  1. He also seems to have liberal media bias figured out as well. I’d throw $100 on the table to hear him say “Deez is fake news!”.
  2. We have a fleet owner who bought 5-6 of those 6spd units off of Manders Diesel. T2060A trans with a flat curve engine. Ultra light units. Hauled flat beds of lumber, on dedicated day runs, over flat land. 7 MPG+. He eventually switched to long case when he diversified the hauling. Start with a tune up. If your hauling easy it may be a decent truck. Injectors check, timing check, CMCAC pressure check, fuel PSI check, etc. etc.
  3. Recently listening to a local financial advisors morning show. He referred to a company from Wausau which was invited to manufacture in China. They were wined and dined for two weeks during which they toured affiliated, China based, businesses built by the Group. At the end of the proposals they layed down rules of engagement. The Wisconsin based business had to remain, indefinitely, below 1/2 of the business share ownership. Any design improvements made to the product, on Chinese soil, could not be legally reproduced or sold by the HQ business in Wisconsin, and a full etc etc etc list of unreasonable protective restrictions. They pulled out.
  4. Leading back to the question.....why are we in a trade war with our global allies instead of directly concentrating financial aggressions at the economy of countries which are currently pointing a gun at us.
  5. We once had a customer lemon law a truck for ....(wait for it).....rough ride!!!! He got himself a brand new CL733 for saying the front suspension ride was growing progressively rougher. 18K front with logging floats. Mack had us put a whole new front suspension in. We also fabricated an additional X-link into the exhaust muffler brackets to stop sway and vibration. Won his day in court, took delivery on the new truck and shocked the conscience of our dealership and Mack Inc. You have a much better argument.
  6. Build a makeshift manometer and get a soild number on inches. Follow road draft tube up to small can on engine, pop top of small can, clean out the brillo pad (oil coalescing material) to make sure it can breathe well.
  7. Caught ya a snap shot of the last Blue Dog Coalition Democrat member.
  8. Not defending Trumps influence on the trade war, but as for Harley...It was time to go. They are going to try to reinvent themselves on fresh turf, hope it works and creates an outlet for the stateside factory group. Have two Harley plants a few miles up the road. Most body works/paint are coming out of Tomahawk. They have been stumbling since 2008. Retired out and bought-out a large % of union workers then brought in $10 per hour casual workers. Threatened to move out of Tomahawk to hamstring the union at negotiations and it worked..... total bluff, lol, “Offer in Kentucky” never existed. Pabst Blue Ribbon reinvented itself amongst southern Californian college millennials. Saved themselves. Maybe Harley will find itself in Europe? Go to indeed.com and read Harley; employee; Tomahawk. Google “Harley doing poorly” Post ‘08 we snatched up enough overstock to give away a new Sportster with every used Mack purchased from our dealership. The leftovers were offer to us employees for $5k a piece.
  9. Not an advocate of forums that I frequent will BAN such discussion and also many times the poster. Censorship works well in China......buncha happy schmucks with the same hairdo all eagerly nodding at each other. I've been set straight on a couple of occasions, on this site, by people being frank and divisive.
  10. The only thing that disturbs me is imbalance. The two party system, love or hate it, has kept us out of trouble. Constant check and balance with elections hanging on a couple points is healthy. But.....The Left is soooooo far gone now it can’t pull its side of the rope properly. Everybody agrees too far Right is just as deadly, historically, as too far left. Countries have Literally payed for hard political swings with blood. Trumps a hugely effective, M-80 of a politician without any good, honest political opposition to keep him straight.
  11. I’m not very knowledgeable on antique value, but that strikes me as a pretty reasonable price assuming he may come down another notch? If it’s a native Yupper truck it will have some nasty secrets underneath. Like being able to pick a lost bungee cord off the highway without opening the door. Salt Country USA.
  12. $2,500 https://up.craigslist.org/cto/d/1955-mack-truck/6584142299.html
  13. You want to give him credit for not clipping the roof.....but what a crummy follow up.
  14. Splendid... I see a fresh wood chip trailer roll-over in town for repairs, maybe I'll be able to contribute. Three things you can count on here during April frost break-up is Robins, Ruan and Rollovers.
  15. What was “SuperTruckerSaturday”?
  16. Lol, I DID quit the dealership in July 2010. I was sick of getting 0.3 hours warranty time to change a thermostat in a flat rate shop. But mainly because 2008 had damaged us. Bad economy + bad MP emissions showing = Lost Foreman position, cut my entire shift, they fired all my guys (some excellent mechanics) and I had to go back on floor. Writings on the wall. Now it’s following me. At the risk of sounding like a broken record..... the MP8/D13 is actually an engine made for under 350HP. They are in denial back at Corporate HQ. We will be getting our third D13J two months from now. Cup/injector/hard start free. Never pulled an injector, Haven’t even bought the tools yet. One did two years in the 24/7 position and the damn thing runs like a charm@17,000 hours. All derated are to 330HP. Guess what machine will probably come in with a miss tomorrow because I can’t keep my mouth shut.
  17. He got it all. If he looked in his mirror he would have seen the 13.3' canopy sign ($3.31). Hoping that's non-ethanol price?
  18. It’s a completely different beast. IMO-Difficulty level high. But I never say never on this site, folks have pulled off some seemingly impossible conversions. Usually the successful people go reverse engineer.....your doing the opposite in terms of choosing complexity over simplicity.
  19. Thanks MPro. There will be no overlap then. Appreciate it.
  20. I think many, myself included, think of a truck as pre-emissions @ < 2004. The emissions before 04 were subtle, inexpensive, logical, repairable, removeable and basically non-invasive to successfully pulling a load to a destination. Maybe somebody has an example of a full fledged OEM emissions debacle in a pre 04, but I don’t have one. My buddy has a 70’s Mack Manure spreader/tanker with an E6 237. I rebuilt it on the floor with a modern engine kit from a non-OEM vendor. I layed the pistons next to each other and the ring lands were moved up right tight to the crown on the new pistons. Raised a question against the manufacturer. Ends up they wanted to get rid of cold burn on the piston sides to reduce emissions. So progressive emission updates were being made even for the 70’s engine. Did it ruin anyone’s day? Nope, ran like a beast till he retired and he was so happy with it he never sold it in case the kids needed help. Looks out the window at it while drinking his morning coffee.
  21. I need a couple French Canadians who will take my side?
  22. I'm always open for correction. Especially since I was a toddler and, as much as I hate to talk about it, was hammering the bottle hard during those years. Who is exclusively credited, completely excluding Renault (and Signal Oil) during their 11 year creep into ownership, for design of the E-7? It would stand to reason.......I never hated working on the E7 engine (or E6), maybe the French were excluded from the table?
  23. I'm trying to find an overlapping Mack MP8 service manual for my Volvo D13J. Volvo tried to make a good manual, but it just isn't there. Mack E-media does not answer the question........ 1. What is the MP8 base engine different in MP8 EPA 10 Vs. MP8 EPA 14, or is it all about after treatment differences? Is the base manual for 2010 MP8 the same right up till the new common rail? 2. Does the MP8 manual still look as good as the E-tech did, or do they resemble the publisher I pictured at the top? Volvo....... 0-100 repair points . Mack E-Tech... all steps broken down into short specific 1-6 repair points. lots of good separated notes/service hints/cautions. Any input greatly appreciated.
  24. Renault bought 10% share in 1979 20% 1982 Almost half (41%) by 1983 Renault sealed the deal 1990 about time of E7 line introduction.
