I was only speaking to my mother about this very thing a week or so ago We dont do enough for veterans and their families We ask them to put it all on the line for a cause they might not even agree with but we are to lousy to put out our hands to help after the fighting is over I only learnt my Grandfather who was in the RAAF although he was ground crew , he was a air frame fitter I asked what that was as a child "when they come in like a colander I send em out like a bowl" I never new until only days ago he was a fire fighter in the airforce as well, the memories of the burnt and mangled air crews haunted him to the day he died apparently As I said I only learnt this days ago Most of us only think of the front line troops and the trauma they must suffer I do wonder how far reaching this trama can be Paul

Thats kinda yeah well um dunno the right word there However the Mack Big Foot I seem to recall was rated at 250 ton standard from the factory and was built to never be driven on the road and it doesnt have a steel bonnet or hood as you blokes call them A very very tough jigger Paul

As long as it covers the radiator and fits behind the grill I reckon it should work ok Paul

It's been a couple of years since I have had a R model door apart But I do recall, or at least I seem to recall that the door latch (the bit that holds the door shut) has to have its screws undone and it comes out with the door I also seem to recall that the clip that holds the lock barrel in has to be unclipped so the barrel comes out to allow that door latch to slide out of the door jam part of the door I do stand to be corrected on this as my mind isnt as good at rememberibg things as it once was The whole shooting match comes out fairly easy with the door still on the truck I have never tried it with the door off the truck so I cant comment on which way is easier Paul

Yes I would agree and would think it was used in the UK when Germans were bombing London Im guessing it has a generator out the front but I notice it has two radiators Paul

Vlad I have been told by someone that workedfor Mack Australia building Macks that there was templates made up that hung on the firewall etc to drill all corresponding holes for RHD Even the heaters etc were cut and shut to still use the original Mack heaters but all conections were reversed Pedal hangers and brackets cover up all the LHD holes no longer needed You cant tell they have been modified at all until you disassemble them Paul

When the DM's were sold here they were sold as LHD and were converted to RHD later on in life The cabs were shifted to the middle like a R800 and the steering wheel swapped across How many of these were done ? Dunno Was it a neat conversion like a conventional R model or flinstone ? No But they came up ok and would of been a lot better to drive out here on our roads Paul

They were built that way because t he R 800 wasnt around yet and that was as good as Australia could do with what it had I would think Also worth remembering that all R model and no doubt all other Macks built in Australia are based on LHD and converted to RHD in Australian factory Paul

I was thinking , yes dangerous I know Do rubbish trucks have dual control in the U.S. If so do these trucks with dual control ? As in a steering wheel on each side Would make it easier to make it RHD Just a thought Paul

Yes the picture posting problem has never been fixed has it It makes it very frustrating, however thru a third party I can post picks across Or perhaps evena fresh box of parts that turned up today for Mrs Mack from the US Red dot aircon for under the dash I hope Will be a shame to cut it up to make RHD but needs must Im not home to see so Im only guessing thats what it as I got a call from UPS un Sydney asking me to tariffs and the GST ( tax) on Friday So bare with the picture posting problem as there can be a way around it Someone on here put me onto Postimage.com Seems to work fine Paul
