  1. Wow thought the sign at Gilles Truck Stop up in New Liskerd, Ontario was impressive, they have an H model up on a big sign in the air in front of the restaurant. But that one tops it a B model with a float and a D6 Cat dozer on it. That's one heavy sign, very impressive.
  2. Well I drove past the Ch for a few weeks on my way to and from work and gave the guy a month to think over my offer. I guess I should have stopped in to see him 2 days sooner. I missed the boat on the whole truck, which doesn't bother me, because I really only wanted the back half only. Turns out the Mack dealer near by was in need of a cab for a wrecked CL dump truck in their shop so they beat me to it and offered the guy more than I was willing to pay for it whole. So I ended up buying the cut off from the Mack dealer on monday afternoon, and I had to pay a little more for it than I agreed on with the original owner plus the 13% sales tax on top of a higher price, and it didn't come with any tires on it or the fifth wheel like we orinally planned. Oh well just a few more parts to go pickin for, but I still ended up getting the cutoff for a pretty good price. I hope to get it home some night this week, so I can go to town and finish taking the RW apart and get the new framerails in it. Maybe this aftrenoon if it stops raining, we're doing this outside due to lack of space in our shop
  3. That 450 E9 will walk all over your hopped up 460. A couple of years ago when my Dad was on with MCQ he and a friend of his who works for them too got stuck hauling bundles out of a scrap yard in Sutton,Ont. Dad was running his Superliner with an E9 only set at 400 Hp and the other guy had a hopped up 460 they ran across Hwy#9 instead of going through Toronto, you've probably been on #9 before and I don't have to tell you that there is some pretty good pullin across that way, they were both pulling 6 axle steel dump trailers and the old 400 E9 left the 460 behind , and wasn't any harder on fuel either. I had a 450 E9 in my MH. I had it on with Sylvite in Burlington about 4 yrs ago. I had no problem holding a steady 50 mph on the 403 climbing the Hamilton mountain pulling a 6 axle slider tarp flat bed trailer with 2 coils of steel weighing around 90,000lbs together. you'll like the E9. they may seem sluggish running empty but when you start to work it youl see a difference. They have a different kind of power then your 6 cylinder.
  4. How did you make out with your air line hookup on the tranny, did it work?
  5. Yeah selectair kits are pretty cheap. I would also put an O-ring kit in the air shift cylinders on top of the transmission while I was at it too.
  6. Not having any luck posting the schematics for you but I followed your drawing and it matches my schematic in the book for the TRTXL1070 and the E on the shift knob is always the exhaust port on all 12 speeds I hope it works, I'm sorry I wasn't able to post the schematics I have for you .
  7. I've got the book right in front of me. Is it a TRTXL107 or a TRTXL1070 ? I'm not any good at sending this stuff on computer but I'll see if I can get my brother to scan it and post it for you in a little bit.
  8. D&H Mack in Dearborn, Mich. The owner there used to have a lifetime of Treasures that they took in on trade over the years parked back behind the shop, and would never part with very much of it. A year or so ago I was by there and noticed it was all gone I wonder where they all went, He was'nt known for selling anything from the back, hopefully it was'nt scraped, there was a lot of good stuff there the last time I walked through.
  9. The CH has the 1 pc stamped steel from the factory. You probably want the 2 pc cross members, thats what I'm putting back in mine, I dug a couple decent ones out of my archives a couple weeks ago and blasted and primed them. I stopped at 401 Mack in windsor this afternoon after work and priced out a new one they are over $260 new, so since I need one more myself I need to go pickin. I'll see if I can't find a few extra ones in the next week, if the 2pc is what you're after. As for the CH I'm going to track down the guy later this week and see if I can mack a deal with him. I 'm kinda leaning toward buying it whole. I want to build a singl axle dump truck later on, and was just talking to my dad about it this evening and I thougt that if I took the bunk off it abd put a back in the cab I could shorten the frame to take a 10to 12ft box.
  10. :SMOKIE-LF I would not be without a plastic liner in a dump trailer any more, they even work great in belly dump trailers.
  11. Yeah I did measure both trucks for that about a month ago, that's why I have been looking pretty serious at it. And the suspension and banjos are extremely clean so I'm figuring on buying it for those reasons. I would prefer a set of 4:11 rears with a nice 18spd double overdrive tranny, but of coarse when you are treasure hunting you don't very often come across exactly what you want, especially for a price that you would want to pay for just a hobby. So I figure the 3:90 rears and my 15spd or the 13 spd from the Ch should be a happy medium for it. The price is right.
  12. No I'm not really interesed in an old crane right at the moment. I have too many projects on the go now, I plan on getting the RW mainly together over the summer and early fall. Then I have a 1940 International H Tractor that all I have left to do on it is paint, we've just been putting off for 8 yrs now. If I had those done than I probably would be after another toy. We figure on getting something like that eventually. What are you wanting to get out of it, be a shame to scrap it if it's decent.
  13. The Superliner looks pretty good. Are you going to put it to work or play?
  14. No I don't think the rad and air to air will go in an RW, but I know CL and MH ones will they are the same as the RW. I'm mainly after the CH parts truck for the tail end of it. The truck does have a new rad and a bunch of new stuff in it. I'm sure some one will need something off it eventually, rather than see the rest of it go to scrap.
  15. My dad owned Bucyrus Erie 30B series II 1 1/4 yard Dragline that he did alot of work withfrom about 1977 till he sold it in 1988. He wishes he would have kept it. A good operator on one of those can move alot more dirt in a day and use alot less fuel than one of these high priced hydraulic machines. Before he had the 30B he had a Model 25 Northwest3/4 yard dragline and my gradpa had K12 Insley with a cable hoe on it. Dad told that the 30B was like a Cadilac compared to the Northwest. Dad was watching a guy taking down some cement silos in town last month with what looked to be a nice little 25B Bucyrus Erie swinging a wrecking ball. Dad got a little bit of laugh out of it watching the young guy running it cause he said it should have been able to kock them down in 1 day and it took most of the week. He also said the had done a little cobling on the undercarriage and it made it walk like a Northwest. He said a Bucyrus Erie usually walks nice and smooth and you shouldn't spill your coffee if you set it down in the machine while walking it.
  16. Easter week end I got started in a positive direction on my project. I sandblasted the nice set of framerails I got from K-All at Christmas time and gave them 2 nice coats of 2 part epoxy primer. I plan on sliding them in maybe on the may long weekend, weather permitting. What I was figuring that while I was doing the rail change it would be a good time to update the rear suspension, since the rails are drilled for camelback and I have a Neway so I have to redrill fo Neway anyway, I wanted to update to a more modern Hendrickson air ride from a newer Mack. I found a 2000 CH that has a blown motor closeby that the guy wants to get out of his way soon so he'll sell it whole or parts. It has the suspension I want with a set of 3:90 ratio 40,000lb Rockwells on 11r x22.5 tires on hub pilot rimswith a 13spd fuller ahead of them, not sure if it's a Dir or Od. I was planning on using the 15 spd Dir fuller I have on my E9 since it's not going to be a daily driver and we can't go over 65mph here in Ontario I figure the 15spd should work about right. If anyone has any advise, input or what ever I'd like to here from you since I was planning to get ahold of the guy about the CH maybe this week. I should just get the whole truck since it has alot of good parts on it anyway, that I'm sure someone will need someday would be a shame to see it go to scrap.

  18. What really pisses me off is when you go through all that aggrevation of tarping that so well and following there stupid safety rules for doing it, which most of the time I find to be more dangerous than if you just did it your way, then you get it to where it has to go spend all that time un tarping the load, only to have them unload it off your truck and put it outside in the mud. Been there , Done that.
  19. I got mine a week ago and wore it on the weekend a few people asked where I got it. It looks awesome.
  20. Damm lawyers all they do is screw things up for all the honest people that are left. Now all you have are idiots out there loking to have an accident so they can collect the cash. They need to pass a law making it a crime to be a lawyer.
  21. Now That's just plain communism! If BC is thinking of it when will the rest of the provinces? There must be money in it for someone in there side, or else they wouldn't be doing it. The government doesn't give a dam about environmental issues unless they can make a buck off of us. Just like emissions tests they are just a scam. How the heck do you put a dpf on a mechanical engine? It sounds like just a scam to get old stuff off the road. We're getting more and more like Europe all the time, over there a 3yr old truck is considered old. How do you pay for a new unit in 3yrs and just throw it away with trucking rates the way they are today? We need to have a rebellion against our communist government. Maybe send them to europe to stay if they think things are better the way it's done over there.
  22. :SMOKIE-LFT:It was actually quieter with 6" straight pipes than it was when I had it all in 5" wiith 2 resonator mufflers on it. I don't think backpressure is needed with them , I found it better without backpressue.
  23. I had 5 inch out of the turbo through the Y pipe then ran 6 inch staight pipes, no mufflers.
  24. He was probably wearing a Mack Trucks cap though. Congradulations Morgan and family.
  25. Nice look'in unit. It'll be interesting to see if it performs and lasts as well as their old Macks.
