  1. Well, it finally happened. The right front "arm" that attaches the axle to the "snubber" gave way. The upper ball joint fell apart allowing the arm to fall and bend itself up. So.....I need to either replace the arm OR retro fit some R model shocks on the front. Not sure how much those old 'shocks' really do? Probably not really an issue anyway, but do need to fix what's broke. Need to see some pics of R model shocks, how they mounted them, maybe the lengths? I could retrofit/make brackets. Got ALLLLL winter to figure it out
  2. Ya, I know about them old "broken" springs. Of course I kinda made mine work a bit more then they ever were suppose to. I know that was the reason the broke. My front spring look ok, but the drivers side has one broken "clamp" on it. You know those 1" straps wrapped around the leaves. Been wanting to pull it apart, never got to it. Got this real nice JACK I could use................oh, but dang it someones gunno take it away pretty soon.
  3. Neat looking old unit Rob. You sure do find them, don't cha? You trying to catch up with Superdog? LOL!!!
  4. Sounds like you need to get your compressor rebuilt. I did mine as it had bad oiling issues in the air tank. Not a cheap fix, but now it's dry as a bone. It always made good pressure, but just worn out. I'm wanting an air ride, and if I get one, I want something in the 4.1 or 4.3 ratio which will give me a few more MPH/drop my cruising rpm. I'll then part with my complete rear axle assembly.
  5. Low air buzzer? The govenor might be stickin? Does the pressure go way over if it just idles? If I could come up with my air ride, you could have my 4.62's. It gets you 65 in OD.
  6. Yup, glad to hear it moves/starts under it's own power. Electrical can be a real bear, especially with so many problems in one. You need to find some 4.10 gears for that ol dawg now. Get'r up to highway speed.
  7. Dog gone good look'n old F model. The roof ain't rotted off it yet either!! Someone definitely kept that one up. Hope you have fun with it.
  8. It's bad. Real bad. I hate to even thing about buying car parts, as it's all build in China and put in an American box here. You can tell which box was actually made in America, as the Chinese box paper is thin as tissue and falls apart before you get it home.
  9. Ohhhh, man. Wish I had the cash to do it! Surely don't NEED it...but sure would sound cool LOL!!
  10. Ya, the chalky red paint really does it justice. Be curious if it really is as rust free as it looks? For the money, looks pretty decent.
  11. I guess the FREE ones I got with all the spare parts when I bought my truck was a GOOD thing? WOW! I do have a set of plain black ones, since I swapped them out on my truck. Just need to find a nice set of arms to match the mirrors.
  12. 14volts is fine. I wonder if maybe they are getting shook up a bit much on the road? Causing some splash out of the vent? Is it individual caps? Usually overcharging will make them evaporate and be low on fluid.
  13. Well, sorta. Was out getting fuel tanks topped off for tomorrows drive and went by my friends lot. As I was talking to Bill Jr, Sr came out to leave with a handful of paperwork. I joked about it "being my lease papers?". He said "Sure". Jr then made a comment about needing new black signs, as the old ones were red. At that moment, Sr came out of the garage and slapped the sign on the door . Sr has been bugg'n at me for years now to drag a dump for them locally at the Timken Brg plant in Canton. Who knows? If my workplace get much worse this might not be such a joke!
  14. I'm thinking you just need to turn the battery polarity around, basically. The diagram was ok, you need it for POS. ground.
  15. My R/C planes never lasted long...........maybe it IS easier when you're INSIDE flying them?? LOL!! I'm much better with ground vehicles! I've found that I can back better, late at night, with no lights, blindsided, half asleep. Something about mid afternoon on Sat I can't put a trailer inside a football stadium if I try? Is it just me?
  16. Ouch! Did the switch come with a wiring diagram? I hated when I screwed with mine as I knew it would be a bad day when I smoked it by hooking something up wrong. Seems like you might need to reconfirm each cable and see where it got switched. Sounds like you got something grounded out or two batteries hooked directly together?
  17. The picture is good. Looks just like the one I had. Pretty sure you take the three screws loose(as shown in picture) and it should all slide apart. Keep an eye on the parts as you take it apart. You can rotate the segments after you pull the three screws, so keep them marked so it fits the same way.
  18. 7 yrs on the road and I don't get too worried when the fuzz is around, even when I crossed the scales. I looked in your profile, but didn't see the pics(only the truck). Usually in the rely post there is a "IMAGE" insert box you can click and it will link it to the post. Every website has a slightly different procedure, but not difficult.
  19. Looks like a great turnout! Glad it was better weather then here in the Buckeye state. I wish I had made the trip afterall. Oh well, maybe another day.
  20. Ya, Mike. My g/f and I were making plans to come over, but after it raining for the second straight day we decided against it this morning. Sure would have like to come. Seems I recall there are two long screws that hold the whole deal together. It's been 6+ yrs since I had to play with mine(and don't miss it). I guess when they work good, they're good. Mine got to the point of "on my last nerve" and removed all of it.
  21. It didn't stop raining til mid afternoon. Straight steady pour all day.................geez. Can't wait for the pics. My g/f was evening wanting to ride over to check it out, but we decided against it.
  22. Yes, there is a big flat washer that makes the contact for the starter. If it doesn't make full contact then it won't start. I used to have to pull mine apart occasionally. Thus it sealed the fate and I switched to 12v start.
