  1. Brick and mortar doesnt mean much anymore, really is a mail order world. I’d find a dealership I like within the lower 48 and make them my go to on all small ticket ltems like that switch. Or just go to PAI, as we do, for 80% of the parts we buy. They stock plenty of old school components. Did you get a PAI log on set up last time out?
  2. Did you not have a system in your truck originally?
  3. If you had a Kent Moore J-37077 you could check timing. Probably need a turn tool too. See one online sold for $210. Used 37077, eBay.
  4. General tuneup for a v MAC 1 was check timing, pop injectors, check fuel pressure, check boost, pressurize charge air system, set overhead. We had occasions of timing slippage at slotted time gear. Remember Mack instructor telling us to slightly exceed the torque specs on timing gear retainer bolts.
  5. Make sure someone didn’t give you the wrong dipstick. Windage will pick up oil on an overfill.
  6. Real proud. Asking $58,900. Lol.
  7. There is one lead going to alternator, but how many unused terminals are on the back of your alternator?
  8. I’d send a defibrillator shock into the alternators field terminal and see if it lights off. Had it work before, not much to lose. Use a battery charger to do it.
  9. Takes me a day to bag it then 15 minutes to gut and clean, then another few hours to crock, fork strip and put into a pie crust with vegetables. Dozer did it all in 38 seconds. There has to be a lesson in this somewhere.
  10. Col 1.pdf col 2.pdf This is the breakdown you requested. I priced out the complete 10136800 at $281.94. They upsized the coalescence capacity due to new engines created high draft CFM. Seems cheesey, but these engines (new) have the road draft equivalent of a hair dryer when under power. They upsized and added a sprung pop-off valve on the bottom of the gauze filter due to high draft.
  11. Sweet Truck! Welcome to BMT. Did you consider just converting your worn brass stub over to neoprene and keeping your complete OEM stand?
  12. Good eye MHF, it is off. Too small a hyd tank for pto work. That’s like 29 miles per hour average. Our short haul gravel dumper was 40+ life average.
  13. Haven't been thinking as much about holiday capitalism as global warming. We had a 9 1/2" dump of snow and another 3" coming tonight. Thermometer read 2 degrees F this morning. Brought my snowmobile out of retirement Saturday and burned off all the gas stabilizer. That is a first.
  14. He has Risen indeed...Blessing on your Easter.
  15. Stick a fuel psi gauge on it and see what you get under load.
  16. up here the guys with oil leaks are the only ones without a salt eroded frame. Ironic benefit. If it checked over for blow-by and stuff mentioned above, and it still lost oil, I would mount a free standing coalescing filter in-line with the road draft. The filter would have to be able to have enough CFM capacity. Liehberr makes a really good free standing oil coalescing filter with a spring loaded air bypass for when the motor gets sloppy. So you could never blow a seal from back pressure cause by “thick” oil on gauze element. Good luck!
  17. Good to consider, as you mentioned, the warranty as really not even practical to consider on something like a daily driver truck.
  18. He is high on all his stuff, but most of it is in good shape. If it’s broke he fixes it. I did not price this one but it will be $40-50K. I know that is not what he gets since he stays in business.
  19. Knowing what you know.....what would you offer this guy? With all mechanicals checking out sound. He spray bombs the frame and rims and puts new brakes in. I have been watching it for 3-4 years, it's not selling. 460XT. https://www.truckpaper.com/listings/trucks/for-sale/5720685/2001-mack-cl713
  20. Did you mention to the Trooper you needed the extra "break-in weight" to get the manifold good and hot before retorque? If he had an ounce of decency he would have then dropped it to a warning.
  21. You shouldn't have to. It's more Gray Engine Amnesia. Hard to wrap my head around what is going on at the dealerships? Its the age of information and interconnectivity and folks can't get a software update? I'm guessing they turn-over mechanics so fast there is no archival knowledge being passes along inside the shops.
  22. All the above plus peek in the oil hole of old one and make sure the shaft is in one piece, if not we would pull the pan/return pipe and get the frags cleaned out. Have chased the missing/failed exhaust impeller down to the pipe elbow just under the vertical muffler. Manditory new air filter and complete disassembly of all air inlet joints from filter housing to CMCAC inlet.
  23. Did you get the 12b Mpro mentioned? Sounds like you flashed but did not update? Personally, I’d replace all original EUP’s at a 10-12K hour interval. I have that number in my head from a cam failure that we had last year caused by two broken EUP springs @ 15k hours. Spring frags also badly damaged EUP bores. Had to build a slide hammer extractor out of an junked EUP spring shoe to get followers out over knurled-up damage. Unfortunite “Pay me now or pay me later” moment...... ended up with all new EUPs at that point. Wouldn’t expect noticeably better performance from EUPs though. 12b.....major performance upgrade.
  24. The descending RPM chop does not seem too bad on the video. Again it may seem worse on the seat. Engine sounds nice at idle and when it is on it's plateau. Starts to hunt a bit right at 725RPM, chops 4-5 times and flattens out. Adjust your idle up to 700 (or play around with the number). Maybe it will harmonize better? If it has 30,509 hours on it I might grant a pardon? Would be interesting to see a glass of water on the dash when you get your vibration going.
