the chassis is the main limiting factor so why bother unless they are bringing back the Topkick or similar chassis with air brakes. I've seen pickups and suburbans with the 8.1 vortec but have never driven or towed with one. Maybe they'll bring that back too...

Left foot braking?
BOBWhite replied to skydawg's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I've never had to heel toe in anything but a car., even then I wear boots all the time so it's not all that effective. You can use the hand/trailer brake but that might require a 3rd hand. -
Thanks for letting me join the group.

Good to see some newer stuff here! Do you think you could be getting air somewhere in the system? I'd start with checking fuel pressure then move on to using clear fuel line to see if you're getting any air bubbles though. Western Truck and Tractor Repair on YouTube recently did a series on a similar problem on a Paccar motor, that could be helpful if you're trying to diagnose it yourself. Best of luck! -
1932 CL transit bus
BOBWhite replied to cliffgromer's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
With some pics maybe someone can track that bus down for you. Lol I can't say I have all that many fond memories of the school bus. Maybe a few more years? lots of kids pissing in bottles and getting the bus stuck on occasion. Our district had a massive mid 80s Bluebird with a little 5.9 cummins up front, 55 was the top speed (on flat ground) with no AC. When we dropped to 6 man football this became a problem when we had to drive 100+ miles across the state for games. Got a grant of some sort and got a sweet bluebird with a 6.7 rear engine now. -
Mack Cabover

Even I'd have to admit that I wouldn't trade that Pete for an Mh. Unless the Mh had an E9 of course 😉 -
Mack Cabover

I love talking about these trucks. There might be a Mh for sale in Wichita if you have your heart set on owning one. Runs and drives so it shouldn't be that bad of a project Unrelated note: Does anyone know the reason round and square sealed beam headlights were offered? Was it mandated in some states or was it a buyer/fleet preference? I've rarely seen round headlight Mh's like this one -
If the hours and miles are correct then that means this truck has been doing about 17 MPH its whole life, so probably lots of idle. For reference 28k hours is about 3.5 years of continuous running! Blows my mind! About 8-12k is all we get out of our John Deere engines before needing to be gone though. These Mack E6/E7s are still some of the best engines ever built. Keep the 3406s and N14s I'd take a Mack!

Mack Cabover
BOBWhite replied to Macktruckman's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I found the post and it looks like your only missing this one side view and a pic of the transmission tag. Anyone know what the front rims are? they don't look like Alcoa's -
Mack Cabover
BOBWhite replied to Macktruckman's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Nope never did. My uncles getting good use out of it as his other truck broke down. I'm always on the lookout for another one, or two! Have you come across the Mh manual Farmer52 posted? Lots of good info there: -
Mack Cabover
BOBWhite replied to Macktruckman's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Thats the windshield washer bottle, most of the time the tanks are cracked on those. Might look into how to fix some of the fiberglass stuff on this rig. I've repaired some fiberglass pieces on a Corvette that didn't turn out too badly and some shops might be able to remold or 3D print any part you might need. -
Mack Cabover

I think I've seen the same truck on marketplace but I can't find the post anymore. Was it in Oklahoma and was a trailer being sold with it as well? First truck I was ever in and drove was an Mh and I love them. All the info you could should need is here and basic parts aren't too bad to find. Trim pieces and Mh specific stuff isn't easy to find so check that everything is there before you buy. -
I guess I can't complain as much with it only being around 0ºF here. Checking cows on a 4 wheeler today my snot started to freeze and my eyes started to sting before I called it quits for the day. I'm much more of a Summer type as well

I found a later manual for a JXC/JXD engine which seems similar to the older YXC engine you mentioned. My favorite part is towards the end where they describe the best way to blow it up in case it's ever abandoned. Let me know if you can't access the link and I'll send a PDF to you: https://radionerds.com/images/9/9d/TM_5-5167_HERCULES_ENGINE_JXC_AND_JXD_1954.pdf Also found a wikipedia article that explains the Russian involvement with the engine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/YaG-10

Welcome! Your profile says you have a Ford/GAZ AA that I would love to see if you have a picture. I don't know if Mack used Hercules in the 1930s but I believe it was an option on some trucks in the 50s and 60s

1985 Mack MH613 cabover
BOBWhite replied to JMetz's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Noted and fixed thank you. I have no idea where I got the idea of the model number denoting the model of engine. I did read something about the 3208 being offered in the Mh but I have never seen or heard of one. -
1985 Mack MH613 cabover
BOBWhite replied to JMetz's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Mh653's are 3406 Caterpillar powered and Mh652's are 3208 powered. Only 4 of the 3208 powered ones were made which isn't surprising. If I remember correctly the C-15's are 14.8 liter and C15's are 15.2 but I might have that backwards. It might also only be the C15 ACERT's that were 15.2 liter. -
Fuel Tank Rust Repair
BOBWhite replied to h67st's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
I've seen people strap tanks to tractor tires and spin them around all day that way. As for safety filing it up with water can work, and I've heard of people piping exhaust gasses into the tank. -
Blow By On your engine!? late Christmas Gift!
BOBWhite replied to fjh's topic in Engine and Transmission
Most people just shoot the parts cannon and call that trouble shooting these days. Its a dying art On the note of a late Christmas gift, a guy west of me jackknifed and hit a bridge at 6:30 this morning. From what I hear he's alright but it bent the frame and tore the motor mounts out of the engine. -
Store was all out of black eye peas, hope that's a good sign for the year ahead.

'73 Mack Restoration Update
BOBWhite replied to Derrico's topic in Antique and Classic Mack Trucks General Discussion
Looks great! Are you planning on finding some alloy rims for the front or are you going to keep the Dayton type? -
I don't remember ever posting a pic of our Christmas tree last year. Too lazy to put a real tree up so this did the trick.
