  1. Local potato chip company ran single tire duals on their boxes. No need for "heavy" suspension when you are hauling bags of AIR!!!
  2. Well, that explains the triplex. Wonder if it has a 237? Or is someone just guessing?
  3. My work has a '01 F150 with 5.4 and it has near 300K miles on it. Nothing done to it basically. Lots of different drivers and abuse and still runs fine. Couple coil packs is about all that has been replaced on motor. We bought it one year old, 16K miles on it. Couple friends have V10's and 100K miles and no real issues. The early ones had plug pop'n issues, but surely that is addressed by now.
  4. My buddy custom made a goose ball hitch for my truck originally. It's a very heavy plate, ball sunken in the middle, bolts down the side of frame where 5th was at. It's propped up beside the garage presently as I wanted to switch it back to 5th wheel as it is so much easier to hook/unhook. I don't have any pics handy. I've seen guys just put a beam across the back and put a ball on it. I have a diamond plate tale panel so it is all covered up and not able to do that.
  5. I remember the pumkin COEs having them tiny tires all around. Wondered what the real thought was? Keep the speed down? Or were tires cheaper?
  6. I wondering if that tag was not factory built? I know of another H like that with the same type set up. You adjusted the arm to one of the two spots to adjust the amount of weight that was put on the tag. Bet it was a real bugger in the snow since you couldn't dump it off easliy. I'm guessing a lowboy truck with the ramps going up to the fifth wheel plate area.
  7. Welcome aboard. Post plenty of pics..............other then of yourself. That O-D character tends to get creative with photoshopping.....LOL!!
  8. Triplex? Wonder if it started life with a 250 HP ENDT673C? Or is it not a 237 now? what's a 609 listed for motorwise?
  9. Torsion bar suspension. It has about a 5ft long bar going to each wheel. Unique set up for sure. Not too popular anymore due to lack of parts for them and if they were not maintain(greased) they got tore up pretty good.
  10. Mine is the actual 4" square tube that fits in the neck. I think it was about $150.
  11. That is one of the BEST truck shows I think anyone could put on. Too bad it doesn't take off down here somewhere? The only thing that scares me is the half azz jersey barrier placement and the crowd being 5ft from a truck coming at them at ?? mph. Anything stupid goes wrong and I can see lots of problems. Thus why they don't do it in the sue happy US.
  12. Been there, when I was 10. Hope things go well for you.
  13. Then sell it for mulch and make a buck on it.
  14. Could you IMAGINE if the fellow getting it on video was about 10 seconds ahead of schedule?? OMG!! It is tragic and I just consider how much worse it "could have" been. Just think a school bus load of kids crossing that bridge...........or something along those lines.
  15. CORRECT ANSWER!!!! (and one of my favorite lines, as I use it myself sometimes)
  16. Well, at least you got it apart. Now to find a spring. The thing I would wonder is if you could find a set and replace them all now. It could be a fluke or it could be the start of something.
  17. I had local hose shop make up new lines for mine way back when just because. Of course now I don't have that set up anymore since I got a spin on style mount from an R model.
  18. Might get away with just pulling the spring and just replacing it. As long as it didn't bend the valve. Have to diagnois it more.
  19. Welcome to the forums. Governor bad? Kinda like your shop compressor it tells it when to pump. It reads pressure in system, when it gets to preset number it pushes on unloader valve(so the pump just spins free). Once the pressure drops it kicks it back in again. Typically when a governor goes bad gives you those symptoms. We're talking a $15 part at local truck parts store. Just replaced mine on the B a few months ago. It was getting erratic and sometimes only getting to 60# of pressure. Looks like this:
  20. Ohio prints your license while you wait(couple minutes).
  21. I run Rotella 15w40, and I think that is pretty common for everyone no matter the climate. The filter will depend on if you have THREE lines or only TWO from the bottom of the filter canister.
  22. KInda like the Chevy malibu back in the early 80's. Use it up before the rear frame falls off(along with the bummper). It was common to see bungie cords holding up the bumpers to the deck lid.
  23. Typical any 80-90's Ford truck the paint bubbles on the frame and then rots bad from under the paint(just like the oil pans back then). No matter how clean you try to keep it. My '89 came from S. Carolina and I oil spray it heavily once a year and it is still clean underneath. Messy, but no rust. Did the doors, under bed, tailgate, hood, fenders. It has oil slime coming out everywhere..............but it will NEVER rust. It is likely the cleanest looking '89 running around Ohio right now that sees weather all year.
  24. My point. I'm not that heavy, but any kind of grade and I'm slowing to a crawl and lots of gear changing.
  25. Dammmm, and I was just going to get lunch.
