  1. That's the one I was trying to think of, lots of people had them in the 70's and 80's.
  2. I remember that- still remember my call sign, KAAT-3608.
  3. I was looking for a Corbitt picture, among thousands of pictures that I have saved on the computer, and ran across these oldies that might be worth re-running.
  4. Just south of Berkley Springs, West Virginia on rt. 522. This was once a terminal for a pretty good size trucking company- was it Colvin? They had a fleet of red and white cabover KW's, hauled a lot of silica sand from U.S. Silica, which is on 522 just north of Berkley Springs.
  5. Nice!
  6. Nice find! I'd have bought that radio too. First CB I had was a Sharp, bought it in 1976 I believe. I think a Royce was pretty much top of the line then! Royce, Sharp, Johnson, Midland,Teaberry, Pace...what was that other one?..can't remember, but these were all popular radios then, don't know if they still make any of them.
  7. I have ran the turnpike hardly any in the last 15 to 20 years until recently. Thought i'd save on toll money for the company, and save having to match any documents to any other documents, so I just ran rts. 79, 19, 39, and 20 all the time. Now that we have to run legal and have secret spy cameras in the trucks I take whatever route is easier for me. And it is no doubt quicker, with a lot less hills. For example, I left Sharon, Pa. one day last week at 1PM. I had 2 coils on, 46,000 lbs, going to Madison Heights- that's just across the river from Lynchburg. My 14 hours were up at 9PM. I don't know if I could have even made it by 9 if i'd went down 79, if I had I would have had to "hammer down" the whole way, and pretty much non-stop. I jumped on the pike, went over to Breezewood and down, and got to Madison Heights at 8:30, 30 minutes to spare!
  8. I went to Oswego once before. The late David Elder was with me, we had two loads of joists from Hancock Joist in Salem, Va. Before we got into town we saw dozens of people fishing in the river, some in the river with chest waders, elbow to elbow. We were going to stop on the way back because he wanted to see what they were fishing for and if they were catching any- he loved to fish. I was in front and ran by the pull-off spot we were going to stop at, so he didn't stop either, and complained all the way back because he didn't get to check the fishermen out.
  9. I didn't hear a thing, it might have been this one-http://triblive.com/news/adminpage/10463629-74/somerset-accident-turnpike
  10. That was part of the outfit that was clearing that wreck's truck.
  11. I barely had time to post these pics, i've been busier than a cat covering up doo-doo. Besides trucking, i've been flying back and forth to New York to meet with Kelly Ripper.
  12. Big excavators! A girl in a car- And a friendly jogger- ...And another girl in another car- Power plant I went to in Oswego, N.Y. Pteradactyls in the field at the power plant- those things are everywhere!
  13. Saw an accident scene on the Pa. Pike. A rock truck going up the hill over there- Big rock trucks-
  14. I got around this week, covered a lot of ground- I saw a pickup truck with big stacks on I-85 in N.C. one day. I turned my secret spy microphone on so I could hear what they were saying - I saw an oversize load in Pa. too. ..and a Superliner ahead... ...beside me... ...then behind me- Never mind.
  15. Really! At least pretend like you're a little bit appreciative of what you have too- none of that (boss man)- "Would you change that burned out light bulb for me please?" (employee)- "Naw,that's not my job, I was hired to keep the waste baskets emptied, not change light bubs."
  16. Oh no, I know all about birds and i'm with Gmerrill0516 on this one- the pterodactyl is definitely performing CPR on the squirrel. Poor little feller...probably got hit by a fire truck or something.
  17. You are exactly right about that, i've been stopped by a few police and DOT men who were fairly polite, but for the most part they treat you like a common criminal right from the start. I've heard people say "treat them with respect, and you'll get the same." Bullshit! I'm always nice, polite, and respectful to the officer if I get stopped for anything, but seldom get treated with any respect by them in return.
  18. I was looking at a row of army trucks at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds, from fairly old to pretty new ones, and I was surprised that every last one of them had an automatic transmission in it.
  19. yep, that's it.
  20. I have to admit, when I went over to the lunch truck there was hardly anything there that I recognized. It was all Mexican food, as most of the workers at this job site in Gaithersburg,Md. were Mexican. He said it was a beef burrito- didn't look anything like the burritos at 7-11,eh?- so I got one of them. But it was pretty good, and it was "stick with you" food- I wasn't hungry again 15 minutes later.
  21. I saw this video on Fox and Friends this morning...Anna Kooiman was extra smoking hot too- wow!
  22. I hate when they do that- might be my imagination, but it seems like when they get beside you they slow down to stay beside you, like they're waiting on reinforcements to get there or something.
  23. Oh...I'd much rather be in Lynchburg than anywhere near Richmond, but that's just me.
  24. I saw this sharp looking cabover Freightliner that was out of Canada at Cowpens, S.C. A red forklift at the shop. A green forklift at the shop, and a red truck down in back. They pulled this forklift out of the bushes, where it had been parked for 8 or 10 years, put a starter on it and some batteries in it and it started right up. It has a 3-53 Detroit Diesel in it.
  25. As soon as I told them I knew 1958FWD they gave me the red carpet treatment for some reason, it was amazing.
