  1. Yeah I’d rather have the cold than that. You can always put more clothes on but there’s only so many i fella can take off
  2. It felt so nice to have some warm weather. It's been a really cold winter here. Lots of days the temp hasn't been above zero. Monday our high was -12.
  3. I still haven't for got about this thread but with no shop and the frigid subzero temps and blizzards I haven't even wanted to work on the truck plus with all the problems I just mentioned I haven't had a chance to leave town so I can buy some parts.
  4. Well yesterday I saw a 68 degree swing in temperature compared to the day before. -33 on Monday and +35 yesterday. Now if we can just stay frozen and hopefully the high winds will stay down the rest of the week I'll have it made on easy street.
  5. Glad you figured out what your light was. After reading some of the comments about the truck deciding when to shift and and doing goofy things it confirms that (IMO) autos in a class 8 are too quirky for me to feel safe. I drove one with the clutch used when starting or stopping and I absolutely hated it. Seems it would always shift when I didn’t want it to and again in my opinion would have been safer if it would have done what I wanted instead of what it thought it should do.
  6. That thing looks awesome. Good looking guard cat watching over the truck.
  7. You mean you don’t have the douche bag “trucker” in your truck stops that have to walk around with a head set on jabbering like an a$$h@le and hold everything up because of his very self importance? If you don’t I envy you.
  8. I think cell phones are great but I also find it sad how many young people can't function without them. They can't talk to another person face to face, they can't pay attention to anyone else in the room because of the phone. Once you learn how to use it you will enjoy it Dave. I love reading bmt in little 10 minute tidbits throughout the day when I have a little free time to kill.
  9. its been a nasty bugger over here lately. Heavy snows with high winds been making things miserable. A friend told me he heard in the news today that we've set a record over here with 55" of snow. Dad says there's an easy 4' of snow on the level at his place right now. I shoveled 2' of snow off of my 5th wheel over there around January 20th. Did you see that r model dump truck on Craig's list down in Plains?
  10. I’m not claiming to have all of the answers or even trying to claim that we have zero impact on the earth but this alarmist bs is just a way to make money. As humans we’ve only been takin accurate weather reports for 150 or so years. In that short time (before cars and sky scrapers) the weather was cyclical. 30’s we had the dust bowl, ‘49 was the great blizzard in Wyoming, some time in the 1880’s I think it was we had a blizzard and cold snap that killed nearly every cow in Montana. Now we have any kind of weather event and every politician tries to capitalize on that to gain votes, lobbyist etc which in the end is all $$$$$$$. Montana used to be a tropical jungle according to fossils and now it’s one of the colder places to live. In my opinion the earths weather system is cyclical and we can prove this by all of the ice ages that we’ve had. In order for multiple ice ages the earth had to cool off and warm up multiple times and that was all before people, cars and so on.
  11. I'm feeling not so smart so I'll ask why would an automatic need hill start assist? Isn't that what your left foot on the brake would be as you started to lean on the go pedal you lift you left foot off?
  12. I love animals but I'm with TJC and Dave on this one. Until you've lived near peacocks you have no idea how loud and obnoxious they are.
  13. Would an automatic transmission equipped truck need that? I've heard of those in passenger vehicles with manual transmissions. Not saying you're wrong, that question just popped into my head when I was reading your answer.
  14. In another thread mackpro or Macktechnician commented on the twin y suspension saying there was a recall and upgrade. I think he said under heavy emergency braking the y arms were twisting or bending because they’re too light.
  15. I’m with you. Global warming alarmist bs is just a way for politicians to line their pockets and play to hearts of all the tree huggers. Remember Gore (with his private jet and mansions) told us no polar ice caps by 2015 and New York and California would be under water. But let’s see he sold a pile of books on his bs and got paid handsomely to speak about this “crisis”.
  16. Believe it or not but that little willys 4 banger started up and is out in the driveway chugging away trying to get warmed up. Amazed me.
  17. We've been getting blizzard after blizzard here on the prairies of central Montana and as the title eludes the weatherman never seems to quite nail it. For the prairies we have a pile of snow, I'd say an easy two feet on the level. Now mind you the winds have been blowing 20-30mph during these blizzards so we have hellacious drifts. Last night the forecast was -20 just now when I checked -31, as long as my willys starts I'll go to work it just takes longer to let the plastic air lines warm up and quit leaking. I missed last Saturday, this Monday and Thursday due to blizzards and hopefully don't miss today. Hopefully one of these times the weatherman is wrong it'll be to my benefit.
  18. I agree with you on the dd15 not having the grunt to hold and keep pulling. I’m sure others in here are tired of my dislike of the dd15 but it’s a dog. The last cat we had here (truck specd the same as the others except for engine) would walk all over these Detroit’s and usually use less fuel. I’m usually somewhere between 3.8-4.4 depending on winter fuel or not.
  19. What new? Mexifornia only follows the laws they want to and always want to tell everyone else how to live.
  20. Fun in number right Dave? I've got 3 German Shepherds and a walker. Most times it's great somedays I wonder what we were thinking 😄
  21. There is a tool for assessing the quality of def. The quality of the def will throw codes. I’ve seen our shop use the “scope” to assess the quality of the def.
  22. And clean the mouse nest made of straw off of the floor.
  23. You don’t “need” more than 300hp (though it would be nice) to pull the load you’re already proving that by doing it with a five speed. Why not get a 12, 13, 15 or 18 speed to put in it. With the closer ratio between gears you can keep your truck in the power band in every gear and not lug it to death trying to get up to speed. I pull an 11 axle A train with a 10 speed and I feel your pain. Even with 500 ponies it takes that Detroit miles to get up to speed in flattop rolling hills. Strong head wind or even worse strong cross wind forget about using 10th gear.
  24. No they’re both butt ugly
  25. I plowed snow at my house then ran to the other end of town where my truck is parked so I could clean out the approaches and parking lot in hopes that I won't have to chain up in the morning just to get in the highway. By the time I got back home I had to plow again. Way more entertaining than the Super Bowl imo. Never really been into watching sports and even less so with the millionaire babies disrespecting our country, flag and vets.
