  1. check if watts has a source for re prints?
  2. Hear the same think here as well as people that have been shopping for a new truck. Mack is always more $$$, has less options and not offering the potential owner the Engine HP wanted. This is mainly in heavy haul or construction.
  3. Thanks for that Info KS..... You really do have a wealth of info and the news reports to back it up... I hope you have most of your Mack knowledge written down on paper some where. If not, please start! or better yet perhaps a book written by you? 30 years from now I can foresee us all looking back to old BMT threads for long lost info LOL
  4. A friend in High school had a 2 speed glider in his 1962 Chevy Impala. Under normal driving first gear went up to around 20MPH and then 2nd took us all the way to 120MPH LOL. It had a kick down on it to downshift back into 1st but was rarely needed. you are right the car was fun to drive and smooth....
  5. I think many would jump at $200 just for the fact that its NOS. I would agree that having it copied and possibly reproduced may gain you more $$ down the road. Not that it would be a hot selling item but there will be those that want a near OEM reproduction part. Trent
  6. is that a automatic transmission? never seen one of these before?
  7. I think the parts have become very $$$ In fairness the trans is old and they cant keep making stuff that dont brake to often. PAI still had parts for it last timeI checked
  8. was it that the brake down with the numbers made it easy to know what each part was part of? I worked in auto racing and one of my jobs was to help with parts sales at the track. With regards to part numbers.... each part number started with letters to note what mfg it was built by. All numbers after that it was the mfg part number. at times we could have 5 different Mfg so remembering all the diffrent ways each mfg numbered their stuff was a big PITA.
  9. Gearhead204 got me hooked up...thank you again! This trans is not even in truck. I bought this trans for $2,000 from a guy in NJ. it was sitting in his shop after it had been rebuilt by mack and was ready to go in one of his fleet of CH and RD Macks if the time ever came to replace one. it never did. I pulled the top covers off and all the gears and bearings are brand new. I got the air shift cover and knob from Global about 8 years ago and when I moved 5 years ago I must have misplaced the knob somehow. Been itching to get it in the truck and thinking next year I may bring it to a shop to get it installed. here is a question Im not sure about... will the main stick on my 2 stick 6 speed bolt onto the top cover/main of the 12speed? Thanks for the input fellas
  10. Looking for the shift knob / air selector for the air shift Mack12 speed. If you have one and its for sale let me know. thank you....
  11. There were 2 different versions of 2 stick "5 speeds" The early version had Reverse and 1-5 on the main. the Hi / low was on the aux stick. this was a over drive transmission. The later and more popular was the 2 stick 6 speed direct. it had 1-5 on the main and Low/direct/Reverse on the aux (compound)stick. both of these boxes had a married aux box bolted to them.
  12. these new trucks and downtime.... I dont understand it. hope you get it fixed soon
  13. In the picture FreightTrain posted the Oil filters are shown below the turbo charger. Same location on the photo of your model engine. And yes the external cowl mounted filter/luberfinder seen on some Mack Westerns was an added option. Lets see more of this model you are building... I really enjoy the detail in your builds. hope all is well
  14. Got mine proudly hanging in the house. Its only a copy print but its something I always wanted as a kid after seeing one hanging in an office at a Mack Dealer visiting with my Dad
  15. That is absolute disgraceful if that is Volvos position. I bet they are worried about the truth being spoken? However I dont see how Volvo can stop him from writing a book. Glad to hear that. I hate reading yet I find his writing style enjoyable
  16. I will have to look for "bulldogs" I was not aware of that one....
  17. I have heard people talk about it but could never find one. The other week I just searched for it and saw Amazon had a few listed for around $15-20
  18. I just picked up this book from Amazon. By far one of the best books with information on Mack and its history up to the 1970s
  19. Congrats and very nice old Mack
  20. Paccar has that extended rear cab panel. Its not a roomy as this but it has the behind the seat room most day cab drivers would love. only issue I see is that backing up view is obstructed some
  21. Seams railroads use Wood or concrete in specific parts of the country. What works in the south does not work as well in the north. Last I read about them was that there was no real cost savings to run concrete as the life span and maintance was not any better. The one thing that was better with concrete ties was that they offer a more solid attachment to the rails than say spikes.
  22. As Ksarbel said .. No, the 300+ (315Hp) did not come factory with a 5 speed behind it. I see many owners and for sale ads comment in error of a 285 or 300 Maxidyne listed as a 300+.
  23. when I worked at UPS back in 1997 I loaded a few Ford trucks that looked just like this. They used these trucks to deliver to Commercial addresses that see large volume of packages each day. The truck was all over the map picking up and dropping off to company's that would otherwise overwhelm a normal package truck.
  24. does this truck have a torque limit switch on the transmission? Not sure what the technical name is for them but I know some trucks lock the engine from full throttle in the low gears.
  25. Will it get better. I hope so but likely you are in for a ride. I would not trust any of these new trucks as far as I could push em. I hope you just found a few simple mistakes and it makes you money...Keep us posted
