  1. I did mine a few times. Back when I had it rebuilt, then again couple years ago when one of the brass fitting cracked and started to leak coolant. GAWD, what a disaster that was. Put it on/off a few times trying to get the new fitting to fit in the area the old one was. Wouldn't go into pump far enough, had to take it out and retap the pump farther so it coule go in and clear everything. It had to clock in a certain position, so had to be care tapping it as to not go too far and have it not stop right. Man....leaning over that fender, going underneath, leaning over fender, repeat, repeat, repeat. Surely hope I never had to do that again. Oh, ya, forgot I turned the pump shaft just slightly as i was wrestling with it. That screwed up the alignment and then it wouldn't go back on motor. Drop it out, turn just slightly, re-try. Drop, turn, retry....repeat, repeat, repeat. Dam, can you tell it was a biotch.
  2. You smooth talker....................Rap master Mike. Rob, just get her a firetruck cab with no roof. Presto-chango convertible. Then get some alum. tubing, green tarp and duct tape, presto-chango a roof I have a buddy that takes his Mini down to the Dragon every year. Sounds like a cool trip, though could wear your azz out too. Imagine running a B model LOL!!
  3. That's FUNNY!!!! Actually if you think back, that bumper looks like a std issue A-car unit. Don't it? I think so, as the had that double bump look to them. Like to have one of them thar sherts meself.
  4. ,............or a lemon...............................
  5. No, the NEO chapter doesn't have any shows. I'm a member of both groups, though never get down to BVH meetings as they have them in the middle of the week and can't get to Columbus area then. The NEO has Sunday meeting, I go to them regularly. We are having get together at Lakeside Sand/gravel on April 26th. It's in Mantua area, Larry Kotkowski(owner) is a member, has big show each year with antique machinery moving dirt, our club with trucks, ALOT of food(free). Really neat day, I'll be taking the B model, Bill Peters from Orville likely taking his KW(not sure yet). If you want to go, let me know. I'm familiar with Jackson township, I live up by Kames sporting goods, off Cleveland Ave. If you need welding/fab work done, let me know as I have a buddy works at a shop and does awesosme work. He lives in Jackon township.
  6. LOL!!! Good one Rob. I tried the same thing with the B model. G/f came UNGLUED and demanded that I NEVER sell it. If I did, she'd buy it and keep it at her place so that I could always have it back when I wanted it. Dang women!!! Always demanding SOMETHING!!!
  7. Hi Ken. Welcome to the board. I'm in North Canton, so you're not far from me. Good look'n Mack, though like mentioned before....it's a short wheelbase COE, so it's gunno be a choppy ride. My B model is only about 150", so I know how "rough" it can be. Hang'n up high over the front axle of a COE will really make it rough. I've been wanting to swap mine over to air ride too, but so far all I've done is cut the spring down and with my race trailer it's livable. The g/f will actually fall asleep riding in it!!! Can't be all too bad LOL! Their is a show in Outville on May 1st. Put on by the Buckeye Vintage hauler(southern ATHS group). I can't make it that weekend, but nice little show.
  8. I put 2-12v group 31's(900 cca?) in my stock battery boxes with no problems. I have 4 total, with a 12v starter. It will wing that lil motor over for hours and not break a sweat. Start in 18* weather with NO ether. Not bad for 50 yr old diesel motor.
  9. "I'm gunno BBQ your ass in molasses" (to the parking lot that tore off his car door) "There ain't no way, NO way, that you could come from my loins" "Look at that ugly gator daddy" That reminds me, I gotta call your momma" (for S/B #2) "He sure did have alot of friends, Daddy" "Ya, if they woulda cremated the sumbitch I'd be kick'n that Mr. Bandits ass around the moon by now" "Where's the can, I gotta take a squirt" The one liners are just classic...................
  10. Good looking project. Looks like you got a nice BIG place to work! I have to go outside to change my mind when I work on mine LOL!!!
  11. don't worry.............ALL us Cantonians are A-holes............... Sad part is ALOT of shipper/receivers are like that. Back when I used to drive for our shop and get to some places it was ALL attitude when you rolled in the door. Like "why are you bothering me?". We play the opposite here, as it don't matter if I'm on lunch or whatever, I stop and take care of the driver. No sense in making it difficult. Alot of guys really thank us for going beyond the call. Used to go to Lindberg Heat Treat in Solon and I HATED that stop. "Doug" hated life and he made sure you were miserable when you were around him too. Been alot of years since been up there, and GLAD of it. That old red B model, is it sitting up in a truck lot on the east side of 77? I've seen it numerous times running down that way. Never be able to get in to see it, as I always get thru after the place is closed.
  12. But..........but it's on the internet...........it HAS to be true............................
  13. LOL!!! That's my favorite line when I'm out and a waitress or such makes a comment that "It's HOT in here". I just tell them........"that's okay, I'm leaving soon"
  14. Welcome to the site. Never heard of a sliding window for B model. It's not very big, so I'm curious to hear if someone actually has one.
  15. It's like I tell the g/f when we're at Lowes in the lumber section and all the "Stud detectors" go off and I say....."see, that's why I can't use them, I get close and they just go off"
  16. I used to run straight 50w in my '70 F100 back in the mid 80's. YA......good thick oil to protect things LOL!!!! Took a good battery to get it to turn over in the winter(but always started) LOL!!! Had LOTS of oil pressure too! I run 20w50 in all my hot rods now, but they don't see the cold. The harder part was getting the tranny to spin cause I had 85w-140 grease in it. Let the clutch out in neutral and the truck would stall. Took a few minutes, riding the clutch out slow and it would start to spin the gears. Ahhh, the good ol days. Yes, the multi grades were suppose to be the best of both worlds. Easy starting, with protection of thicker oil. I used to use PowerService in my Ford powerstroke diesel in the winter to keep it from gelling. Heard about it thru the internet(as never knew about it before). Truck driving friend mentioned something like HDDP or something like that that he used to run. PowerService comes in grey bottle, most any parts store should have it in the fuel additive aisle. I've run Lucas also, even used some in tranny back when I bought truck. Tried to thicken the old grease and get it to not knock so back when hot at idle. I just changed the grease last winter after pulling rear cover off tranny and it actually is really quiet now, but I also took a shim out of the bearing to tighten up the preload a bit. After 50 yrs, I guess it might have been a touch loose? Yes, got all the parts to put car back together, tranny still in pieces(almost ready to put back together), heads are freshened up and ready to go on, clutch got a go-thru too. Just need to get car home to put back in. Right now have buddys race car in garage as we spent the winter trying to put it together. I run 20w50 Valvoline Vr1 in race car with 85w-140 in tranny.
  17. Now that's FUNNY...........I don't care WHO ya are. Weather been pretty decent since end of last week. Not lasting long, so got the moticicle out for a ride Sunday and drove the hot rod to work today. All is not bad..........yet.
  18. Naw........she wouldn't never do anything like that. Lucky me....I'm allowed to "look", as long as I don't "touch" Rob, we know that you always speak nothing but the truth...........cough, BS, cough, cough, and are a man of your word............cough, BS, cough, cough. Ahem....
  19. I throw PowerService in mine about once a year to just give it the once over. With the LSD and such I wonder how the old girl does. Can't hurt to add something. I usually get fuel at one place, unless I'm far from home(not often anymore).
  20. Not sure of cost, but I wonder how comparable it is to a full side kit/tarp? Throw in all the time savings and easier job I bet it comes out CHEAP!
  21. Oh........someone else trying to sell my truck for me?? Cash talks! LOTS OF IT!!!! We'll even throw in a few driving lessons too.
  22. Ok, the cab portion looked "purchased", as getting the compound curve would be a bear. Or is it two pieces? The SS will stay nicer looking(since it's exposed), so the lower brackets could be aluminum as they are under the visor. Dang.......sure looks purdy! Always loved a freshly painted engine.............too bad they never again look that good(at least mine don't). I bet it will really put some guys reeling trying to decide WHAT it is once it's in the truck. I might have just painted it Mack gold or the grey color that was on the old 673's. That would really hide the fact it's a binder.
  23. Ya, strange to think times going by so fast that the kids are having kids. Short story: Last summer, was having a rootbeer down at Woodies. This lady walked over to my pickup and I recognized her. She worked at Maxi's in North canton back in the day(all the hotties worked there). Hadn't seen her in 15+ yrs? She recognized my pickup(ya, same one for 21 yrs now) and came to say hi. We talked of not seeing each other in years and then she introduced her GRANDKIDS! Doh!!! Her daughter was young last time I saw her, now her daughter has kids! I asked if that means we're OLD? This girl has aged VERY graceful to say the least.
  24. B615 should have the old n/a V8. 864? sumthin like that.
