  1. Agree, finding something worth taking out of a 50+ yr old truck and making it useful again will be a tough deal. Way too common to have them butchered up to find one worth keeping. Like mentioned, the insulation will be dried and broken too. Not factory, but places like Ron Francis and Painless have universal wiring kits that would be easily adapted. Unless you are dead set on originality.
  2. I have the Mack manual at home. Don't think there is much difference beyond some extra air getting blown into the 205 version. Block might have oil cooled piston nozzles installed? I've had thoughts of putting a turbo on my and just see what happens. Don't want to burn it up trying though, as it runs too good to mess it up.
  3. I paid extra for the "deluxe" version. It comes with extra scotch loks and duck tape just in case you need them.
  4. I'm hoping my door is unfroze maybe by this weekend? Sure would like to try out the new air steering beside sitting in the garage making motor noises and........well........um..............................
  5. Best of luck with the new job!
  6. Hope it is better then the system I bought. Flybynyte was the manufacturer.............. All the instructions were in Philipino. Took me a couple days to get it sorted out before I could install it........................................
  7. Just Azone generic 134a.
  8. I don't have to worry about getting stuck IN it. I can't even get my garage door open......... I wanna go out and try my new air steering> Dammit....
  9. Man, I just love the paint on that Super. Just old school cool.
  10. Well, as of Sunday it is complete. The a/c is all hooked up, lines, power, belt. You can turn the unit on and the fan works and it also powers the fan on the condensor. I had to add a tensioner bolt to the compressor to allow for easier belt adjustment. Just sitting in the cab with the fan on high.......it is quite a blast of air. I think if it cools as well as it should, it should be quite chilly. We'll see how it does with the old drafty cab at highway speed. I think it is suppose to be 14K BTU and that is larger then a typical small window air conditioner, so with this little cab I think it will be good. Now if I could get the door of the garage open I could charge the system. The air steering is complete and function also. The only thing needed is a GOOD washing to get all the greasy handprints off everything. WIth the weather taking a turn for the WARM this week(hitting 50 all week) I think the ground might settle a bit and allow the door to open? The gravel is heaved and it has the door wedged up against the track nice and tight.
  11. I don't think I could slide the axles on my car trailer no matter how much power I applied to them. I always pull test them in the driveway before leaving. I get the truck rolling and pull on the application arm. The truck will stop. Not instanteous like air brakes, but I make sure they work. I would not like having no trailer brakes. With minimum weight on the fifthwheel, my rear axle will lock up quickly and send me sliding into a jacknife. No thanks.
  12. Happy Birthday. Don't eat too many sweets.......................
  13. Ya, if I use IE at home, I can't do anything here, even sign in. Nadda, nothin. Here, try this instead: buwhahahahahahaha.............
  14. Ya, back when Stan first got the truck done, he had it at Lakeside Sand/Gravel get together. He told me to rev'r up and make some smoke and noise while he taped it. I told him I wanted to drive it. He said, sure, but why not wait til you can get it out on the big road. Well, about 10 yrs later..........I'm still waiting LOL!! When the chance came to drive it across the lot........I was ON IT.
  15. (hmm, guessing you need to put a Detriot in that computer so it can keep up?))
  16. This is Tom Sampson. He's local to me. Well, shoot, that is my truck next to his. Must be from Lakeside Sand and Gravel show every spring. Like the pictures I put above.
  17. That would be Stan Leman. He has Gravy train, an R6xx, 2 superliners(one I just posted a video of) and the CH E9. All very, very nice trucks. Stan has not been real active in our chapter the last year or so(I haven't either for that matter). Here is the V8 Super: His blue daily driver is sticking out the left side of the picture. The CH:
  18. Now that you mention Clint, I can see the resemblence, especially the hair like Jim says. I like Yardo's comment better
  19. This was taken a few years back, after the Piston Power show at the Cleveland IX Center. This is Stan Leman's Superliner that I posted years back. It was Sunday night and I quickly volunteered to handle driving it out and parking it with his B model. Sure wished I could have taken it out for a much longer "drive". Just as I got to the door, I grabbed my cellphone and held it to my chest. I was just trying to cut through the parking lot, but it was so jumbled up with cars it wasn't working out too well. Evidence.........valuable evidence, that's gunno convict a maniac...........
  20. Nice trucks, nice shop!!!!
  21. Those three don't look right, at least for what is on my B.
  22. Improvise............. Just something I threw together to get the gearset changed in my B. Engine crane and a receiver hitch with a couple straps= instant mobile crane.
  23. Mine let got at the top of second gear, 6000 rpm. Bang. Actually never made a mess on the track, all the pieces had stayed attached enough. Did get a few pieces handed to me by spectators though.
  24. I would assume rotation was all the same, no matter. Unless it would be mounted behind the flywheel, it should always turn the same way on any motor.
  25. I suppose it had a very large water tank, thus the tandems? Meant for going out far in the woods where water might not be available at the time? Thanks Paul for digging into this. Great to see the history of such a unique piece of equipment. I've always wondered the reason for no roof. I suppose that is a valid point on accessing the situation as you drive up. I bet any rain/snow made it difficult no matter what!
