  4. T is for single axle tractor. ST is tandem axle tractor. SW is a tandem axle straight job. SWX is a heavy duty, tandem axle straight truck. There is probably a list of all of this stuff somewhere. An LJ is a heavier truck than an LF. There are better experts than me on this subject. Mike
  5. Yes. George's L model started with the sheet metal radiator shell. My parents have seen it at tractor shows down here in PA. I believe the new owner uses it to haul a steam traction engine to shows. From the pictures it doesn't look like it has been garaged or even waxed since he bought it. It used to be one of my favorite trucks. I bought an LFT single axle for $5000 a couple years ago. The body is great, but the engine is apart. I have $10,000 in the motor and it is still not together. It has the Lanova Deisel. There is a LJ or LF single axle with a wrecker body that runs and an LJ tandem parts truck near me for sale for $12,000. The single axle is a running truck with the gas 707. It is presentable condition, but would be best if it was gone over again. The tandem needs a lot. I haven't seen too many other L models for sale. A tandem dump was sold last year. The cab and body were great with no rust, but needed paint. They were asking about $7000. I don't know what they got for it. Nice running truck though. Mike

  9. Scrap price should be about $1500. Not too bad. $1000 would be better. We have an N257 with a continental. I don't know if any of that designation goes with the engine. Maybe it was repowered. Ours is a 1962. Fenders are shot, but the cab is pretty good.
  10. Keep up the good work on the truck. It is nice to see another fire truck saved. Like you said, it is a shame how many fire trucks get cut up. My father is cutting up a B85F right now. I think it is a 1958. It was from Reading, PA. It had a fully open cab, no doors. We saved the cab. Not much else good on it. A tree fell on the body before we got it. The radiator, shell and heads are off of it. I did keep the starter and will pull a few more things off. I doubt therer would be anything you need. The township is finally coming down on us. We will be cutting up a B42S dump truck. It is rusted apart and doesn't have a straight piece of sheet metal on it. After those two the white R685 is next, then a 1974 Dodge W300, then a FWD fire truck. I'll save the IH cab and engine(RD501) out of the FWD and the trans and transfer case from the Dodge. Mike

  12. Mike, Good luck with it. Unfortunately there is only so much one person can do. They will bring in a good bit of cash and a lot of room if they are scrapped. You have done your part. I just got the eviction notice from my free storage. 7 trucks inside, 5 trucks and 6 trailers outside. I don't know where I will go with it all. I will be listing a few things in the for sale section. I really like your AC. Probably will end up as a good trade in the end even though it hurts now. Mike
  13. Thanks. We might have had the most trucks there, but there were a bunch of people there with bigger collections than us. We just live close enough to drive them. The horse shoe is made of aluminum and it is pretty heavy. I was told one was stolen off a truck in a parking lot once. Sounds like our truck is coming along well. I hope to see it at Macungie next year. Mike
  14. I didn't take any yellow trucks. I still haven't gotten the ls running since Macungie and the 405a has brake problems and the rectifier is sparking. We hauled up the ac pumper that was the forth truck in the parade. Leversole drove my cf719f. I drove the b70 that says Blue Arrow on the door. Tom Smith drove the F715 that I bought of him and "39 baby Mack" and my father drove his green Superliner the says Reinert on the door. I asked Don Schumaker if he wanted.us to bring all of our Macks. He said maybe next year. I was a great time. As for the pictures: I think that is the way your truck was shipped.   16. Nice score. My AC is 7311280. It is a 1925. Back then they numbered the fire trucks in with all the other trucks. Mike
  17. Those pictures should be when the truck was complete. They were custom built. If you look at the build sheet you will get some of your answers. It will say "OMIT" on some things and will special notes at the bottom of some pages and on the last page for unusual options. You may even have some change orders. On the bottom of my 85LS build sheet it says in big letters, "THIS TRUCK WILL BE PAINTED YELLOW". It also has a note to gold leaf like another truck and lists the serial number. It was supposed to come with a chrome bumper then was changed to the steel bumper with the chrome strips. I am not sure if the chrome bumper was unavailable or they were trying to save money.   18. In the pictures it looks like there is a lot of fire equipment left on the truck. You're missing the ladders, but the brackets are still there. The steamer caps are still there. They are usually the first thing to go. You have a booster real, hard suction, rear spot lights. You even still have the red lenses in the parking lights. I would think they would be hard to find. The compartments are almost always empty even if you buy the truck right out of service from the fire house. It looks like a good start on a unique truck. What is the serial number? Mike
  19. Congratulations. Welcome to the forum. The truck was posted on here by two other people. If it wasn't on the other side of the country I would have been interested. You probably know that the Lanova is pretty rare. Unfortunately parts are pretty hard to come by. If you do get it running it would be a great truck to keep intact. If you don't, you should save the motor for parts. I had to buy a parts engine for my Lanova and still did not have enough parts to get one running. It is almost there though.   22. UFO's don't exist. Next you'll say Santa and the Easter Bunny are fake too. I think it.was wise to pass on that B. A good parts truck but not a good project truck. Starting with something better will save you a lot of time and money. Mike
  23. Reply. I would like to sell my A30/American that I bought earlier this year. The sheet metal is great, but needs a water pump and brake work. It should have a front mounted pump, but it is gone. Most people who want a Mack want something that is all Mack, but this is unusual. Mike
  24. No idea where it went, but I probably have the selling price and maybe the model in the sale information. I'm sure it didn't go for much. How about the round nosed trail behind it. I don't think they sold that. Mike
  25. Here is one more. It was sold at auction when Frames was liquidated. I think that was in 2009, but maybe 2010. This one I am pretty sure is a U model, but sorry, no serial number on this one either. Mike
