Dog pound stole my truck

Very good job! I love the 2 tone paint and the colours. Just looks right! -
Sounds like a cool truck. I think your right about no interest . For a truck that was so popular in the day, there doesn't seem to many people that want to keep them around. I'm loving mine. I am going to put a historic licence plate on it…under $20 year, insurance is around $150 …its the cheapest vehicle I own. I can't use it for work, just to play, show, but thats what I have the Macks for …to work. Good luck, I hope you get it. It will have a nice home to retire at! Keith

Jim , I surprised my dad with it last night, he just remembered the good days , but I know there was a lot of bad days also. This is a 30 + year old pic of him. Mike, I'm glad it has the tilt hood too. I don't know if you noticed, my snowplow has a butterfly hood. Don't know if it is something from mack or if frink (company that installed the plow) made , but I hate standing on my head to do repairs.

The cab and chassis will be painted at some point Vlad. I want to keep it original colours. I'm not sure how I will do the frame yet. Sandblast or just take a wire wheel to it. I hate getting things sandblasted, but I know it is the best way to go. I am going to experiment a little first. I am sold on chassis saver though, so that will be my paint of choice for the frame

Its funny you say "if you had the money and a place to store it indoors" . I don't have either of them. It is looking like my pickup just got kicked out of the shop and I am a little poorer than I was before.

I will try to keep this short... It all started last week when carlotpilot posted about parts wanted for his loadstar 1800. I got to thinking about all the different loadstars dad had. and getting my drivers licence in a 1976 loadstar 1800. Then I got looking at the internet. Looking at pics.Finding information, I didn't realize they were built in Chatam Ontario. And like the Mack plant in Oakville Ontario, it is now closed…..Then I thought, wouldn't be cool to have one. I looked on line for trucks for sale. Not really expecting to see anything, but thought it would be interesting to see more pics. Anyway my story ends with……….. 1974 loadstar 1700, was never licensed for the road(never seen salt) kept inside, 345 gas, 5 + 2 trans 7 + 17 axles I think. in my driveway now. Thanks carlotpilot

This is from from wikipedia, The Mercury M-Series pickup truck was produced between 1946 and 1968 byFord Motor Company of Canada, primarily for Canada. Early versions often came with a higher output (CM-1 designated) Mercury/Ford flathead V8 engine over and above the unique Mercury-specific grille, badging and trim that adorned every Mercury M-Series truck. The M-Series was introduced in Canada because smaller communities either had a Ford dealer or a Lincoln-Mercury-Meteor dealer, but not both; a Mercury truck line offered more opportunities for truck sales.

I wanted to add a couple of Fords. These are going to be at an auction in Toronto the end of this month. The first one is a 1951 COE F5 The next 2 pics are of our Canadian Ford, A 1956 Mercury 500. I'm not sure if the only difference between the Ford and Mercury is the name on the hood.
