That fan drive needs to be replaced. I went through 2 on an E9 once. Then the third one worked. Original failed and would no longer drive . Then replaced it....never came off full on , second one was the same way. Third one worked like a Swiss watch. And FYI an E9 with the fan stuck on ? real treat to try shift'n all day.

Seriously, who tells a kid to try that ?

There's something about them being stored. After so long they don't work or take forever to start working correctly. Like those bear ones you gotta hot wire and let it run at a certain RPM until it frees up

It's a thing. There's a way they're supposed to be stored ( like mounted on the truck ) after so long the fluid doesn't move in them so they turn free in some of them.

Isn't there something about the position they're stored in ? Like if it was stored lying down they don't work.

Lots of times when they feel like they're really pounding like that, the cab mounts are shot. That jarring slam you feel is the cab bash'n into the frame. Cab mounts are often overlooked or out and out ignored .

Might just have a leaky charge air cooler. I've seen normal E9s get up in the mid 30 PSI range when they're in good shape.

Engine stand makes life so much easier. Not many guys have that luxury (lol) You're going to have that engine right up to the level of the rest of the truck.

Back when two stacks were closer to the center of the cab for a reason other than looks.

You can get them, just depends on what parts guy you have to deal with. One of those Atros, the bushing I'm talking about can be pressed in an Atro rod when that wears out.

You need those ones with the big bushing with the rubber in a "can" that you can just press a new bushing in. They're huge and put up a good fight for a while...then you just press a new bushing in. But ? find a couple (lol) not many parts places wanna be bothered anymore ( uhhhhh model and VIN ?? ..... I can't do anything without that......uuuuhh ) and that's not even mentioning getting new U bolts made that are the biggest thing to fit through the conical washers in the bottom bracket

Sorry to say it, but you need lots of new stuff. That plate between the springs ? Someone already added to it to stiffen it up. Whoever had it off or the spring out of it put the bolts back in the wrong holes. Likely you need saddles, spacers new springs U bolts and the side to side torque rods. These have been known to last only a matter of days in a dump truck sometimes (torque rods). This really isn't crazy expensive and it's easy to do if you have torches, jacks and a big impact wrench. Then there's the nylon wear pads hide'n in the front spring hanger. Spring needs to be able to slide to work or it just accelerates the wear of everything else. No easy tighten something up here.... you're spend'n some money. And if asked, get parts for AL46 ( the spring is thicker and is better for a dump application ). Sometimes you're better off getting a bigger torque rod for the side to side than comes in the truck.. like one of those weld to length but ???? gotta watch it'll fit without hitting the carrier. Someone pointed out the side to side rod may be bent (and it might) If it is and it's the one called for by the VIN, then the rest is worn allowing it to travel too much. It also looks like some genius removed the rear shocks. This suspension needs shocks. They stop it from over traveling .

The regular 10 speed only has the air on the compound for the range, the ones with the reverse have that there too. there's a ten, and two with the reverse . One reverse is crazy low and the other is sorta the same ratios as a Fuller 8LL. I have no idea what one is what 11KB number

ISX gets a pass cause there's lots more right foot there. Guys don't care about much else when they drive them. MP is a pretty good engine and before too long will be looked back fondly at. If everything is followed as per specs when doing a repair, they're no worse than anything else. How many guys you think actually go through marking fasteners or know what the marks would mean to indicate how many times it was used ? Then like Jojo said, guys skip'n the clean'n cause they're paid by the job. Lots of these new engines are abused and piss poor repairs made on them cause someone is more worried about making money than a repair. Todd's lucky he has a dealer that'll work with him . Now if he's also lucky and gets 6 injectors that don't leak fuel around the push rod .... he should use some numbers from the invoice to play the lottery

Lots of dealerships won't even touch a deleted truck, let alone have it in the shop all tore apart. Lots of specialty tools required for cups, and not the ideal thing to learn as you go on one of them. Most likely it is the truck's issue, or the fuel filter housing. My money's on cups.
