  1. Contact Cal Little at Pine Hill Trailer Sales in Hummelstown Pa. He has 707 parts for sale. He will want your old manifold to repair. Mike
  2. Here is my favorite part of Mack Day. 85 LS A model It only let me post 2 pictures, but that is better than none. Mike
  3. I'm not a big fan of people getting in my trucks without asking. A lot of people think that just be cause it is a fire truck they can do what they want. I can't tell you how many kids ran right and jumped on my AC pumper at the ATHS show in Springfield. On Sunday of the Macungie show we got back to the park there were several people in the cab of my Transtar with kids walking around on the frame. By the time we got parked they had moved on and the kids were in the back seat of my 85LS. I confronted the mother who was very rude. When I went to start the truck oil was pouring out of the dipstick tube. Someone had turned on the fuel pump and filled the crank case with gas. We shut it down right away and had to go home for a lowboy to haul it home. I drained the oil, but have not had it running since. The fire trucks don't have locks and the AC doesn't even have a cab so I don't really have a way of keeping people out. Mike
  4. The lft is still at the shop. I saw my mechanic at Mack Day. He said the fuel pump is out getting calibrated. After he gets that back it will go on then the compressor and it is ready to run. We will put the.front end on it at home. I hope to have it at Macungie next year. Mike
  5. I'll be in there both days. Hope to trailer the AC pumper with my father's Superliner and drive.a.couple others up. I live close enough to sleep in my own bed. Mike
  6. My thought is it does not harm except costing a little more and if it helps why not. Don Schumaker was an engineer at Mack and now is Curator of the Mack Museum so his credentials are not too bad either. I, myself, do not know, but I am willing to spend the couple dollars just in case. There are sources for leaded fuel and no ethanol fuel, but not near me or I would be buying it. Mike
  7. I'll be there with several trucks. I have the AC and F715 signed up so far, but will probably add a couple more. My parents will be there with their superliner. Back to the oil filter issue, my mechanic said he has some. If that is the case I will get you one. Mike
  8. I was talking to Don Schumaker from the mack museum about the Ranger truck from Berwick. They had had the engine out and got it running. I am not very mechanically inclined so I do not remember the specifics, but after a few month the engine was stuck solid again. They pulled it apart and found something stuck. I don't remember what, but he felt it was because of the lack of lead as a lubricant. He recommended that I add lead to the fuel in all of my old gas engine vehicles. Since that I have. Like I said, I am not a mechanic so I have nothing to ad to it. Mike
  9. I looked at the web site and the R model is a canopy cab. It only has two doors. http://www.firehouse.com/apparatus/10645519/5022-engine-in-town-response. Pretty neat looking truck. I like their chevy brush truck too. Mike
  10. Unfortunately there is not a good site to find the value of old commercial trucks. Value varies greatly depending as you would suspect depending on year, make, model, condition, rarity, desirability... I look on Ebay, Craigslist,Truck Paper, Wheels of Time Classified Ads and other sources for similar trucks to try to get and idea, but it is often impossible to find the exact same vehicle. If you post a description and a bunch of photos I'm sure you can get a million opions on this web site. Mike
  11. Yep, 9.00X20. You can put 10.00X20 on it. It might look better that way. I have a type 55 that came with 8.25X20. My father wants to put 9.00X20s on it. It would make it look a little better. We will make that decision when we redo the brakes. Mike
  12. Nice trucks. How about some better pictures of the Brockway. Is it a 258? Mike
  13. Hey 78 Hahn, How about you go to the Intro forum and tell us about yourself. At least two of us on here have Hahns. I have a 1964. Lets see some pictures of yours. I live near Pottstown Pa. Mike
  14. I've paid that much just for a 707. I knew it was running though. If anyone buys it would be interested in the left front fender. Thanks, Mike
  15. I have been unable to find filters. I run mine without a filter. It is only a by-pass filter, not full flow and you probably won't put many miles on it. Mike
  16. Doug, I hear you got the word from Don. Sheldon spilled the.beans. I have to get a.few trucks licensed before this. Is anyone looking to drive.a Mack to Allentown? Mike
  17. That is a really nice looking truck. Yes you should.have a professional appraisal. A guess is $25000. Maybe more, up to 40,000, if it is.a.good running truck. I'll give you $2,500 for it. Mike
  18. As of last Saturday nothing was final. I meant to call the Mack Museum today, but forgot. It was Dale Guth who told me about it. He is the guy who gathers all the information requested by Mack collectors. I will try to call Don Schumaker at home tomorrow. Then I'll get the story. It seems like too short of notice to me. Mike
  19. A truck show and a parade around the test track oldest to newest followed by other makes. I don't know if they will be able to pull it off. Mike
  20. Thanks. The yellow one and the F model next to it are mine. The others belong to friends. The B 42 at the far end is the nicest of all of them.
  21. They changed the fenders around 1948. My truck was built in 1947 (85LS1101) and has the old style fenders. Harvey Eckert calls these high crown fenders. You can easily see the difference when you compare them to the fenders on the truck above. These are the same fenders as used on the commercial L models. The others were only used on the fire trucks. I do not think they are not the same as were used on E and A models, but are of similar design. Mike
  22. I went to the notary today to change some titles on things I sold and asked about the use of period license plates on antique vehicles. I knew the law was passed, but did not know when it took affect. It is in affect now. You can use an old license plate in good condition for the same year as the vehicle to license a vehicle in the years 1909 or so to 1975. That is not the big new though. The big news, for those who do not know it, is that you are no longer required to submit pictures of the vehicle to get antique license. That means you do not need to cover up any lettering, gold leave, rust... It was like christmas for me. Here are before and after pictures of what I had to do to my F model to get license. Mike
