  1. If you add 100 your a 370, drop it to 460 and you need; 631GC5172M3 turbo (which I have for sale for 10% of new price, if you are staying stock) 736GB419M3 injectors (if your staying stock) Your on your own for ECM software. Site is still mourning Mpro's departure. Your truck will be set up as AMI not AI, but the peaks may overlap well enough since AI-460 has a long, flat, top. Pay attention to torque rating of clutch, trans, driveline, etc.
  2. Use the pictures in the attached thread to identify your manifold set-up. Your mechanic must have been sharp, so I wonder if he would have swapped manifolds, knowing what he knew about the conversion process? This will also have the 5" exhaust listed. If you use this recipe you need to know what engine HP and injector part numbers you have when you call Mike. Assuming this is now an AI460 ECM you will need to tell Mike at K & S.... "I have an AI460 and need a S400 to replace my 631GC5172M3 turbo which is currently a S300" "I need upgraded injectors to replace my 419M3 stock injectors that currently have the stock tip #1868"
  3. I tend to think the turbo problem may be someone not cleaning the intake system out and your digesting aluminum turbo compressor-side metal back into the new turbos. That’s generally why you see that kind of short, repetitious failure of turbos. You have to remove the intake tubes, disasssemble, clean, remove air cleaner house, clean and install a new air filter. The problem compounds as you eat turbos and release more garbage. Mack’s policy is to remove all pipes and cooler, basically everything all the way to the engine intake manifold. You may want to take the mechanics advice on heat. If you're cracking exhaust manifolds or turbo housings it may well be the case. When you modify the injection on a Stock AI engine you automatically have a heat management challenge on your hands. Pressure = Heat, in hydraulics or pneumatics. If you modify an engine with a restriction system you will create a heat issue. After you modify it you need to open up the sinuses of the engine a bit so you don't run too high on pyro. Since you Frankenstein'ed the truck your going to need to make sure guys aren't putting on the wrong turbos. Obviously they won't be installing a VGT accidentally, but what numbers are they working with or referencing for the parts they are installing? If you put an AI-427 turbo on a modified AI-460 you may be eating those all-ready-undersized S300's. You can diagnose your miss with a 3" piece of wire. Short out the two connections at the EUP. It will not harm your ECM. The reason the connections are not insulated is because it will not hurt it. If it would wreck the ECM you would need a new computer every time a magnet coil shorted itself out. I did it last week on a 934D Liehberr with a miss, only because I don't like to hook-up laptop to cut cylinders, wire is quick and easy. If the lights are low you will see a little spark and also know the ECM is driving that EUP.
  4. Is it fact that Dakota uses only enough Rust Enhancer (road salt) to keep the sand moisture from freezing it into the dumps? Friends owns a used car lot and is always running to ND for car auctions....says “less rust”.
  5. We saw fires too. One was in a remote part of the U.P., no fire departments, burned for a long stint And ended up on the ground. First attempt to fix was reduce under hood temps by punching breathing holes all over and installing hood scoops. Painted scoops locally. Plastic looming under hood was melting, everything plastic was being wrecked. second attempt was “no reuse of injection lines” and a tool kit with Mpros video. third attempt were the cheesy little foil tubes wrapped over all six injector lines to reflect radiant heat. They started to believe the EGR AC temp was so hot it denatured the steel lines’s strength. fourth attempt was a service bulletin labeling the #3 cylinder injector line as the troublemaker. Sometimes they would get bent during R&R because they were tricky to remove with limited access. The temptation was to bend the line which weakened it, misaligned the engagement and created internal stress. I believe all the above had something to do with it. Intro to CCRS pulse and pressure delivery, too much heat(recall the same AI vintages had same line, same years and no issues), hard to access/remove and install lines and poor quality injector lines. A. Is a nylon core line that could have caused it, but didn't. White Nylon liner is since melted out. Rust is a product of intense heat plus some rain like everything under there that was once painted, chromed or galvanized. B. is non-flammable c. Has Zero pressure, it is a power steering res that is open to atmospheric pressure D. Is a low pressure emissions system port to exhaust, no flammables.
  6. Think you need to get hold of your now missing mechanic and figure out what is inside your ECM. Then you will have the answer for all the questions. Take pics of your turbo and exhaust manifold and upload them. Change your turbo feed no matter what. if it really is an AI-460 conversion you are ahead of the game since your camshaft is ideal and has no scavenging bump.
  7. I'm certain my brother would put some of the undamaged parts on my estate sale?
  8. This is the number for a 2005 AI-460 turbo. This price is reduced, one time only, to $200 + shipping. Convincing folks to never buy one has really hurt business.
  9. Both AI are S300 series center bearing, stock. Don't install a S300 for any reason. If you really want one though I have one listed for sale, dirt cheap, in good condition, off an AI-460. Gotta believe no practical chap would ever convert to an AI engine? E-tech 427 & 460 is a 631GC5145M Turbo
  10. I'd like to re-up my offer to your wife...…………………….. purchase your car for the price of your bail.
  11. Assume the Equestrian Police officer was laying face-down on the pavement somewhere?
  12. Volvo Off-road is giving warranty (100% parts + Labor) in 2 brackets.... Under 19kW(25 HP) 2 years/1,500 hours Over 19kW 5 years/3,000 hours Don't know what they are putting out under 19kW?
  13. Sorry. Don’t mistake my statement as an encouragement. I mean to say Mack made a truck that could do it, but you may be the knife at a gunfight with your current set-up, even modified. Barn is making the point of a right fit, Mack E9, ISX, etc (most Mack has to offer).
  14. Michigan trains are awesome, make sure you tack on a pic when you get established. We used to have a MI group (hmmmmaybe Mitch Dellich?) that dipped down from the UP once a year to have a "fix everything you can find wrong" week. Those guys had "centipedes" that ran Cummins ISX, High Torque 18 Spd, in a Mack CL733 with factory Raydan Air-Link Suspensions, real meat wagons. We had to rebush some of the main trunnions, but generally speaking they could take it, never saw a base metal crack. Mack isn't(wasn't) out of the game, you just need to take advantage of the most they have to offer.
  15. Sales pitch. It gives the appearance of offering more options. In their defense....not really underhanded. To our advantage...…..costs nothing to modify. Only thing that looks a little off is the plastic thumb switch color, they made a gray and a red so you could visually see what trans config it had.
  16. That’s too much for your truck. You need to move out of 12 liter class Mack or Volvo into big displacement and drivetrain. Guys I know hauling 98k get away with 427, but your in a different bracket.
  17. No, your a true 427, no secret power bands there. What is your GVW going to be loaded?
  18. Take the shift knob off, disassemble it and you will see a little plastic stud that blocks your thumb splitter from moving when range lever is down. Cut off the little blocker tit and your low gears will all have a split too.
  19. Good point. We tend to put things in modern perspective. Referring to a C.S. Lewis book about faith and ethics. He said the same thing as 41, gotta figure out your timeline as a start point before judging the situation from a high vantage point. He used the East coast folks who were roasting witches as an example. If there was in fact a corrupted individual who could use a black art to torture, terrify and kill unwitting civilians wouldn’t that person deserve to be prosecuted for the crime? Of course! Most believed it was a reality and were acting on sound conscience dealing with it. Hindsight, however, tells an altogether different story. The constitution is a reversal of that notion. Do you think this current generation could reproduce that document spontaneously without having lived under it’s umbrella? No way. Not enough grit and determination to absorb the “discomforts” of birthing it. Not to mention our moral compass is pointing predominately south. They burned witches in ignorance, we burn good people for fun.
  20. Lol, great action shot catching the falling apples!
  21. I’d vote yes. If it’s a Mack trans knock the pin out of the shift knob so you have an 18 speed. If you can’t make hills change up injectors as a quick’n easy.
  22. VIP was the onboard monitoring system, your first dash mounted screen.
  23. It’s fun playing poker from the other side of the table. YOU get to be the high maintenance customer now and your thoroughly educated to dealership politics. Make sure every time the salesman for Mack shows up you put on a Peterbilt cap. Every time Peterbilt comes you switch it.
  24. No offense to Ruth, since she gets up every morning and still hits the pavement (which is fascinating)...….. but @ 85 years old she needs more than an in-chassis overhaul to keep'er going. As elevated as some SCOTUS members are for their ability to discern, some lack the serenity to say "I'm too old for this, I'm losing my edge, let someone step into my position".
  25. Just happened to lose an EUP in one of the 934D engines yesterday...….. The Gold surface is your seal between the fuel column being injected and your crankcase. I don't see it as a 100% efficient seal and would allow a minimal acceptable fuel x-over with age and wear.
