Everything fit perfect. Compress the flex pipe and cut an additional 6-7" beyond gap measurement for good solid overlap. Remember the cab bounce motion is completely absorbed in the flex pipe since stack is cab-hung. If you get cheap, and don't make a deep overlap, you will pay for it later with motion loosening clamps and wearing a slit cut in pipe. Make sure you get decent stainless steel flex, if it rusts to -zero- flexibility it's shot and taking the pipes with it. Did a simple chop and weld to 5" for bracket. You will want rear pipe to lay on frame when cab bags are deflated. Call me a complainer..................but yes, they will put the sticker in the one place you never would. It's out hauling equipment today so waiting on results of pyro and boost adjustment. We were able to reuse the pyro so results should be unbiased to old numbers. A friend asked him to tug their 70,000lb excavator to a site. Think He is a little pink to prove the Log Dog.

Exhaust is installed, sounds very conservative. The only difference is not in the baritone, but the whistle. The (now missing) baffle apparently reflected the sound of the turbo harmonics and it now has a magnified spooling sound. You can hear the impeller talking, but the actual depth of tone is still very similar to what we had.

Don’t have the Mack and maintenance book in front of me.......but our fleet would go 300 hours on engine. Use hour meter since your severe duty. 2,000 hours on diffs and trans.

Run a gauge in and test what your fuel pressure is at crank cycle. It can underperform at low RPM, but certainly not typical issue. Do you mean to say you shut it off and immediately went to start it with no success? If you had no oring it should have leaked constantly while running, sure you did not leave the o-ring in the bore?

The instructor at Volvo training said the elimination of graphite paste in injector assembling was a move to stop improper factory installation. They suspected the paste would not displace fast enough to react to rapid installation of assembly machine. The lubricant would not crawl out, get hydro-locked, then create a false torque that loosened.

Nothing to do with exhaust, but I had lots of time in between to play with the Green Machine.

The Muffler purchased from Grand does not have a break-in baffle. It is straight through design. The pic is the closed baffle of the old muffler, we will see if the audible changed much. Yup, I did get a little medieval on the muffler to get it off....things been choking the dog for 12 years, why be nice? The 4" clamp and 5" replacement are almost a perfect cross over. Everything must expand 1/2" wider from imagined center-line of exhaust and it is about a perfect 1/2" drop in the 5" saddle.

What did the local tire guy say the first time you asked if he repairs corn holes?

The pipes are a very good dimensional likeness. Note to user: Save yourself some trouble and pull the air cleaner housing, w/rubber inlet tube, right away. You are going to need to pull it to fit the 5" into the existing space so you may as well enjoy the accessibility while removing the 4". The 4" can be otherwise be removed and installed with the air cleaner in place.

Stripped down the pipes and made a comparison of exhausts........looks really good. Be Advised: When I came to pick up my pipes the final bill was almost double my original quote. I raised issue with my Mack Dealership parts guy and he went back on Grand Rock for satisfaction. They dropped the price to the original numbers I listed on this thread. If anyone buys from Grand I'm curious to know what the cost is? Are they going to jack it through the ceiling or was it a case of Grand actually investing a lot of retool and time to get this "first production" of a 5" custom? Hopefully just an attempt to recoup loss and the upgrade hasn't now become less practical due to expense.

Twice, both sides of face. Had a logger haul in trailer load of firewood last year. He cut a corner tight in my yard and ran up on my hill edge. I trimmed the brush with the mower in the fall. Under snow bank was a little 3/8” thick stick coming out of sawed off bush.....right clean through the sidewalk of his rear dual. Doesn’t take much, surprised him and me.

Have you had any “like” issues since you bought it?

It isn’t uncommon for people to pull the heads and set them on a steel table while the injectors are still in. The injector tip protrudes just enough to be destroyed on the bench when set down. Did you pull them first? 460 (and 427) you will want to go max sleeve protrusion(if in such case the engine was apart). Heads bounce. The 460 bounce lots. Good idea on head swap over. Did you pressurize your charge air system for leakage Check? Usually pyro climbs if leaking........but I’d still check. Did you check fuel pressure at idle or under load?

If pressure of system is not full you may have to hold for an extended period. That is natural.

Everything sounds kosher for a sick engine diagnosis. Naturally occurring issues for those years. Hopefully they made sure the breather for crank is free to breath. Never saw pressure blowing out of a front Teflon crank seal.

Investigators say the overnight break-in was reported at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 11700 block of Chantilly Lane in Mitchellville. Officers say the intruder broke into the home through the basement and kicked in a door leading to the main floor of the home. The homeowner, who heard the noises, shot the intruder two times with a handgun, according to officials. "When I heard the door crash in, coming up from the basement I knew I was in trouble. I just sat there on the bed trying to ponder what my next move would be," the homeowner Joseph M. Park Sr. told FOX 5. "I didn't want to take a life, but I did want to disable him or to stop him from hurting me." Police say the intruder fled the home and officers canvassed the neighbor for the suspect. They received a 911 call at about 1:45 a.m. for a man shot in the 3800 block of Clairton Drive and the suspect was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Officials said police have obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect for first-degree burglary. Investigators said Park is not facing any charges at this time.

'Good Samaritan' Kills Active Shooter in Texas Sports Bar: Police by Phil McCausland / May.04.2017 / 8:40 PM ET / Updated May.04.2017 / 9:20 PM ET A "good Samaritan" with a gun killed an active shooter who may have been gearing up for a deadly rampage at a Texas sports bar Wednesday night, police said. When 48-year-old James Jones walked inside the Zona Caliente Sports Bar, started yelling and then allegedly shot and killed Cesar Perez — a 37-year-old restaurant manager who'd attempted to calm him down — Arlington police said witnesses were afraid they would be next. In addition to the gun used to kill Perez, police say Jones had another semiautomatic pistol and two knives on him. The serial number on the second gun had been scratched off, and Jones did not have a gun license, police said. "He definitely had the capacity, if he wanted, to commit further violence and potentially kill other patrons in the business," Arlington Police Lieutenant Chris Cook told NBC News, adding that it did not appear that the shooter knew his victim. An armed "good Samaritan" — as the Arlington Police labeled him — happened to be eating at the restaurant with his wife. A concealed carry permit holder, he told her to get down on the ground and then shot Jones in the back. "I don’t think the shooter even knew where the rounds were coming from because he started shooting at the front door," Cook said, who described the scene as "chaotic." Police reviewed video surveillance and pieced together the incident via witness interviews, but it remains unclear how many shots were fired by either individual. Police were looking into Jones’ background to see whether he suffered from any mental illnesses and were awaiting test results to find out if he was under the influence. The man who took down Jones wished to maintain his anonymity, police said, noting that he felt overwhelmed but relieved that he prevented further violence. “We’re thankful that the good ‘Samaritan’ acted quickly and decisively to end the threat,” Cook said. “We never recommend people get involved. That’s a personal decision that a citizen has to make.” Use of force and firearms expert Emanuel Kapelsohn told NBC News that, from his understanding, the man who took down the shooter reacted appropriately. "I think it's to be applauded," he said. "Not everybody in the world ought to own a gun. Not everybody in the world ought to carry a gun. Not everyone in the world ought to engage an armed criminal where innocent people could be potentially injured." "But this good Samaritan obviously had the ability to do what he did," Kapelsohn added. "Who knows how many people would be dead if he had not acted?"

To clean up your brakes on a stored truck, or like TT said.........driver just got a fine for using brakes in town with noise ordinance and boss is pulling his license to rattle.

You drop out of the split engagement when you relax the torque and allow the fork to pull the slide clutch out of engagement. Same scenarios when going up or going down. Disengagement occurs the moment the slider hits coasting (0 torque) lash. When you want to slide to underdrive you have to do a simultaneous motion of releasing the throttle, thumbing your switch, popping slider out in coast lash and immediately getting back into the throttle while slider clutch is fighting to find a home. You have to bring engine RPM immediately up to let slider get back in or it will sit and grind. No different then if you were going from a high gear at 55 mph to a lower gear while maintaining 55mph...you have to raise the RPM or you will not find your gear. Never pre select the splitter, it is not like the range shift. You have to make all thumb play instant relative to your foot. When your foot comes off the throttle your thumbs moves in unison. The amount of time your splitter clutch floats in a grind can eventually determine the life of your rear case. IMO- You can tell a good driver by front fenders and his slider clutch wear.

We are talking about two separate things and I think your in the right by use of proper terminology. Your range is not grinding, but your gear split is because it is not synchronized like range is. Since split is not synchronized you have to gear match speeds. Sounds like you are also shifting properly. Does it seem the splitter function (and/or possibly range) is popping out of engagement lock-up under heavy torque........but not popping out when unloaded?
