  1. i was eyeballin those 417 gears leversole when i was down there pickin up the triplex out of that gem......
  2. Mike you should be ashamed at your pride and joy pale yeller and silver B61ST with round tanks sittin there in the weeds. looks like she needs some road exercise..........
  3. i believe that shit about the parade Mike. i went into this little side street bar for a dew or half a dozen cold ones. my fav kinda bar. rows and rows od taps and not one shitty anheiser busch product, all good craft beer. after afew beers these guys were givin me shit about my tattoo and said i should have a f ing Brockway tattoo when i come back next year.
  4. looks like some good parts there. hows the sheetmetal and the other truck? someone must have changed the radiator in that truck as is has the later style big radiator. the one with the angled top. it goes all the way to the top of the horsecollar and all the way to the bottom and has a recess to go around the horsecollar bolts. usually this style radiator was only used on later trucks with a 711 or 673 turbo.
  5. the power steering box is original, its a Shephard, the pump is some aftermarket add on. that truck would have had the pump mounted to the back of the generator. the later ones they mounted to the back of the air compressor with a pulley and ran the hoses under the oil pan with brackets. i have a complete RH Shephard power steering set up i took out of my B613 that has that same box. uses the standard size steering wheel but with the smaller 1'' center hole to.
  6. thats great, read that story first thing this am. kinda reminds me of the local guy around us who went to town with his tractor and manure spreader, full. went to the bar and sat there for a while and got a dwi on the way home.........guess he thought it would stick out......i do have to agree, there are SOME good cops but there are a bunch of assholes who make life rough tryin to be tougher than they really are and deserve their cruisers run over.
  7. Lowville whatever on the door.... and no you cant have anything! haha, i dont care. im finalcially embarrassed, just bought a Mopar Mack firetruck. and would love to have few more B model parts trucks ive been hunting for years. i would love to save that R model tho. needs a cab and old style cabs are gettin pretty rare to find. i found one off a site truck they were scrapping . prolly should have tried to save the second one but they were movin faster than i could.
  8. you gots to be cleaning some of that rust off before tryin to make it look all shiny! even a small angle grinder with a knotted wire wheel. go over it all, WEAR a dust mask and glasses, wipe it down with some thinner and use some rust primer. even the red oxide from ace or true value works, THEN paint over it with the shiny black. the doors are a pain in the ass but easy when you get use to it. easier to hang on the cab 1st, THEN put the guts in. makes em easier to hang and adjust when they are light to. and make sure you lube everything up inside that door panel with some chain grease or white lithium. youll thank yourself later. cant do anything without lubrication! and cuts are part of the job.
  9. yup, been watchin that truck for years. says lowville express on the door. one of these days ill try to save it. i agree on the winter stuff. stopped to look at those 3 B models in carthage and was greeted by 1000's of angry bees. thats why they are B models i guess. bees and hornets love old trucks. actually the R model in Lowville is complete all there, just needs a cab. i think the hood could even be saved. looks like someone backed it in and parked it.
  10. looks like it was a plow truck originally, it has the drop down crossmember and horsecollar to miss the radiator and let the pto shaft thru to the front. could be another reason it doesnt have a bumper. or could have been a single axle mixer, they ran alot of B42 single axle mixers back in the day.
  11. pictures can be decieving and looks like someone gave it an amateur paint job to cover up some crime. the other issue is the underpowered boat anchor under the hood. about good for drivin around town and will probably have to change the rear hogs head as it probably is geared for 52 mph. just a few things to think about
  12. hm i wonder what R model that is Vinny. would love to have that whole truck, old school r model, 673 natural with a 10 speed duplex and the front rear tire right behind the cab, a true ST. bet she rode rough. never called him, still got the number. 200 for the sled, hed probablty want 10 grand for the Mack and you can literally stand up in it and lift the top of the cab off with you hands, that is if you didnt fall thru the floor. i do remember it had beautiful green shag carpet in it haha.
  13. wonder what he ever did with the yellow steel nose R model he had about 5 years ago. brought us a B43 parts truck down on it with the 5th wheel hitch. probably sold it
  14. i think you need a B81 SX and just pull really hard...... trees with just float around it....
  15. think about truck Most of the time, the other 10% were thinkin about ''happy things''
  16. someone had a Mack fifth wheel like that for sale in wheels of time or double clutch about 10 years ago, same thing with Mack on the pedestals.
  17. yea Fetterlys Law doesnt require insurance, plates, mudflaps or turn signals. cdl is optional also
  18. maybe thats the Brockway golf cart. his other one is black and silver. and the Brockway guys dont understand. they hate us Mack guys and blame mack for doin away with Brockway. should have seen the guys giving me shit last year at the Brockway show for my mack tattoo
  19. take the vent window out and side door glass. its all flat glass, take it to a glass shop, have it cut and glued back in the channel.
  20. i saw a B47T at an auction in upstate ny about 10 years back, everyone was all over it so i left, found out it sold for $800 and wanted to shoot myself in the foot after. had dual 55 gallon round step tanks and a baby 673, which was a 465 i think, the Mack engine, not scania and an adapter plate with a baby quad behind it. only reason the baby quad lasted was the pump was turned down to 150 hp in the engine, real hill climber there haha. same guy went to another auction i was at and bought a B61 single axle with a monoshift, hole in the block, 4 brand new recapped back tired and a nice dump box for $200 bucks. another time there was a big crownd and i said screw it and left early. Dave Zsido in vermont had a B47 tandem axle for sale about 15 years ago, he gave it an amateur restoration, paint and a new chrome shell, had a rotten cab and he wanted $4500 for it.
  21. i forgot something, eveerything is the same but the front springs! B42 single axles usuaully came with 8 leaf front springs unless it was a B42X. B61's usually had 11 or 12 leaf front springs for the added weight. you could swap springs fron a doner truck or take them to a spring shop and have them add a few leaves. some B models had massive 3'' spacers between the springs and axle to but this gets funky in a single axle. in a dump truck you dont notice but a single axle if you put the big blocks in you may end up[ chasing it all over the road like a Ford truck with twin i beam junk under it or a worn out steering box. you also need to change the clutch shaft to a diesel one as the keyway is in a different spot on the gas jobs. it will all bolt up but wont let you adjust the clutch after its together, trust me, i found this out the hard way haha.the other thing that we mentioned before is the diesel trucks had the front radiator crossmember shimmed out 1/4 . this allows you to change the belts easier, found this out the hard way to, AFTER everything was all together and the fenders were nice and shiny. Matt
  22. jesus, hope nothin is wrong Rob. who is gonna be our new moderator to ignore my F bombs when i get pissed off about something critisizing my opinion???
  23. yea, mine has long since been removed and the previous owner cobified a holder from the older band clamp and bracket to bolt a new Mack spin on filter housin to. it works and it solid but looks rough, i never changed it but it work and now take the newer style green Mack fuel filter
