  1. With the glare off the tank you wont notice the rusty doors! I also put new chrome elbows on the stacks. Them crusty bare metal ones werent going to cut it anymore.
  2. Well I am working hard. One tank about ready for mounting. Once there I will polish the step area. Too hard to hold tank steady with foot to polish with this big grinder. The brackets are powder coated.
  3. AWESOME news!!!!!!
  4. Like a P51 mustang............ (dammit it won't post the pic) or "Mater"?
  5. Aye Mate....I see your point. (I didn't realize you were from down under. The air starter wasn't a big enough clue for me )
  6. Top post: Mike Harbison Box154 Morning Sun, IA 52640
  7. He got mine. Bump.
  8. You need to host your pictures on a site and link them here. If you just post them directly from your computer, you will fill your memory available and can't post anymore until you delete others.
  9. I'm thinking the crossmember across the rear spring perches really hinders getting up into that top bolt. If the motor is rolled over, it might make it a bit more accessible.
  10. Back when nailhead buicks were still plentiful. Funny story. Machine shop I use did a nailhead a few years ago. They guy put it in a '87 Buick Grand National!! Don't really think it was a GNX, but just a clone. He wanted to be different.
  11. Ya, that bolt goes along with the air compressor bolts. Makes you wonder what kind of magical tool they used at the factory? 15 yrs ago when I put a 12v starter in mine, I know it was a PITA and you had to keep swapping the wrench around to get 1/16 of a turn at a time. Not sure if maybe a crows foot wrench would get in there better or not? I'm going to be swapping mine over to air starter in a few weeks so I'll be cussing right along with you. I installed the starter before putting the motor in last winter so I had plenty of access. Unlike when it is in the truck.
  12. Did some googling and found this: https://www.anythingtruck.com/product/060-K112234.html But it is the threaded the wrong way, unless you use a nipple on the tank and change the line fitting to female.
  13. I have a matching air start tank(alum round). I'll be a polishing fool come this weekend. I'll have all the brackets back from powder coating the first of the week to start mounting things. I anxious as hell to see what it looks like! Plus to hear that ol air start screaming!!!
  14. I had them duplicate a stock B model tank. Only change was the step is about 2" narrower in width to allow for 2" straps instead of the stock 1 1/2" wide straps. They don't offer 1 1/2" straps and they would likely overhang the stock step area with a 2" strap. Once I get them home I will get better pictures.
  15. Lookie what showed up at work! Cant wait to polish them up and get them installed. New SS straps too. No more crusty steel tanks. No more patching rust holes.
  16. Could be Sealco? That is what my starter tank had and was similar 90* set up. Could not find one online looking at their website(they dont list anything 90* anymore). Going to replace with something else.
  17. I have a similar handle set up, but it does not have anything attached in the middle like that. Wonder if it some for some kind of lock to keep it from being started?
  18. I was at Garlits back in about 1990? Got a few pics from inside.
  19. The Chinese buy up everything, copy it and then remake it as cheap as possible to flood the market. Unfortunately Summit sells this stuff. A racing buddy lost his car to a garage fire. He went to summit with a LARGE insurance check to replace parts. He had two large carts full rolled out to him. He looked it over, returned it all due to nothing make in American.
  20. Oh I'm sure I can get pictures a bit easier then that if it came down to it. I just never asked for any. I just got a text from a buddy asking for assistance.
  21. I run Quaker, but not on regular basis. I hate that hill personally. The Willys is not mine. I'm building it for a fellow. A friend started the project 5 yrs ago doing most of the basic fab work. I got pulled in to do build the wiring harness and it just went from there. I hope to have it completed this summer(so does the owner).
  22. My work is very flexible and I can take time off without too much fuss(as long as I don't have anything to do LMAO----sarcasm at its finest). Keep in touch.
  23. I heard all the fuss about this, but did not remember hearing about the reason for it. I'll put a "Thank you" out there for helping out!
  24. Fontana? That had me cornfuzed. It's on Fortuna LOL!! I know where that is exactly. Right behind Camper World where I bought my trailer 20 yrs ago. It's off Arlington Rd exit(120 mm) on Rt 77. Pretty easy to get in / out of. About 15 minute from my house, and it's half way between my house and work. I used to cut across that way. Let me know your schedule and we can hook up. There is suppose to be another big dyno house in Akron, off Kelly drive. The Willys I'm working on was just up there a couple weeks ago. They have a big number chassis dyno also. I would have to ask the name. Here is a quick clip of the Willys after unloading it from the trip to the dyno: BillyT. I work at a machine shop in Barberton( Bar-beer-ton for others. Lots of Bars, lots of Beer, and the women all weigh a TON) for 31 yrs now. I only play truck driver on the weekends when I'm going to the races. Yes, they have been cutting back on the scale houses. The one on East bound 224(by Seville) is closed, West is still open. South 77(by Boliver) is open, north is closed(or it is the other way around?). North 71, above Columbus is closed(by rt 36). Pretty sure the border houses are still open, just the internal ones are not getting rebuilt. I'm pretty sure they aren't waking guys up at rest stops and truck stops, but they do catch them on the road. I know the rest area out on eastbound rt 30 by Upper Sandusky is a hot spot. See lots of red tags on truck sitting in there when I go buy. I'm guessing they catch them on the road, pull them into the stop and do a check. That way they are not on the highway and have a chance to get run over.
  25. Paul, I don't have plans on attending the NMRA event. I used to go to the Labor Day event back when it was the Ford club(PFCA).. It closed down and NMRA took it over. It went down hill and I quit going a few years ago. National Trails is right at 2 hours from me. I'm in Canton, Ohio. Work in Barberton. Where in Akron is George's place? Only place online I see is Dayton.
