  1. Well put ! Build a true Mack and die hard Mack guys will love it. Try to disguise a Volvo as a Mack and it gets called out. Pretty simple to see what's going on with the Volvo - Mack connection. I understand it's a new economy and things need to be more integrated but you can't just take a product and slap different badges on it.....remember GM in the 80's they slapped a different emblem on their cars and called them somethi g diffrent....then they had the balls to charge more for the same car. How did that work out? And you are right that if Volvo would listen to people they might gain more Mack customers that would praise both Volvo and Mack. The only thing I hope for with the current path Mack is on is that Volvo would let the mack design team back at the helm of their product or sell off Mack to a new owner that respects the brand and knows the customer better. Sadly most new school truckers won't even consider a new Mack and I feel this is what has to change first by just building trucks that people want.
  2. I'm at 12'4" and hit branches on back roads. The RD I drive at work is about 10' and don't have a problem.....more importantly....what's the lowest bridge in your aera? Here in Chicago it's easy to find a 11'4" bridge....
  3. Good point Fxfymn....when I see Cadillac I think of the chevron symbol, Chevy the bow tie, ford the oval...etc... They all may have slightly changed font or font size but the basics stayed through all those years.I think the new mack logo lacks tradition. It's bland and cold compared to other Mack logos of the past. I dident like the old logo much either but it was somwhat withing tradition. Personally I like the older bulldog logo from the 70's. It was simple, classic and colorful.
  4. That's what I figured with maintance issues...if you have a bad piston or rocker much more easy to pull down one hole than 2 I think some locomotive diesels have individual heads as well for ease of maintance
  5. I wonder why scania went with single heads vs the dual like on the Mack's,....was one considered better than the other?
  6. Kscarbel.... Just wondering , you seem like you really follow truck manufacturing history. Do you specialize in Mack's history or do you follow all brands? Is your vast knowledge of truck history from your career in the field or more of a hobby?
  7. Great info once again.....I think we should sticky some of these threads on these important topics.....
  8. Priceless....but pretty much correct..
  9. I haven't heard anything about delet kits. I know people with cummins can find them... Big issue I see is the EPA cracked down on some of the diesel tuners that were advertising delete kits. Lots of these ma and pa company's stay quiet now about them....
  10. This logo reminds me of one of my favorite railroads that once had a classic Midwestern color look and then for what ever reason went black and whit. The Illinois central
  11. In my opinion The video sucks....i got the feeling it was more of an ad about work gloves and blue jeans. Not to mention they dont show the product very much that they are intending to sell.... Edit....I see someone already posted the same thought about the work gloves......
  12. Interesting....why does it look like the drums have teeth on the back side of them?
  13. Ok flywheel it is.....thank you guys..
  14. Yes it is vlad......I found it on shapeways.com
  15. Seams your having a struggle....You have to select the pic from your computer, then hit upload....try it again...we would like to see it.....
  16. Here is my 95% finished RS700L and the 1/4 frame I'm building. The dump is powered by a home made screw drive with electric motor and 4:1 reduction unit. It pushes down on the front of the 1/4 frame and scissor action takes over. However I may need to replace this set up with hydraulics as it seams stressed right now. I will try a 16:1 reduction next to see if it has proper lifting power.
  17. I was told the same....and kinda the same example of why a 300 Mack would run with a 350 cummins....I was also told that Mack rated at the wheels because they made the whole truck and would test the H.P. loss thru the drivetrain and post the end H.P result at the rear wheel.
  18. Where does Mack rate their engine H.P. at these days? If I recall they used to rate it at the wheels? Where do other mfg rate the H.P at?
  19. The old guy is getting up there...he's 12 years old and hates going for walks now...
  20. Saw a post on Facebook that Mack was awarded a military contract that extends into 2018... Any truth to that?
  21. Yea...seams kinda high on the sides and up front near the a pillar....the cab I have looks more to scale. My hood looking from the front is a little off but as soon as you look at it from an angle it looks the part....
  22. Pawl.THE SUPERLINER is a friends.....not mine...I'm not sure what color he will be painting it....
  23. I think the superliner cab was made by a different designer... My buddy just got it and he said the cab is not correct. The cab made by CAA52( what I have ) looks more to scale. I don't think he has a superliner hood tho..
