  1. FYI: I needed at least one new shock link and couldn't come up with much so I made a new pair out of threaded rod and heim ends. Ran new grade 8 bolts through the original holes and works fine, so far. Not that they move much anyway
  2. This brings back memories of watching "High Ballin" with Jerry Reed and Peter Fonda. They are getting chased by the bad guys and Peter asks Jerry what he has for armament. Jerry says "I got a gearshift and a steering wheel" Pretty much the options for a B model
  3. Yup Glenn. Tada.... http://oldmacksrus.com//Info.htm Gives a complete run down of models, motors, trannys, rear ends, etc. My truck was a conglomeration, so the door tag don't match the frame serial number. The title(from door tag) is 1959, but the frame serial number puts it actually about a 1962 vintage(going by number sequence). Sheetmetal wise they are pretty much all the same, except for the wide nose models(B70's), then the "L" cab versions. Like the B67 had a shorter hood and fenders and sometimes the concave back wall to reduce OAL and allow pulling a longer trailer back in the day. The number part of the "B" is the basic weight rating of the truck. B42 is lightweight, gas model where the B81SX is the big mother load chassis. Same sheetmetal. Option breakdown? LOL!! Steering wheel, three pedals and some shifter levers is all you get. Power steering is about the only big option, beside maybe air start? Sorry, no A/C, radio or power windows/locks.
  4. Hmmmm, I'd like to see the picture of what you're working on Mike. I know my shutter gets it's air from a "Manifold" on the firewall(don't know what all it actually does), but no fluid that I know of in it. Air straight to shutter thermostat and then to shutter actuator. Works like a charm for years now.
  5. If no one can find it here, then ask Michelle. www.michellesfords.com She's into Ford trucks, big and small(she just restored an N model truck). She might have some information for you.
  6. Welcome to the site. Lots of guys here with R models too.
  7. That's ALOT of yellow!!!! Guess you won't be hard to spot Unfortunately I won't make it over. Got plans for Saturday night and Sunday. Sure do miss not making any of these shows. Hope ya have fun!
  8. The "indicator" sounds like only the light/buzzer? If you didn't replace the pressure switch then likely that's the culprit. If you replaced it and the buzzer still sounds, then the wiring is shorted somewhere.
  9. Tanks..............oh ya. Just this past summer my passenger tank grew a leak around the foot tread. Got it drained down and waiting for winter to do something with it. I've got one last spare, the foot tread is missing from it, and I'm just not sure what I will do. The drivers tank is okay so far, but who knows about it? I'd like to cut them both apart and weld in new panels, as the rest of tanks seem okay. I remember years back someone had a set of aluminum diamond plate tanks on a B model....that looked cool!
  10. After 8 yrs........my back starts to hurt just thinking of getting the B out of the garage. Looks like you got that problem handled!! Nice job. I can't wait to see this when it's done.
  11. Hey....I'm thinking two Macks on the STARTING LINE!!!
  12. Average 33.3 mph! Ouch!!!! Sounds like a typical Rolls Canhardly. Rolls down hill fine but can hardly make it up the next hill.
  13. Thanks. Good bunch of guys here and more then willing to lend a hand. Barry really helped out with my truck back when I first got it. I got over to meet him years back, but haven't gotten the opportunity to get the truck over there. I met Jim this past summer at a race, but his project didn't get done in time so I guess I'll have to wait til next summer? Pete at Thompson Dragway will not know what to do with TWO B model Macks at the track LOL!!
  14. Actually it really pisses off a few of the "fast" cars that run in our group. It just burns their hide that a big, heavy, slow car can win so much. "Faster is better"............NOT!!! That is why my car hasn't changed in 12 yrs. Consistency wins.
  15. Welcome aboard Dwayne. I'm over Canton way. You a member of Black swamp ATHS?
  16. Hey Glenn! Glad ya found us o'r here. Got plans to go pick it up yet? You definitely need to get over to Jim's house and check out HIS project. That will make any grown man cry LOL!! BTW, not sure if you DO want to get to know us? We're a pretty ornery/rotten bunch of apples round here.
  17. Here again, I don't earn a living with mine, but use it every weekend to pull my race trailer. It's been three states away without a hiccup or breakdown. Go through the essentials and it will last a lifetime(again). My friend jokes about having me pull a bucket for him, but doubt that will ever happen. Like mentioned, only 180hp will make "per load" money very slim by the end of the day.
  18. Dag gone Greg, sorry to hear about the house. Wish I could keep Faith for you, but you know how it is at MY house! Only got one more weekend of racing coming Oct 10th, so if there is something I can help out with let me know. Larry
  19. Time to get some bikes LOL!!! Can you hear it......"Pull over"....cha-ching,cha ching.......... Guess they don't get enough traffic violations to support the cars? Bummer.
  20. Hmmm, neat idea Tom..........LOL! Hey Rob! LOL! Pinks was at Norwalk last summer, I did try to buy tickets, but the website was bogged down and I didn't get through. Come to find out, I could have drove to Norwalk(1 1/2hrs) and bought tickets at customer service on the day they were released as hardly anyone was at the track. Oh well. I've had friends run in it, it's "cool", but it is a pain as you're dealing with TV production.
  21. They have those warning signs around Ohio, but surely not enough of them. They have put a few new lights on the divided 4 lanes around here and you can tell by all the skid marks how bad of an idea they are. I learned along time ago to treat the green as red and start to slow as it will change, unless I saw it just change green and I'm really close. Sadly they put those lights up because a few 4wheelers couldn't cross the interection without getting creamed, now they add the problem of trucks not being able to stop(or just driving too fast and not driving safely enough).
  22. Well, the last race of the season was last Saturday at Thompson. I went into the race #1 in points(been all summer) and with any luck I would stay there. It was a long day, had to work pretty hard to keep my spot, but in the end I kept it. There were 3 other racers that could mathematically get past me if I went out early. It came down to #2 having the chance as I lost 3rd round. "IF" he made it to the final AND won, he would pass me by 2 points and take the championship. Well, he lost 4th round and that sealed my fate. Was a good day! Our banquet is in November where I'll be crowned along with winning my prized given by the sponsors. On the list: A set of M/T rims and tires (like the ones I won back in '06 and have on the car now)plus things from Mr. Gasket Corp, and many others. After a long day..... Running it hard.....
  23. Gotta agree. Likely just had to run the "pink" light and hit the horn for warning. Not to say I've done it, but..............ya, couple times I've had to cut one close. Don't like doing it, but taking that last 1/2 second to decide I'll let loose of the brakes and roll it instead of trying to slide it to a quick stop.
  24. You lucky Dawg! Neat find, for sure. Rust would have a hard time get'n thru the bird poop LMAO!!! Does look very original, hope momma don't cut them off fully.
