  1. The manifolds are on the wrong side for the Reo, IH motors dont appear to have a water manifold at all Ford are wrong as are Chev, I reckon it looked a bit like a John Deere Header (combine for you Yanky lot) motor lying in the grass at the farm Will have a look tomorrow night if I remember Hmmmmmmm Paul
  2. I would think France would be the go for a lot of things but most people in Australia rarely buy genuine anything and normally shop aftermarket Paul
  3. People find that once a stainless sleeve is fitted you never have another problem This only applies to vehicle's that aren't driven often Wheel cylinders get rust in them and the seals dont last long after that If it was mine I would go all the way and fix what ever had to be fixed and if it was looked after it would probably out last me While its apart I would check king pins the lot and just fix it once Paul
  4. Im as dumb as the rest of these buggers on here as I have no idea what your talking about Your going to need to give us a little more information, what type and model of motor, what model truck If you are unsure on these just take some whole photos of the truck and the motor and I'm sure we can start to point you in the right direction Paul
  5. Loosing prime and a little bit of air is getting in and hunts until the air is pumped out ? Check the fuel return line for leaks Paul
  6. Ebay is the place to start, ever person in America that has one of these that comes on the forum gets the same dribble about parts not been obtainable, yet if we just punch in the make model etc the parts are almost always right there on ebay Or as Joey has said, get the shoes relined and wheel cylinders re-done with a stainless steel sleeve and their will never be a problem again You will need to find a parts place were the first question asked isn't "whats the vin number" as I doubt you will get a kit over the counter, they will need to measure the bore, the people that stainless sleeve them will be able to do all of that any way And the prices have never been crazy dear type of thing if you bring them in from Europe yourself Good luck Paul
  7. What thread, Trucking News ? Never read everything but I did read a lot of stuff when KS was contributing to it Paul
  8. And what a fleet, yes it is neat as pin and not over done as a lot of trucks appear to be these days Looks great to me Paul
  9. Dunno if they are or arent available What makes you think its worn out ? I had my turbine apart recently and there really didnt appear to be anything to bugger up on the valve It is spring loaded and I had just cleaned around it etc as best I could Even if they arent available I think just a normal check valve from a plumbers would work in the short bit of hose Paul
  10. Well Im sure I'll be told Im wrong but I reckon it wasnt to fit the motor in but rather to distinguish it from a six cylinder and to let more heat out The turbo would of been extremely close to fire wall Paul
  11. Mack trucks were a very clever design, the bodies were built in such a way that even right up to the late 90's (last of the R models) fit and fitment of panels was well camouflaged so nothing really had to line up that well to give a good appearance Looks good to me Paul
  12. Only down side with that style hitch is it allows the tractor and trailer to put you in sticky situations before you know whats happened It puts a lot of weight a long way back, ideal for just poking around the yard but very unpredictable at speed Good luck and enjoy Paul
  13. A fuel cell in a wooden box ? is different but if it works thats all that matters
  14. Gotta love that reply wiserfrombud, all we ever read about are how crappy new trucks are, I dont have one as I dont have the use, however if it was my job, day in, day out I wouldn't hesitate in buying a new Mack So Mr Wiser from Bud, do you know what Budlight actually means ? https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=246805740254746 Hope the link works, gave me a chuckle Paul
  15. Last I recall he was building a hotted up wagon for the new bride and I seem to recall as HarryS has mentioned he was about to start moving We arent getting any younger and he may well just be flat out like a lizard drinking And as Hayseed has already mentioned, he was posting on a regular basis up until he stopped, we maybe just reading to much into this I hope all is well for him Paul
  16. Im not disputing the weight at all as I have never even seen one of these motors and most likely never would, I just imagined it would of been heavier given the era it was made, Macks were obviously fairly advanced even back then Learning new things every day, thank you Paul
  17. This is were I would start, but I have no idea at all on modern motors so I cant answer to any degree apart from what I would look for on older mechanical diesels Good luck and keep us updated on the issue Paul
  18. My Federal had a back drop manifold, well still does but it was a HB Cummins so the heads are different as it isnt a cross flow Anyway great work your doing Paul
  19. Im guessing this last one will keep the cab cooler but maybe need a heat shield for the starter motor, or maybe not. All quite impressive to me
  20. I think its either 5.85 or 5.65 is lowest ratio for these Rockwell took over Timkens qxle division and continued to make these but as a 6 rod I have been told that the centers are interchangeable, I have two center's to replace the 10.22s in my Federal I'll find out when I try to change them if they are Paul
  21. I guess a lot depends on what and wear you haul ? Paul
  22. Looking at the second photo it looks like your chassis has been joined so I very much doubt thats original Paul
  23. I think they fitted these to some western Macks, dunno about parts but I feel they arent that common and certainly not in Australia Paul
  24. I believe that to be correct as well The whole show was a bit of a mess as a result Paul
  25. Welcome to the forum Paul
