  1. Sounds like the deal went through then?? I love the sound of the Harley, but just can't justify the cost(of even a used one) so the ol 1100 Shadow will have to suffice for now. Typical dealership, they want to push "their service" on you as they pretty much know that 99% of the customers are pencil pushers and can't hardly check the oil let alone do any maintenance! It's all about the "image" of owning one, not being able to work on it LOL!! Remember......."Buy a harely, Buy the best. Ride a mile, Walk the rest" LMAO!!!
  2. Ya, I like that B model too. Not fond of the "european" double rear fenders, but I really like the overall truck. Seems alot of nice trucks going to be at the auction this year. Once again I can't even make plans to go as that weekend is my first points race(again).
  3. Dang..........here I thought maybe I'd see a picture of MY truck...... Dennis at Oldmacks.com had a 4 door cab for sale some time back(or was it just an extended cab?) from a fire truck. Would have been a neat project. If you are serious, contact him and he might be able find something for you.
  4. I like it Barry. Hopefully it allows the pages to load a bit quicker, at least on my computers. At work it's rediculously slow to refresh.
  5. Just watch "swamp loggers" and you get the impression that they're closing tomorrow. Death and dispair is the whole show. It is interesting to watch most times, compared to the other crap on TV. Ain't say'n much though.
  6. Nice project. Can't believe it rotted in Texas? Seems it would be hot enough to keep it dry, but guess not. Take lots of pictures and keep us updated.
  7. LOL! old neighbor stops by on his homebuilt chopper and usually has to ask for a wrench or two to tighten stuff back down. Lots of Red locktite, but still not enough. Hardtail springer with s/s motor.
  8. That is why mine still rattled........no one had fixed it permanently?
  9. Mine was loose and rattled so I took it off long ago. Pretty sure it just snaps on there as I was working on the extra steering column I have the other week. There is a sprung steel ring in a cup that I think is used to hold the button on. Might take some persuasion to get it to pop? I actually was able to pull the wheel off that extra column really easily. Once I got the nut off, using a steel slug I was able to hold the column between my legs(supporting it by the wheel) and smack the center and the wheel came right off. Huh, never worked that easy before. The wheel is really cracked up bad so I used an air motor to grind out all the cracked areas. I want to bring it to work and sand blast the exposed metal ring so I can start to epoxy it and hopefully paint it up nice and install it on my truck. We'll see.
  10. LOL!! Ya, I know all about that. I usually have to "coast" to get it quiet enough. Or have it so loud it's so distorted you can't understand it anyway. I would like to put some sound mat in my cab too. I have 3 layers of carpets/sound deadner on the floor, but the cab and doors could use some.
  11. Well, guess we know who's truck will be parked out front at Thompson this year Pete will send me out to the back 40..... Fantastic work. I've thought of putting a radio in my truck........but would NEVER be able to hear it
  12. Do you mean just taking the rim/tire off the truck? Nothing serious there. Unloosen all the nuts(leave them on) and smack the wedges and kick the rim loose. Now remove the wedges and remove tire. The early 20" tires were split rims, but that has nothing to do with removal from truck. Spokes do look good when all painted up with contrasting colors. I did mine with spray bombs 9 yrs ago. They need some work now and wish I could get them sandblasted. Chrome nut covers add some style. I'd like to chrome my center covers.
  13. Good luck with the new job. Welcome to the real world
  14. Nice find. Looks like he's using his Dodge pickup? Like usual.
  15. Freightrain

    Damn:

Dang..............truck and trailer. Looks pretty decent too!
  16. .......Oh shoot. Thad took the words right outta my mouth......... Ya, right. I know our company does something similar as it's been a few years since I played with it(did some simple word editing).
  17. Great job so far on the website(oh, and truck too). Will be waiting for updates.
  18. That's some funny stuff there Rob. Good work.
  19. I think back in the day you could likely get blue or green. A lot of guys did change the lense colors, but likely illegal by the letter of the law. I don't think I'd sweat it on a toy truck.
  20. Geeeeezzzus............wow that hurt! Seems just as soon as the load came on it went south. You can see what looks like the water control behind the motor drop down, then the motor goes into this "wince" and it comes apart. I wonder if this was a load test(try to blow it up)?
  21. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390154956946&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fmotors.shop.ebay.com%3A80%2F__%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dm39%26_nkw%3D390154956946%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1 Nice B model. Wow...it surely is clean and dry. Wish I had a reason and a place to put it.
  22. Most all my stuff uses FL1A (all Fords), but the Mack gets NAPA stuff since I get discount prices. Only one change a year, so not a lot of money spent on it. Bad thing is they don't offer a HP1 anymore, so did run a Fram last couple years on race car. No problems, though I do crank on it til I get oil pressure before I give it ignition power. Heard plenty of problems with blown up filters, lucky not me.
  23. Yup, like Rob says, follow the battery cables and determine which one goes to the frame(ground). I converted mine to 12v start(with alt)and neg ground and it starts fine with only 2-12v batteries(group 31). I wouldn't suggest that if you get freezing temps, warmer climate is fine. Does your AMP gauge still work? If converted to NEG ground, someone had to switch the leads on the back or it will read backwards. I removed mine and installed VOLT meter instead(have to change wiring as it is different connections).
