  1. Saw him a few years ago at Quaker City raceway. He AIN'T steering that thing....it just goes straight from where ever he started LOL!! Rock'n and roll'n the whole way. It's crazy.
  2. I took the outer frame off my B because of spreading. They were only about 12ft long, but still a beach to get unhooked. Took a few hits with sledge and a longgg bar to get them to fall off. Glad to hear you got them apart.
  3. Looks great..............wanna come up and do my B? LOL!!! It's got 50 yrs of grease all over the chassis that needs cleaned off. (still need to get me a pressure washer).
  4. You guys are giving me all kinds of new job ideas LOL!!! Though it looks like the uniform covers a bit TOO much...............DOH!!
  5. I've seen pics of that before. Pretty cool to see it in person!! At a Ford event in Columbus every year, a really stock appearing one about that year shows up. I think he camps in it for the weekend? A little rough on the edges, but neat none the less. BTW, Rob had problems yesterday and didn't make it over to see me.
  6. Neat truck. Great story too. Hope you have lots of fun with it. Always wanted something like that, come in handy for trimming the trees around the house LOL!!!
  7. Ya, Summit motorsport park IS Norwalk. They bought the rights a year ago and put their name on it. Go every year for the all Ford show in July. We had a couple stick shift races there too. I did buy the wagon from the original owners. ALL stock and original(70K miles) down to the white mud flap out back. It was spotless condition(well taken care of) so I've tried to not cut it up any worse then I have to. My truck is black/white, which it's an EX General Towing truck(if you recall them), as they were all white with black fenders(like the old cop cars). I was down in Steubenville area last fall at a race and a fellow came up and said "that's Generals old truck, right?". Come to find out, he used to drive my truck back in the days.
  8. I used to get most at Brechbuhler, before they bought them(can't recall old name). Had an in at the late hours parts counter, as he would really take care of me. Used R/R a few times and the fellow remembers me when I do stop in. Not many B models around and when I mention that he remembers me. May 2-3 isn't good for me, though after that is possible. We'll play it by ear.
  9. Well surprisingly Rob will be at the house Sat afternoon, sometime?(to be determined). I've got a fellow stopping from Hinkley to pick up some pick up truck parts. Should be around most of the day? Might get lunch with buddies? Depends on how it all falls together(or apart?). Could take the trucks down to "Legends" (next to the BMV) and have lunch? Suppose to be nice weekend!
  10. Thanks, I'll be happy to know there is a simple switch over. If the upper bracket isn't available...I'll make it! Have steel, have welder, will travel!! I know my B has the heavy axle under it, though never actually found the numbers on it.
  11. CAK: Canton Akron Airport, though we call it Akron Canton Airport. Nice looking cars Brett. Definitely outta my league LOL!! We go 11.3's on average with 428 FE and a Doug Nash 5 spd. I run an all stick shift group called UMTR (united manual transmission racers) that runs NE Ohio. www.umtrnorth.com My "twins"
  12. Haven't got the car back to my garage yet, next week? First points race is May 23rd, so with my "vacation week" the first of May I will have no problem getting it back into one piece. Still working on buddies car and he's finishing it up this week, so hopefully next week he'll haul it out and bring mine back. If you get bored someday...fly up to CAK and I'll buy ya a coffee! I'm only a mile from the airport.
  13. Macks AND Fords...................PERFECT! Welcome aboard Brett. Get some pics posted when you get a chance. We really like EYE CANDY!! (trucks too)
  14. Ya, I suppose if you got rid of the gawdy sized MACK across the grille, it would be more subtle looking? I'd be curious to find who made the nose? And why? To each their own I suppose. I've seen alot worse.
  15. Yes, the gas motor uses the smaller boxes, so definitely would be a big box now. Though it still is not rated for the low end torque of a Maxi. With the use you plan, it will likely survive fine. This is my triplex, but it works the same way. The only difference is your sticks are changed position. The Duplex has the main closest to you, the compound away. They shift the same way other then I have three splits and you two.
  16. Good point Thad. Didn't even think about possible newer tranny.
  17. Sounds like you don't really need to split them with the Maxi motor. Typical shift pattern for Duplex 1 lo, 1 hi, 2 lo, 2 hi, etc thru the gears. Not sure how the straight or OD box compares, as the triplex and quad box have different shift patterns in 5th gear for single OD and double OD boxes. Unless you get a load behind it, drive it like you are.
  18. I called Matt early in the winter and he was out of ends. My uppers are completely shot and won't stay together anymore. That's the reason I converted to regular heim ends. Should be better then nothing as long as the pass. damper does move and don't kink the rod. A road trip in couple weeks will let me know. I too thought of regular shocks and might end up going that route. Time will tell.
  19. Didn't hear about it. Sorry to hear about it though.
  20. Oh CRAP!! That's crazy! Bet you couldn't pick your heart up after it hit the floor that hard. Man, that's pain. It's sad when people don't know and do stupid things like that.
  21. Smart fellar.............or fart smellar? Not sure what any of us are? Welcome AJ. Hope to see pics of the B soon. As you see, this bunch is not right in any shape/form(and they are funny shaped for sure). Hope you fit in.
  22. Ah.....what a co-ink-a-dence.............. Mine thru a rod last fall and I just got around to finally getting it all fixed up again. We'll see. I had one that was tight, the other was okay. I got my manual out and it called for some crazy no name fluid to be used. not much of an answer. I pulled the plugs and dropped some power steering fluid in(only took a few drops actually). I figured it needs to be a fine fluid, so stayed away from thick stuff. One works fine, the other is still stiff, though it does move. I made my own rods from 1/2"-20 grade 5 all thread and 1/2" heim ends since I couldnt find any replacement arms/ends. I got it all back together last Saturday, but haven't taken any pics(will soon). Hopefully it won't bend the rod on one side like it did? Time will tell. I looked at the unit pretty hard trying to figure out how it all came apart. No good. Seems the one version I have seen used on old T buckets were just rubber pads compressed among flat plates(no fluid needed). I think those were "friction shocks". Synders place is a top notch outfit, been there a few times as it's about an hour from me. They do high end resto work on alot of different stuff(for themselves only). They have a nice collection of Ford Thunderbolts(like 6 of them, the first and last one made), plus other lightweight stuff and unusual factory builds.
