  1. Well, guess we know who's truck will be parked out front at Thompson this year Pete will send me out to the back 40..... Fantastic work. I've thought of putting a radio in my truck........but would NEVER be able to hear it
  2. Do you mean just taking the rim/tire off the truck? Nothing serious there. Unloosen all the nuts(leave them on) and smack the wedges and kick the rim loose. Now remove the wedges and remove tire. The early 20" tires were split rims, but that has nothing to do with removal from truck. Spokes do look good when all painted up with contrasting colors. I did mine with spray bombs 9 yrs ago. They need some work now and wish I could get them sandblasted. Chrome nut covers add some style. I'd like to chrome my center covers.
  3. Good luck with the new job. Welcome to the real world
  4. Nice find. Looks like he's using his Dodge pickup? Like usual.

    Damn:

Dang..............truck and trailer. Looks pretty decent too!
  6. .......Oh shoot. Thad took the words right outta my mouth......... Ya, right. I know our company does something similar as it's been a few years since I played with it(did some simple word editing).
  7. Great job so far on the website(oh, and truck too). Will be waiting for updates.
  8. That's some funny stuff there Rob. Good work.
  9. I think back in the day you could likely get blue or green. A lot of guys did change the lense colors, but likely illegal by the letter of the law. I don't think I'd sweat it on a toy truck.
  10. Geeeeezzzus............wow that hurt! Seems just as soon as the load came on it went south. You can see what looks like the water control behind the motor drop down, then the motor goes into this "wince" and it comes apart. I wonder if this was a load test(try to blow it up)?
  11. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390154956946&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmotors.shop.ebay.com%3A80%2F__%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm39%26_nkw%3D390154956946%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 Nice B model. Wow...it surely is clean and dry. Wish I had a reason and a place to put it.
  12. Most all my stuff uses FL1A (all Fords), but the Mack gets NAPA stuff since I get discount prices. Only one change a year, so not a lot of money spent on it. Bad thing is they don't offer a HP1 anymore, so did run a Fram last couple years on race car. No problems, though I do crank on it til I get oil pressure before I give it ignition power. Heard plenty of problems with blown up filters, lucky not me.
  13. Yup, like Rob says, follow the battery cables and determine which one goes to the frame(ground). I converted mine to 12v start(with alt)and neg ground and it starts fine with only 2-12v batteries(group 31). I wouldn't suggest that if you get freezing temps, warmer climate is fine. Does your AMP gauge still work? If converted to NEG ground, someone had to switch the leads on the back or it will read backwards. I removed mine and installed VOLT meter instead(have to change wiring as it is different connections).
  14. Budget?? What's that?? LOL!!! Sounds like a pretty cool idea.
  15. Not sure about the IFTA sticker? I put one one mine that first year, but then cancelled it so never reported any "tax". Not sure if they would just look at it or run the number and see you aren't included on his paperwork? I'm pretty sure you have to have paperwork showing the truck that the sticker is assigned to(just to keep this from happening).
  16. Well, glad to hear you got over that hurdle. As for fuel tax? When I was going to NY for national covention, I was going to purchase temp passes, but decided to cancel it all and go historical. I suppose you could do the same, call the state you are traveling through and purchase the pass. Or just fly under the radar and hope no one sees you(don't hit scales).
  17. 30 yrs ago I wanted to be a truck driver, and thought there was nothing else I would ever want to do. Well, I get to play truck driver on the weekends, but got a 9-5 job that pays the bills. Sometimes you gotta do what ya gotta do. Don't fret it, it might just take you a few side steps to get to your final destination.
  18. We got a few inches last week, but not enough to get the Cub out and plow....though I could have to just have fun(too cold though). I love my Cubby!
  19. Man Rob........you're running around faster then a porn star with a limp............um.........well, you sure are busy! After buying my truck I had to get the front brakes hooked up/working. Everything was frozen solid and took some heat to make the brakeshoes move/s-cams work. Re-honed the bushings and everything works great. How's your kingpins? Definitely want to work on those since you got the hubs off! Actually really easy project to do, my pins came out pretty effortlessly(Compared to ford trucks). Oh, ya, any input on speedo pickup? Just wondering?
  20. I working on a similar project, but I'm going with 4.10 gears and my single OD Triplex. I agree, even with my 4.62 gear now, it's kinda fast in Reverse. It will be worse with the change to 4.10. With my 14K trailer, I usually start in 2nd LO(very easily), but likely need 1st LO with the change out back. With the added length in my frame a Brownie would really be an asset giving me a deep first when needed. THREE sticks......Ya boy!
  21. Electrical ain't all that hard. Just can't let the magic smoke out
  22. Pretty cool idea. Years back a buddy who is bodyman did that with front of a 80's Mustang and build a toybox for his kids stuff. Seen others that build sofas out of them. About 15+ yrs ago there was a '65 Buick running around with a matching "back half" trailer that he could unhook, attach a tiller to front support tire and using golfcart electric power to drive it around. It was a "C" cab arrangement, with just the back half of the car with back seat. All painted to match. Inventive people.
  23. A ha. I see. Guess there are more variations to this stuff then one would think.
  24. My Uncle had the best advice: "Never bring anything to a fight you can't EAT". His three boys were holy terrors and built for it. He of course was meat slinger so he was no slacker. Of course this was 30 odd years ago when you DID just fight with your hands(no guns/knifes). Just two guys with a beef to settle.
