  1. Well, back in the 70's when I first started on my buddys base station I was "Silverstreak". Mainly because I loved the movie when it came out(with Richard Pryor and Gene Widler). After getting on the interweb thingmabob I became "Freightrain", but rarely ever get called that on the radio since nobody really talks on them. Got them in my daily driver and the B model(though hearing it is a concern LOL). It was always handy when I traveled the highway to work everyday(construction for 10 yrs straight). Not so much anymore, as I take back roads. But I will always have it just in case. In the racing crowd I'm "Battlestar" because of the car. Though have been know to answer to "Hey A-hole"........ Grew up with a Navaho 23 channel, finally died a few years back and I found a President Madison base to replace it. I like the old stuff too, even though I have Uniden's in the trucks. I do have a vintage Realistic "phone" CB upstairs. I always wanted one growing up, since it looked like you were talking on the phone and that was cool back then(long before cellphones). It works, but is pretty noisy with the lack of much filtering in the power side. Cool none the less.
  2. I'd pull the line down off the valve and see what kind of pressure/volume you have. I agree, could be pretty weak and once you have air being jammed back down the diaphram won't respond with the lack of air volume. Make sure the trumpet is screwed firmly to the base. I know mine was loose at one point and was sick sounding. Once I grabbed it and snugged it up, it is crazy stupid loud.
  3. Yup, seen it a few times make exhibition passes.
  4. You can't really kill a Detriot............even though Yardo no one here would ever try Usually some basic maintenance will get it buz'n with full power again.
  5. Pretty cool. Bet that is one rough rid'n short truck!!
  6. I dodged the bullet last week. Yup, up by the lake it was BRUTAL, with getting FEET of snow. Shutting down I90 and such. Canton didn't get anything. We finally got about 4" yesterday morning. Now just it's single digits and wind!! Ugh. I hate winter.
  7. Buyer has joined BMT!
  8. Welcome aboard. Yup, put some new filters on it. It sounds just like my truck after I bought it. Ran fine around town, the first short jaunt up the highway and it would start to cough and sputter. I "assumed" the maintenance had been kept up from the towing company. Not so much. The filter was near clogged shut with slime and crap. Once fixed, it has purred for 13 yrs now.
  9. Wow....you surely are cleaning out the garage! Neat stuff. I do work for a fellow with an original 454 Monte. My friend back halfed it a couple years ago and he put a 800hp blown 496 BBC in it. We questioned why he could cut up an original 454 car. He said "cause he wants to". He's had it forever and wanted to pro street it.
  10. Got one, but it is just a table top Craftsman version. Does want I need it to, but woulda loved to have a more industrial version. When doing metal work, you gotta have something to knock the burrs off!
  11. Now that's thinking outside the box.
  12. The bad part is typically there is no place to get ahold of the wheel with a puller. NO threaded holes and if you try to grip under the lower edge it is so brittle it just breaks the plastic.
  13. Ohhh, cool. Xmas presents to me?
  14. 11 tooth? Interesting factoid. Thanks, I was curious to what mine was and was going to drop it to count.
  15. Just had to remove mine this past summer. I loosed the nut just enough, then using my air hammer with small round headed chisel I whacked on the shaft while lifting the wheel slightly with my legs. Popped right up. Leaving the nut on allows you to make sure the threads don't get messed up. No lube needed, but some PB shot down on the splines under the nut CAN'T hurt. It really went easier then I though it would. Ditto on the shop. Nice, and you don't have to go outside to change your mind like my garage LOL!!
  16. Welcome aboard. Nice truck AND dog.
  17. Holy Pumkin holders Batman!!!!
  18. Happy Birthday anyway......................
  19. At first glance, I thought it was a Cruiseliner, with those single headlights. Does also have many "G" looks to it also(no wonder). What suspension is it? Does the rubber band make it have that cantilever set up added to what was there as a single axle? I've seen other belt drive trucks, but never paid enough attention. This one looks unique.
  20. Wow, bet that is a heartbreaker to see drive away for the last time.
  21. Hmmm, Saturday? I spend the first half in a meeting for the big truck show in Ashland(i'm on the committee). Left house at 8, got to Bills at 9, got to Ashland at 10. Meeting til 1. Got back to Bills at 2. Got to buddy's work at 2:30. We went to Alliance so he could buy a car. Finally back home at near 6pm. Then met him for dinner at 7, home just after 8pm. 12 hours gone!! Sunday I was suppose to do truck club auction, but I got so much NOTHING done on Saturday I spend the day doing chores/shopping and such.
  22. Ya, price per year was not bad at all. And for not having to deal with flats or such was also a good thing. I try to keep things simple. I'll spend some money to make my life easier. Plus the fact when a front goes out it usually takes lots of things around it with it. Not a good thing in my book. Paul, they are 22.5's.
  23. My .02. Ya, B71 with the extended nose is pretty unusual to see anymore. Pretty sure that was done to fit a cummins in the smaller hood trucks. Wonder if it is just the clutch disc is rusted to flywheel? Or is one of the transmissions stuck in gear? Typically the shifters will get gummed up from sitting. MIght take a prybar under the floor and some lubrication to get it back to working. If not, might be broken inside? Hopefully just needs clutch broke loose. Truck looks pretty solid/rust free? Pricewise? $5K depending on how nice it is in person?
  24. Ya, I spent $1800 back when I put all six on it(converted from tube type). Didn't think time would go by so quickly and have to do it again...ugh. I figure $400+ for a decent tire like a Firestone or such. I would hope someone would give me something for these old ones? $75 each? $50? Or would the date code pretty much make them worthless for anyone?
  25. Ok, after 12 yrs on the Yoko's on the front of the B, I noticed some very fine checking on the sidwalls. Not broke through, just fine lines. The tires are dated 13 yrs old, but with only 50K miles on them they have life left in them. I plan on putting a new set of steers on next spring just because I don't want to have to deal with a blowout. The drives have no issue and I don't feel they are as much a problem if they did. Up front, I kinda like to not have to wonder when they will come apart. Would they be worth anything to someone for a trailer tire? Kinda like to get a few bucks back to cover the new ones. I doubt I'll get new ones for the $250 I paid for these back in 2002. I know it is at least $500 each now if I try to get something better then a chinese knockoff. Or maybe it isn't worth it?
