  1. I sent mine here: http://masontrucksales.com/ They rebuilt it in a day and shipped it back. $500 and some change. I needed a new fiber drive wheel too. Been 15 yrs and still going strong. Mine used to pump oil into the system like a waterfall. Had to drain the tanks daily. Looked like a mud milkshake. Hmmm, I just tried to surf their website but it is like its not there. Only the home page.
  2. Yup, that is 220's truck. Same name as posted on Ebay.
  3. What kind of start button? Air control or electric? Might be the valve that is draining air off the system. I have my system on and working. When I was testing the tank, I only had the big valve on it and it held for a week with only a dropping a couple pounds. Now with the system installed, it seems to loose more, but not horrible. Almost 20# in a week. I removed the pressure relief valve to see if that helps. It did. My assumption is that being so close to "pop off" that it actually is loosing ability to hold the pressure fully. I have a relief on the wet tank so this was just a secondary(tank had one on it when I got it). It is still down a few pounds, but not 20#. I have a brand new air button on the dash, so likely it is not he reason for my losing pressure. Even with new check valves, I bet they are the reason for my small loss.
  4. I use Power Service in mine every few fill ups. One bottle does 80 gallons, so I split it between the two tanks. With the old 673 I would swear it gives it a few extra HP. It would pull the hill on 224 in one higher gear after putting it in the tank. Coincidence? Who knows. No real input on the 237 as it runs circles around how it used to pull anyway.
  5. Ya, it is amazing he went this far without noticing a car hanging off the left side of his trailer, taking up the second lane. Not like it was trailing behind him and not clear in his mirror.
  6. I spoke to Stengel Bros and they weren't much help over the phone. I called Van Horn Truck parts and they seem to be able to get me a different arrangement that looks like a ball/socket design instead of solid rubber bushing. They saw my concern about trying to get it installed once I weld it and the rubber not giving me enough play. I will be getting a call Monday about returning my parts and ordering the other version.
  7. I went through some time getting new bags for mine back when I put it under the truck. Local place had to call Firestone and cross them to something newer. I put new pivot bushings and cross bar bushings in it without too much fuss. The address from the website comes up as Whitehall, PA. South of Pitts.
  8. I think the 390 came out in 61?
  9. Wasn't there a B for sale with a moving body on it? Seems it was burgundy in color. Not sure if I saw it posted here, WOT or where? If I recall, wasn't there an F model with trailer used as a billboard on Rt 36, west of 77? Over by Mason Truck parts.
  10. Guess I shoulda asked about this 6 months ago when I had all this time to have it apart. I wasn't thinking it was going to be that tough. I have a road trip next weekend so I have to put what I have back together. Thanks, I'll call them and see if they have what I need. I see they are just south of Pittsburgh. I'm heading to Beaver Springs, PA so they aren't really on my way(I'm taking 80 across).
  11. Ya, pretty sure they had tags on them. I have the part number from the original part, but it doesn't google up to anything. sb3379d and e8hs4962aaa Ummm, ARD sum sum sumthin or uther.............mmmm. I'll have to look tonight. I think it is ARD 125? Here is link to what I have at home. http://www.huskidrive.com/files/downloads/neway_ard_manual.pdf
  12. Ok, my panhard bar was getting loose. Rust is coming out of the sockets. I got on my computer and looked at the booklet I saved from when I put it under the truck. I've used it to replace pivot bushings so I know it must be good information. I looked up the panhard bar parts and they offer two versions(1 1/8" thread and 1/1 4" thread). Mine is 1 1/4", so I ordered it and the other end(same for both rods). You have to cut the rod to length and weld the other end on. I got the truck apart last night and determined that something is amiss. The new ends are not ball sockets and I can't seem to rotate them and they don't line up well(I haven't cut and welded them yet). The bolt on end has 5/8" holes and mine is 3/4". I can open those up, but don't know why they are smaller? They only offer just the one choice. I slipped the tapered end into the housing and smacked it with a BFH and it didn't budge. Just looking at it, doesn't appear to be a ball socket? It needs to be or I won't be able to line it up and install it. Anyone ever had to deal with is? I'll put my old one back in for now(with a shot of grease) but I want to replace it.
  13. Yes, raise the body, that will give you easy access to see what is up there. Maybe a picture? It should just be an insert threaded into the transmission, maybe an inch tall, threads for the speedo cable, wrench flats to be able to unscrew it.
  14. Looks like FUN!!! Scream'n jimmy in a F250? Can't be all too bad, I only see a couple empty beer cans...................
  15. Yes, I've used a phone app for speedo before. I have found that the electronic speedo I have seems to skew out of calibration the faster you go(it reads faster then you are going). Just a few MPH, so I don't worry about it. Seems real accurate in town, around 30-40 mph. 65-70 mph it reads faster then you are going. Hmm, I wonder if it is a speed reducer/adapter? I've seen those before and I originally was going to use one til my gear finally gave up.
  16. It has a wide ratio toploader in it, 3.89 gears. Never put good tires on it, so it spins............a lot!! With only 5# of boost it is not a real barnstormer, but it does go 111 mph in the 1/4 mile. ET was hideous at 14.0. The MPH shows it should go 12.0 with some traction. But, it is a time bomb with 1968 cast pistons so I don't abuse it very often. Can't afford to build it better, so it has to survive the way it is. I just drive it and enjoy it. 1960? Likely a 352? Don't think the 390 was around yet for couple years.
  17. Ya, it was someone's "grandma" car. Friend bought it and drove it daily. Nice car, white, blue interior. Just a 2bbl 390. Seemed to have a knock in it, couldn't figure it out. He wanted something else put in. I had the 360 from my '69 F100 laying on the floor so I sold it and installed it. He gave me the 390. It had 50K miles and I pulled it apart and found nothing wrong. Still don't know what the problem was. I freshened it up, double keyed the front of the crank, stuck a blower on it and bolted it in the car. Presto-chango I had a hot rod.
  18. Yes, I did all the machine work(I work at machine shop). I made the reluctor wheel to mimic the gear width and diameter. The tooth count was figured by Rob after he did some testing. The tailhousing I machined for the sensor. Yes, the pickup needs to be perpendicular to the reluctor wheel. I'm sure there is some kind of specification, but I made it 90*.
  19. After I started putting some miles on my truck it ate up the pencil gear. Next one lasted even shorter. Pulling the tailhousing isn't a big deal(once you've done it a few times LOL). My drive gear had some chips in it and likely why it ate up the pencil gear. I just had it apart again this winter as the seal started to drip on the yoke. Once you get the hang of getting the cotter pin out of the 2 1/4" castle nut on in the yoke, then get the nut off, it is downhill from there. Blasted and painted again:
  20. I'm just a BIG car guy. The '64 just grew on me after I bought the wagon in 1992 from the original owners sister. The black car has a 390 in it. Actually came from a '68 Galaxie, 2dr. Motor is still standard bore, all original cast pistons!! I put a mild cam in it that I had laying around. It was a real budget bomber project.
  21. Who puts a boat anchor 429 in a Galaxie?? Seems an FE does a really nice job. I'm a bit fond of the Galaxies, I have two myself.
  22. Sounds like the pencil gear in the trans bushing is lobbed out(not square anymore). I had a couple of those gears, but they got stripped out about 10 yrs ago. I kept trying to keep mine working, but I worked with Rob and I put an electronic speedo in it. Today you can get GPS stuff, but back then I machined the parts and Rob did the electrical testing. It has worked flawless for years. That bushing unscrews from the transmission, like mentioned, it holds the gear inside the transmission that rides on the gear on the output shaft.
  23. They were told to get the passenger off the plane. Simple as that. A person, somewhere in charge, told them to do this. Being police, you do what they ask or you get treated like a felon. Resisting arrest. The good doctor told them what he was expecting and he got it. Simple as that. Well, sorry to say, like Rowdy's comment earlier, you both would have been in the same predicament. Beaten and dragged off. No ego in the world is stronger then a handful of big guys and handcuffs. Sorry, this is my opinion on the matter. I am not condoning what happened, but just understand why. Should something be done? Abso-damn-lutely. They have rules written to help THEM, not us.
  24. The video clip I watched had the good Doctor spouting off about "you are going to have to take me to jail", and something along the lines of beat me to take me. Ya, he was not a willing passenger to follow the orders of the police. The police were doing THEIR job. He was resisting, he got what he was asking for. In all my years, I've never seen ONE person that ever walked away from a situation like this. It always ends up bad no matter how big of an attitude you have. Three other passengers all got up and walked off without incident. Barring his doctor credentials, he could have dealt with the situation better. The old "he's a doctor, he has patients to see" is crap. Just watch the news and see how many flights get cancelled due to weather or what not. He is not the first person in the world that would have had to change his plans. Put your big boy pants on and deal with it like an adult.
  25. I bet MANY more people read all the fine print before buying a plane ticket? It's a legal contract, so if you don't like it, ride the bus.
