Even the 2" rachet straps are CHEAP to buy anymore. They build a 10 sec race car and can't afford some kind of tie downs? I've seen some with those little 1" straps with J hooks bent on the end. Tying down a 3000# vehicle. Well, the strap says it's good for 750# each, so I should be good, right?? I remember one couple that ran a '63 Galaxie. Their trailer was soooo short, they would pull the car up against a 4x4 on the front edge of the trailer and then run two straps from the rear bumper FORWARD to the end of the trailer. OMG.....if they ever had to hit the brakes that car would take the roof off their pickup.

That will be pretty cool when done. I gotta agree on the 4 point tie down. Don't half azz it like I see SOOO many drag racers. One chain on the front, one come along on the back!!! JEEZUS.....they are VERY trustworthy! I knew a fellow 20 odd years ago that didn't even strap his car down!!! Yup, pull up on trailer and put in park and then get in truck and drive away. I don't know how he never killed anyone(or himself). Even if you mount a pair of short chains on the front, pull car up, latch it and let it fall back tight. Then two rachet straps on the back. Easy.

I seem to remember the pair, the purple/pink one especially. Look'n pretty good after getting dolled up a bit with fresh paint.

Seems Dan had some very interesting conversations with "Ernie" when doing the R-D truck. Have to search back as I think he posted about his death last year and made comments.

Mine did great for a few years, my worst leak was air wiper switch. I think it needs a new o-ring again? It is annoying that it won't hold air over night(or even through an afternoon), but not worth chasing. After putting a new leveling valve on the air ride, it stays up for weeks, even if air is down on truck.

I didn't realize they offered alum square tanks. Was that an option back then? I'd really like to have them for my truck. Been talking of making my own, but if they are out there?

Slacked most of Sunday. Had a racer come pick up a transmission I fixed for him. Slacked off some more then got the hog out and went for a 2 hr ride. Came home and washed the pickup. Slacked off and went to bed.

Look'n good. I'd check into the brake light pressure switch, likely stuck and the reason the brake lights come on as soon as you turn the power on.

Know a local fellow that has a 501 gasser B model pulling a pair of very short doubles. 55 mph is lucky going downhill. It too is a very nice truck. Just really, really slowwwww.

Hmmm, good point The trailer is rated for 21K pounds. They figure the truck weighed around 20K, and the SUV is on the nose supported by the tractor so "it should be fine" DOH!!!! Only problem, every time one axle gets light, the other two take the weight(all of it). Sooner or later you are going to break an axle stub off.

Yes, looked like typical 3spd, but the tailhousing was bigger and the main case had a bump in the side. Never took it apart to know what all is inside. There was a solenoid on the tailhousing that was the kickdown to get it back to direct. The lockout cable bolted on back there somewhere also. It sat under the bench for 12 yrs? Finally sold it to a fellow I know from racing. Gave it awayt for $150 for everything. Found out they are worth $1000?? DOH!!!

Yup, had a lock out handle you could pull. Push it in and release throttle over 35 mph and it would go into OD. There was a button on the firewall, activated by throttle linkage that was the kickdown if you just pushed it to the floor it would kick out of OD, kinda like passing gear. As long as the handle was pulled out, it would not go into OD. When in OD, it would freewheel when you let off the gas. No drag on the engine, some kind of one way sprag/clutch set up.

Ohh, for me dropping off copies for them? How nice. Like I mentioned previously, the lady went to make copies and I told her those were her's to keep. She thanked me.

I told her that it being a stick did NOT scare me away. We set a meeting for Monday night and I bought it. It was not going to be a race car originally. I put a 4 spd in it a few months later. Then a local track reopened and they had a stick shift class. I was going to run my '69 F100 but talking with friends I decided to transform the wagon into a race car instead.

Wow...the interior turned out great too! Nice work. I have TWO bostrom seats in my truck. I really like them, rides fine for me and the g/f. Mine had recovered in a black tweet like cloth(pretty tough material), hers is still original black vinyl. I got about 5 or 6 seats from a friend that retired from Timkens. They go through them constantly in the straddle trucks(that haul the steel to the storage yards). I still have a few laying the back, not sure how complete they are. Broken brackets and such from wear/tear. Timken would just pitch them instead of repairing them.

One owner, man passed away, woman could not drive it due to being a stick shift. Had her BIL get it out and try to sell it. Sat for about a year, I knew about it(saw it plenty of times), but never stopped. Didn't want a wagon, wanted a 2dr. Finally ends up in town in the back lot of local car dealer(apparently friend of family). I stop and look and realize it is not a rust/bondo bucket and figure they want BIG money as that is why it never sold. Nope, they were asking $2500 but no takers since it was stick shift. I ended up giving $1800 and driving it home. Had the big white mudflap across the back, original 14" bias ply white wall tires and the seats all covered in clear vinyl. It was a really nice car, quiet as a mouse and road smooth as glass. Not now of course LOL!! I still have the drivers side visor covered in the vinyl(if you look at the video you can see it). The glove box had the original owners manual with warranty card filled out. I don't want to cut the car up anymore then I have. I still have all the interior but the carpet.

You can self certify, but don't recall what you have to do. When I just renewed, the lady asked me what level. I wanted #1(interstate) to cover all my bases. I have the med card, so no sense in limiting travel. I think I had to sign the form? Can't remember the details now, that was last month LOL!
