As well as the trucks here are many pieces of construction operating also. His family still runs an equipment repair business out of the big shop. A friend, Dave, was running the cable shovel, his wife was on a dozer and I ran his B61sx dump hauling dirt. Childhood fun, like playing with big tonka trucks in a sandbox!! A walk through the junk yard is cool. I keep trying to get back there but I usually have a race this weekend. I don't this year, but the B is out of commission. Chatted with yourself, @Firemack and the Mack brothers. Saw @farmer52’s “Roll Hauler” and @yarnall’s F model. Sam from Scrappy Industries @Superliner92 was there with his Ford. I’m sure there were others that I don’t know or recognize their trucks. A beautiful day and great conversations with old and new friends. I was having too much fun chatting this year and didn’t spend much time wandering the yard so no new photos of the construction fleet. They host an event the first Saturday in May that they call “Digging Days” - or something along those lines. They typically have the big Northwest shovel and one of the Bucyrus draglines running along with a Euclid rock truck and a few dozers. It had a rebuilt quad box that was super tight and it was push to try and get something done with my box. The Northwest shovel was a bit brighter in color back then. Dave's B was an absolutely spotless truck. Near museum quality even if he did play in the dirt with it. He said people would give him grief about using it but he said "Not like I'm throwing rocks at it. A simple bath and it is clean again". Sure could have used power steering though! Jacking that thing around for a few hours had my arms like rubber 😆. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
