  1. Interesting set up. Looks like it will work. Hmmm, but do you really want your passenger to work the brakes? LOL!!!!!!!!
  2. Now that's breathtaking................. After looking at snow for the last few months.....................that's NICE!
  3. NOT the B model LOL! I was almost thinking to use it, but circumstances made it impossible. You can't drive the truck home after the test. Didn't have someone who could! Anyhooo, I rented the truck down at Gnaddenhutten test station for $150? for the test. Little DT466 single axle Binder with 40ft flatbed. It had synchro'd 5 spd which makes it wayyy easy to drive. They also have a dump with tag trailer if that is your fancy. What changes? on the test? Or just the med card?
  4. I dreaded taking my test. Just take it slow and easy. If you looked rushed and confused that won't look good. Have someone walk around the truck with you as you do a mock pretrip(they'll have the book). Remember to TOUCH what you are talking about. TOUCH, TOUCH, TOUCH!!!! The incab part I kept forgetting to "DO" what I was describing(that's a failure in their eyes). Work the wipers(don't just point to them), turn on the defroster(don't just point to it). My tester was giving me "hints"(cough, cough) as she knew I knew what to do, just wasn't doing it fully. Don't worry about a couple gear scratches, as they'll give you some leeway(likely).
  5. Well, late as usual................. Happy Birthday Rob. Been busy all weekend and not online to see this. Hope it was a good one. Did momma treat ya right?
  6. Nice work so far! Really like the overal look of that bed. The tail lights look great! Very custom, but looks period correct too. Can't wait to see it done(bet you can't either).
  7. ..........cough............cough...........hack.....ugh......cough........... There, I feel better now Looks like my garage when I fire mine up. Soon as I open the front door, it bellows out like a coal fire!! The small exhaust fan on opposite end of my garage makes a small dent in the smoke issue.
  8. I remember the truck, though never saw it on the streets.
  9. That is the exact set up on a KW I was looking at. Never got to drive the truck, so can't compare, but it also had 4 spring under it. Not sure of the mileage on the unit, but the crossmember was severely cracked and needed attention if it was to be used to haul again. For the "toy" I was going to use it for, I was going to patch it up and re-use it. I would bet that it would be helpful under loaded condition but not sure how "soft" it would be bobtail?
  10. Welcome to the board mackmann. Pics............we LIKE pictures.........
  11. I'm the dumb one...my g/f offers to clean my house(won't let her), offered to buy a motor for the Mack(won't let her), offers to help with race car(haven't let her). Never said I was a fart smeller..............I mean smart fellar..............
  12. Got even less then a lump of coal Mike! LOL!! Just a never ending dream right now. Both the interior AND exterior work. Just having a hard time paying out money for "bling" when I have to save for fuel just to drive it. Dang.
  13. I still have the first IR 1/2" I bought 20+ yrs ago. Granted it's not used daily, but does the job with the 120# of air I have. A friend gave me a 3/8" model that really kicks butt. Take it off or break it off. Handy for all work being smaller and lighter then regular 1/2" Been wanting to upgrade my compressor to a two stage with 175# of pressure. Someday.
  14. I want to do black button tuff headliner someday. A set of matching door panels would really set it off(and hide all the old scuffs and scratches).
  15. I'm not saying there was a "quota", but surely if you were told money was short and cuts were going to be made, you'd read beween the lines and make an effort to enforce the law "a bit more". I stop and talk with my Sheriff buddy when he's lurk'n behind his favorite blind waiting to catch speeders running down this particular 4 lane hill in town. He's very forgiving, but sometimes when the driver becomes irritated, he'll throw the book at them. There is definitely a black and white difference in attitude in cops. Some are there to help, others are there to flex their muscle(they were picked on at school, their mom didn't hug them enough). I give them all the respect they deserve, as they do a job that for the most part I wouldn't want to.
  16. Yup, I know Gordon too. Met Leroy back in late 80's? Cruis'n Tusc.
  17. When I stripped/repainted my heaterbox way back when I had my local paint place "scan" a hinge cover plate for the doors(which was a really nice original paint sample) and had them mix me up a pint. It's very surprising it blends in very nicely with all the remaining interior of my truck. Luckily mine hasn't been butchered up with spraybombs in it's lifetime. They have very old paint chip books, but no Mack color codes(not many big truck codes anyway). Watts Mack was offering rebuilt door panels and dash panels that were painted. Does Barry have the official paint code? Or are you looking for ALL paint codes, including exterior?
  18. Mines on the frame, under drivers corner of cab. Shouldn't be too hard to come up with one as probably the same as used today? Check to see if wires are broke at switch before replacing it. Touch them together and see if lights work.
  19. Greg, you work at East? Do you know Leroy Dinger?
  20. ''I don't know of any chief that goes out and mandates more tickets,'' Lineback said." Ya, it's basically an unwritten rule I would think that any cop would know. As soon as the word comes down from up top that money is running tight and cost needs cut(like maybe police jobs), I think it would be beneficial to any cop to turn up the wick on tickets to bring in revenue? Duh? With the amount of cars, it's SOOO easy to find plenty that are speeding, running red lights, not signalling intent, blah, blah, blah. I think the only drawback to the whole situation is then the cop must be present at the court to contest it if the driver does. This in turn takes him off the road and unable to right tickets. Kinda a catch 22.
  21. A sharp razor blade and a set of sore fingers gets it clean for me...........LOL!!! Get some good brake clean(spray can), as they usually cuts into the paper and gasket glue and helps release it.
  22. Greg, Been in/out of Ky/Cin Airport bunches of times, but never had the fortune of driving around that area.
  23. I'm think'n not there Rob. No room at the Inn, but I'll put up with it. You'll see next week.
  24. Wanna hear a sad one. I bought a NEW chrome shell for my B model from Barry. I received it shortly after and promptly opened it up when I got it at work. I was FLABERGASTED!!! It was sick................it was rust brown...............the entire thing. Pretty sick for what I paid for it. I took it home and spent some time with chrome polish and brought it back to "new" looking again. I quickly put a TON of wax on it to keep it looking fresh and coated the entire back side with gennie Army cosmolene to seal it up. It's been on the truck for 6 yrs(or so) and still looks great. You can't buy quality much of anywhere anymore. Bought a bumper for my new '99 Ford dually back in '99(I ordered truck without bumper as I wanted a drop model). Ordered it thru the Ford parts dept and it came in shaded with rust too. Shabby work all around.
