  2. I was at a junkyard yesterday and came acrossed a 1941 Heil gas tanker single axle, looks to be decent shape i forgot to ask how much they were asking. if any one is intersted i will post the phone# Ron
  3. Try disconecting the puff limiter, did that on a 90 CH E6-350 it helped but smoked alot more.
  4. Barry have you tried to get those old brass bulldog keys reproduced the ones back in the 60-70s i would buy a few blanks. thanks Ron
  5. the 5 speed,2 stick 6 speed,TRDL1070 10 speed, TRTXL1070 12 speed all have the same ratios in direct,but in overdrive the 10 and 12 speed are the same. 1st 6.68 2nd 3.89 3rd 2.21 4th 1.29 5th 0.78. you could put a 10 or 12 speed behind a maxidyne and shift it like a 5 speed then if you shift on a hill you could split a gear, i am going to put a 10 speed in my 58 B model behind a 237. Ron
  6. Rod i have a frame from a 96 CH613 with airride the frame from the CH is straight from front to back, just find out how long you want it. i sliped the frame over the outside of B61 up to under the back of the cab. i used the two holes on each side on the cab mount crossmember and clamped on the top and side drilled the holes bolted it together, did not weld anything. Ron
  7. Fred i was planning on going to Macungie but i had to work on my transmission on my B model so i wont be able to make it this year. i plan on going to the Watts Mack show, i will see you at Elnora this year. ( great show you guys put on down there ) thanks Ron
  8. Fred i hate to tell you the bad news but i will bet you have a loose valve seat, i had a couple trucks that had a thumping noise in the aircleaner when you rev and let off. Ron
  9. First thing you need to do is make sure the puff limiter is unhooked.
  10. I did it. the outer cam is a little longer with notches on the front of the cam that locks in, it is a good setup but there are a fine spline and a course spline, i had to buy a course spline to match the pinion 400 bucks, if i were you i would leave it alone while it is working.
  11. Either you have a sick running 400 Mack or a good running 350 Cummins, i had a 76 R model with a 285hp 5 speed 3.87 gears. for having ony 672CID compared to 855 for a cummins i could run with a 350 cummins all day long, it didnt matter if i had 80,000 or 95,000.
  12. You need a set of Bubble Back mirrors with MACK. the bulldog came i think in the early 80s Watts Mack should be able to get the arms.
  13. You might try to locate a RS600L (my Valueliner is a 79 ) my nephew has a 74 RS700L and his spring hangers are broke, we where looking at both of them and the hangers, front mount, cab mounts looks like they would interchange, the one i have has steel hangers on the front and aluminum on the back of the spring with the cab mount plus you can use the 3 leaf springs on the front, i thought a valueliner might be easyer to find. Ron
  14. On my R model i turned the axle nuts all straight with the axle and popped the hubcaps on they havent fell off yet.
  15. I heard a few months ago about a Cat branded truck, canot remember where i read it. wonder what engine they plan on using maybe International / MaxForce engine??????
  16. Barry at Watts Mack had some in stock at the Lititz truck show give him a call or click the B- model store and check there.
  17. I had Barry order me one yesterday, bought the air to air adapter kit for the intercooler a few months back, one of these days you wont be able to get them.
  18. Thanks guys it sounds like a good combo,i have to put a new clutch in so it would be a good time to change the transmission, one more question will the big driveshaft and U joints be too much weight for the rear bearings on the trans. i have 3 of those transmissions and they all take the small driveshaft. Thanks again. Ron
  19. I got a boot for my B, 4-5 years ago at Double Eagle and they had both kinds the phone# 1 800 227-4121 Shipshewana,IN. they build the one of the finest sleepers on the market.
  20. I dont know where Barry sends things to get chromed but they do excellent work, i have sent things to Advanced Plating in Nashville, Tennessee and they also do excellent work. chrome is not cheep.
  21. So the 10 and 12 speeds are wide ratio transmission like the 5 speed, you could drive it like a 5 speed then for cruiseing you could use overdrive to lower the RPM. i have 4.17 rears on 20" rubber, anyone no offhand what speed it would run. Thanks Guys Ron
  22. i have a TRDL1070 Mack 10 speed transmission i was thinking of putting in my B model behind a 237, i would like to here the pros and cons of the 1070, is it an overdrive and the same transmission as a 12 speed except the extra low gear. is it as good as the 12 speed, you here about the 12 but nobody talks about the TRDL1070. Thanks Ron
  23. I have 3 TRLD1070,s laying around, i was thinking about putting one in my 58 B61 237 hp 4.17 rears, i was wandering if they were good transmissions or if they had problems with the 10 speeds and how they would work with a 237, how fast it would run i have 11 22.5 tires hi tred. Thanks Ron
