  1. Neat read, still lots and lots of stuff in the oilfield over here that's powered by ol' jimmys. In fact there are two diesel shops that specialize in old two strokes since they are still common around here.
  2. That's an impressive plane, saw a video on it a few years ago. Shouldn't that plane be headed to the fire north of me in Canada? Sure's been smokey 'round here last few days with the wind blowin out of the north.
  3. Here's an underground nuclear missile silo. They are dotted all over eastern side of Montana. Nothing for miles The rims north of billings Went home a different way up through Laurel to visit a friend, then up thru Harlowton, Judith Gap, Stanford then home. Hit a rainstorm while heading toward the Crazy Mountains. People enjoying the Yellowstone River Harlowton in the forground and wind farm at Judith Gap in the back ground The back side of Square butte Heading down the bottom toward Geraldine Sand stone near Geraldine
  4. This weekend my wife had to go to billings to photograph a wedding. She said I didn't have to go but I knew better. Thought I'd share some more pics. The Missouri River at Fort Benton. Then I saw a fire started presumably by haying operation Square Butte off in the distance. Square butte up close Old Great Northern Railway passenger car on abandon tracks I will add more pics of the trip later, enjoy!
  5. In Montana there is an exemption for farmers/ranchers to be able to operate their own class A trucks with out a cdl. Hell they can legally hire high school kids 16 and up to drive truck during seeding and harvest. Couple of wrecks every year but hey they didn't have to hire a fella with a cdl.
  6. Oooooh Vinny! You should buy it and park the side by side (lopside facing inwards) so they can hold each other up.
  7. I grew up in that area. Totally beautiful and breath taking. Too many people moved there for my taste plus I can't afford the land prices there.
  8. I keep wondering when everyday joe's (non commercial) are going to have to take extra driving courses/training to get a certificate and a med card to be able to legally pull 14.5 tons with shitty electric trailer brakes!? Drives me nuts here in Montana that any farmer or person who works for a farmer can legally drive class A trucks without a cdl. I think it's a crock that they get away with it and it takes jobs away from actual commercial drivers and hurts the cdl carrying trucker by diluting his or her pay because only some people have be able to pass all the tests, pee quizzes and keep a med card. If your hauling heavy you should be licensed accordingly. Just my 2 cents.
  9. Was on my way to get some gas for the boat and go fishing when I spied this nice Mack. Don't hardly ever see Macks out here so grabbed my wife's camera and snagged a few pics.
  10. What was the purpose of that set up? Can't wrap my mind around why you would want/need a nose like that.
  11. Some great pics there. Doesn't seem like I've seen many old heavy haulers using jeeps. Seems like they hauled whatever they could fit or pull on five axles. Is that dozer one of those that has the winch on the side that is used as a crane?
  12. Yep I hear ya. We pick a direction once a month and drive to one of the "big" towns and get our monthly staples. I try to make sure I'm not around that day.
  13. I know it, I read other dogs thread on his travels and couldn't imagine driving in all that traffic. On the other hand im hour(s) away from lots of conveniences. Until recently the closest Wally World was 96 miles away one way. Now there is one 60 miles away one way, but I wouldn't trade the peace and seclusion for nothing.
  14. cross promotion, that's what ya call that billboard.
  15. A few pics from my travels the last 2 days. Another unit train of crude from ND headed to the west coast so it can be shipped over seas, refined then sold back to us 😕 A fire truck and mixer truck for sale Lots of equipment. More comes in to that yard but nuthin' ever leaves Cool old biplane crop duster Old service rig The rim
  16. Nice looking power wagons. The one with the gun pole has a pto winch I presume? Nice looking B by the way. Looks like fun.
  17. I wish that brochure had better pics of the Dubl-duti "stand and drive" delivery driving position. Cool read thanks for posting.
  18. Looks like yiu had abusy/interesting couple a weeks. That's a helluva crane
  19. Take an old tire still mounted on a wheel, lay it on its side and cut inch and a half holes in the side wall with a hole saw then fill it with 3way cob mix. Keeps the coons away from farms and decent hunting for my dogs during the warm months. Kind of a win win I think.
