So fkin pissed off....ethanol gasoline strikes again
HeavyGunner replied to 1958 F.W.D.'s topic in Odds and Ends
We can still find some gas stations that advertise NO ETHANOL IN OUR PREMIUM, I try to always fill my gas jugs for small engines there. Either way I add a lot of additives that way I'm covered if some gas does have some ethanol. I wouldn't leave any gas in my genset if it were me, simply because if it goes bad now you have to pull the tank and clean it. Maybe keep your gas for your gensets in jugs and every time you need to fill the gas jug for the mower or snowblower take one of the gas jugs set aside for the genset and use it for your mowers and fill a fresh one for the genset. That way you could always be rotating your gas and hopefully with additives keep it fresh in case you need it. -

I put either sea foam or stabil in every gas jug I fill. That way no matter what every thing I have has fuel treatment in it and I've not had a gumming problem or parts failure in years. I also try and run the machine out of fuel at the end of the season it's used in (like trimmers and ice augers) drain the bowl then pour in a little bit of sea foam into the gas tank and start it and run it until it dies then drain the bowl again. -
Think it's you. I'm having no problems.

My email to Kim Davis (that KY county clerk in the news)

Well dirty milkman pointed out that many gay couples adopt unwanted children so that's a benefit. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Sounds like that is another benefit whether you and I agree or endorse gay marraige. Like I said earlier it's a free world but when people start trying to control what others are allowed to do, think, practice it's a problem. If two people want to go get married to pursue THIER American Dream what's wrong with that? It's not affecting you or I other than someone doing something we may like. Just remember you get the right to be religious and pursue things you happy so why not let others? If you think they're going to hell thats your opinion and their choice. -
Welcome mike, finally another Montanan!

I'm not really religious or atheist, yes I'm a fence rider but NEITHER side can conclusively prove they are right. I think gays should be able to marry whether that's aligned with my views or not. The only thing I would like to see is for them to call it anything else but marriage just because I don't like how our society keeps redefining words. Traditionally marriage is between a man and woman in my eyes and not from a religous stand point on my end so make a new word up for same sex marriage is all I ask. As far as people quoting the bible and why people are going to hell basically don't they remember reading that (I'm paraphrasing here) that a sin is a sin in gods eyes meaning all sins are equal? IF you go by that it means lots of people are going to hell for lots of different things but homosexuality is the latest thing to protest. Don't we see churches and groups working in prisons? Not protesting out in front of them because of all the sinners in there? Just realize when you protest someone's personal life that no way effects you, you're personal life choices could be on the chopping block next. As for the minority's groups that cry bigot, racist etc for some one disagreeing with them I have a saying for that, Those who preach tolerance have the least of it for someone with an opposing view. -
I thought legally (at least at the state level not federally) selling dope was supposed to fix all Washington and colorados budget deficiencies?

THIS CLOSE to going to jail last night...

Gotta love aholes in cars. Seeing crap like that on a daily basis drives me insane when I think about all of the hoops I have to jump through and laws I follow to have a cdl. Not to mention if I ever got pulled over in my personal vehicle driving like the ahole in your video I would likely lose my job because that would be a reckless ticket and my csa points would be to high for my employers. I'm out here in BFE and maybe pass 100 cars a day on y 400 mile run and a fair chunk of them pass me on double lines, blind corners or in turn lanes. I couldn't imagine driving in any kind of populated area anymore. I just don't have the patience I guess. -
I couldn't begin to guess other makes average mileage but our fleet of 15 trucks with mostly DD15's averages around 4.3mpg (I look at the quarterly fuel avg per truck that gets posted at work). Now most of the trucks can gross around 112k-115k and the 2 A-trains are 133k. Our driving is compromised of roughly 50/50 paved and graveled and we run over mostly rolling hills but have pretty extreme terrain once we leave the pavement and a lot of times requires the use of our 4 way lockers to claw our way out. Most guys get 3-4 loads a day and you get 45min-1hr Pto time per load. The trains get 2 loads a day and get 1.25hrs-1.75hrs Pto time per load. Now once the trains are loaded we have a steady hill climb over a 90 mile stretch that gains 1000ft in elevation. It doesn't sound like much BUT with prevailing winds out of the west (which is a head wind) and a 10 speed can make that truck earn every mile on that pull. That being said I average closer to 4.5mpg. My old truck set up the same except for a 550 c15 averaged around 5, and I think that may simply have been because it had a lot more low end grunt and did require 9th gear all the time like the Detroit does. I'm sure it pisses people off but in my opinion if I had to buy a truck it sure as hell wouldn't be a new one. I don't know how an O/O could/can afford the downtime EVEN with warranty. Just my 0.02.

It's good to see something being built in the U.S. but we will see how long it takes the union to make it no longer cost effective to build here like most other vehicles. In the first article posted it said part of the negotiations with the union was to see if the ranger was a good fit for them?! Seriously?! Either you want work or you don't. In the real world since ford owns the plant, the tools and the product that you're building you should build whatever the hell they tell you to if you want to work there. Not negotiate whether or not it's a good fit.

When are you going to start putting that logo on dry vans?

Clinton disqualified from becoming President
HeavyGunner replied to kscarbel2's topic in Odds and Ends
I would like to say no, she doesn't have a chance but you are forgetting the biased left media that continually covers up any scandals for the democrats and absolves them from any wrong doing. Also remember there is a pile of voters who get all their info from TV and believe it. There is also a huge chunk of our population that believes they deserve entitlement and are on the dole and Hilary tells them she's going to take us "rich" guys money to give to them. They also believe that any business is bad because they make money and Hilary backs that. I truly hope she doesn't make it into office but I certainly wouldn't underestimate the Clinton machine. I hope we get some independent like Trump (I know he's running on the republican card so far but they don't like him) who may not necessarily make all the right decision but he can show voter he's got a pair and is not afraid to make his own decisions whether others like it or not. -
Better call Maggie at Antique Tractors R Us, she'll set you up with all the parts you need.

Not to get off subject but I have a 1948 Ferguson. Been in my family since the 60's. Great little machine.

Unfortunately only about 50% of us do, he was elected twice! I have a buddy that's quite a it older than I that I met at work years ago. Nicest guy, Vietnam vet, avid outdoorsman loves hunting, fishing, hiking etc and a hell of a hard worker to boot. It always amazes me on how no matter what Obummer is right, democrats are right even though they stand for everything he is against like gun control, tree huggers, higher taxes, PETA, economic redistribution etc etc.. We visit candidly once in awhile about politics and usually through facts not feelings I can get him to see things for what they are but only momentarily. We were debating about Obummer care once and my thoughts were from the beginning NOTHINGS FOR FREE (see also my quotes at end of my posts) and that America didn't guarantee health care. In my opinion that's part of bettering yourself by getting an education and or working up in the job field until you get a job with bennies. My friend argued those points with me a little and at the end of our conversation I said "...what do you know that the government has run well? Name one thing that the government does well besides wastefully spend tax money they didn't earn and give themselves raises and free lifetime healthcare. Now you want those dingalings running our healthcare?!"He couldn't think of one thing and said " ya gotta point there" -

Like everything else Obummer has done what HE wanted to or turned a blind eye to. Benghazi, IRS targeting, border jumpers, Islamic terrorists, Iran deal, all the lies that came with Obummer care, deliberately causing racial tension and division and the list could literally fill a page. Wasn't this SUPPOSED to be the most transparent party ever -
Heat doesn't help conduct electricity, the colder the better as far as electrical current flow goes. Engine warms up, in turn heats a weak coil up and it doesn't work well enough to keep your tractor running.

Awesome pics Paul, thanks for sharing. Thanks for the info on the suspension set up on gassers, I'd always wondered about them.
-
The 50's through the 70's were definitely the golden years of hot rods, muscle cars and drag racing in my opinion. Definitely think the gasser look is cool just wondered if it had a function other than looking cool. I've got a friend who built a 57 bel air with his dad when he was in grade school. He said the day they finished the car his dad packed the truck of the car with tools and spare parts and they went on a three week tour across the U.S.. He had lots of cool memories from that trip including changing a transmission out in a parking lot and about how much fun he had with his dad in that loud big block powered Chevy.
-
What is the reasoning behind gassers sitting up so high in the front? Seems to be opposite of everything you'd want in a race car like low center of gravity and aero dynamics.

She probably did screw him up for life OD. When is he EVER going to get an NFL CHEERLEADER again??! He's got nothing, got no where to go but down now.
