  1. It's a good chance it is the Detroit powered one, but it's hard to tell. Looks about the same length as the chasiss My friend has down here, but it might be the 6 cylinder truck that he is still using, it had a 48" Mik Mak bunk on it when he bought it from Dietz. It is now a Daycab. I don't see a number on the hood I know the truck he still uses was #106 It could be his truck before the bunk was installed. The only one that would probably know it Dietz's son unless we could find someone that drove for him during that time period. I ran into a couple guys that drove for him yrs ago when we were still running our trucks because they recognized them mainly because of the paint job. That is a sharp paint scheme, our stripe on both of ours is the same design but the gold part is just a narrow stripe like the red stripe , so it is black in between instead of a wide gold stripe. The truck my friend is still using is the same paint as that one. I was thinking of changing colours on mine but seeing that picture may just change my mind, we'll see.I need to figure out how to post pics so we can see my pics on here I'll see this week if we aren't busy. Thanks for sharing this picture with us Shawn I'll be sure and show it to the old man and my friend. We might be able to get a picture of the last F model It's still painted those colours.
  2. Cool Idea. Great way of combining two things you love together. If you already know both industries you should be able to make it work, like you say start out small and try it. Remember nothing ventured nothing gained, good luck.

  4. I 've seen that Superliner a few times around the GTA but I know nothing about it. It's always going the opposite direction that I am. It must be from around Toronto area. That would be Bobo's turf, never seen it down here near Windsor. It sure is one sharp lookin ride.

If Trucking rates would go back up, fuel prices would go back to where they should be, the cost of the truck would come down to where it would be affordable to pay for, and if they would go back building a V8 engine again, I'd be the first one in line to buy a new one. But for now I think I'll just wish in one hand and S--T in the other and see which one gets full first.
  7. There are none on the road where I live. The Mack dealer in Windsor has had one out front since Christmas time. Not moving it too fast.

  9. Finally after the better part of a year I was able to get on the forum from the home PC. For some unknown reason I have not been able to get on the forum from my home PC, Every thing else on internet has worked just fine , just not BMT. So I have popped into the local library from time to time to go on BMT. It's good to be back on from home, It's alot handier. I hope it keeps working. My Superliner Rebuild project is coming along nice. Chasiss is all reassembled and totally replumbed in plastic, just awaiting paint. I test painted backsides of tank saddles and area on frame where they fasten. Frame paint is fire red. looks good on spots I tried last week I can't wait for a little warmer temps to paint the whole chasiss. I am un decided on what colour to paint the cab. It is Black with gold and red stipes wich looks good but needs alot of touching up due to clear coat peeling from sitting for last 6 yrs. I was thinking of a colour change on the cab. Maybe silver or a dark blue? While I'm waiting for warmer weather I am getting 15 spd fuller tranny ready, got a tower and stick for it last week since it is from my old MH COE if I'm not working the next couple day I'll put a new Input shaft in it this week. I got a set of aluminum air tanks a couple weeks ago and have them all polished an waiting to go on. It looks a little more like a truck again with every piece put back on it.

  13. Our Tractor Supply stores over here are full of chineese garbage too. Last week I went to the one where I live fore a few grade 8 bolts and they were redoing the fastener section, the guy told me what I was after was over in the clearance section and it was all at half off, so I stocked up on a bunch of bolts. A couple days later I went back to see what all the new stock consisted of, I wasn't impressed the grade 5 bolts they have less of ,still by the pound but not out in big boxes like they used to, grade 8 and stainless are all in drawers and all in little packs with 1 or 2 bolts in each and only a few in each drawer. At least before they had lots of everything. Seems to be the way of the world with everything you look at or go to do they can't leave anything good alone. I guess Bulls--t baffles brains.
  14. I would vee it out weld it an grind it off nice to hide it too. You don't want the DOT to find a crack.
  15. I'd have to agree with Bobo on this one. If you change rails or just weld it up and fish plate it you need to move that crossmember so it it in between your hangers. The way it is now is causing your frame to flex at your hangers causing it to crack. If you put the crossmember in between the hangers it will stiffen the frame at the hangers allowing it to flex in front and behind you axle, instead of at the hangers where your pressure point is on your framerail. You need a crossmember between suspension hangers wheather it's a lift or a drive axle so your framerails can flex where the need to, so move that crossmember no matter what this should prevent it from breaking again after you fix you crack.
  16. No Bobo I'm still sittin in the library. BMT is the only site I can't get on on the computer at home for some unknown reason. I 'm debating switching internet providers and going wireless. I'll try lowes for the clips i'm looking for we have a new Lowes store just down the street from 401 Mack any way. I don't have any pictures to show you right I never think to take any, I think I might get the camera out on the week end. And I still need to take a saturday morning tour down to K&R to get that bumper bracket, provided he still has it, It was back last summer when I talked to him about it.
  17. Lucas won't hurt it. I swear by it, and use it in all my stuff. I ran it in both my 866 and my E9 when I was running them daily. My dad also ran it in his E9, and a friend of mine with a couple 6 cyl. Mack powered Superliners, one is a 1980 with the original 2 valve 350, that runs daily, he also uses Lucas and swears by it. So don't be afraid of it in your old 2 valve it won't hurt anything.
  18. Was that from the Mack warehouse in Toronto, or Pai Bobo? I had the carpet all up in my Superliner a few weekends ago to change my fuel pedal and also so I could unbolt the treadle valve to change all the fittings on it. I replumbed the whole truck front to back got rid of all the steel braided air line and swaped it out for plastic. one more step closer towards finishing this project. I just need to win the dam lottery in the meantime. You would think those brass fittngs were gold ones when you're buying them. The bolts and screws all came out of the floor good and were able to be re used all but the 2 in the heel plate behind the fuel pedal, I had to drill the heads off to get it off and I need the 2 bolts and the 1 nut and clip to hold it in the floor. I wonder what the probability is I would be able to get them from the dealer in windsor? I might have to stop in London next weekend if I go down there to the Motorcycle show.
  19. I watched it last night. That's insane how fast Brad Paisley's guys pack all that stuff up and get it moved out, seems like a tight schedule to keep with no room for anything to go wrong. I'm glad they're doing it and not me. That Mack collector had quite a bunch of early Macks. Looks like most were restored too. Very nice.
  20. I think they sould bring back the Superliner too David. I agree with vision about the drivers today. I always give the lights a flash when someone passes me and flash the four ways if someone flashes me when I pass them. I find I flash the headlighs a lot more tha any one flashes in return. It makes me feel good when another driver does, but it's not often any more.
  21. The first truck I drove was when I was 12. It was a 1980 Freightliner cabover with a 3408 Cat. It was in a gravel pit the old man was hauling out of that summer he went into get loaded with sand for the next day after the guy that ran the loader went home, so dad took the few week old cat 980 loader down into the hole and had me drive the freightliner ahead of him. I didn't really know how to shift it so dad had me put it in 1st or 2nd gear, I didn't know he had parked it on the spike or hand brake so when I let the clutch out and started spinning the tires in the sand til dad jumped up and let it off for me. we went down into the pit about a half mile off the road and got to the pile and I drove ahead too far past where he wanted me. He pulled a set of ontario A trains at the time and he wanted me to back up a bit, do you think I could back it up , no way I kept jack knifing the pup. So dad had to back them up for me. Then he loaded the truck with sand and had me drive the new loader back up the hill to the scale because I couldn't shift gears and the ramp out was pretty steep. It was a bit of a learning experience for me and a laugh for dad.
  22. Yeh Bobo K&R had the skeleton of a superliner in the summer when I talked to him about it. I'm looking for 22.5 hub pilot rims for drives on my superliner I'm in need of all 8. I just have 4 old stud pilots on now so I can move it around the yard. I wouldn't mind at least 4 aluminum for the outside, I can always put 4 steel on the inside, thanks Dan.
