  1. some of them ran 1200 24's and others ran 24.5's which are 22''. and slow as hell would probably be around 48-54 mph, if that
  2. think youd be better off findin a newer set of 58 rears out of an Rd or Dm. that way youll have newer style everything and easier tire options. im not sure if you can get gears for the olders rears, the R is ratio 8.24, slow as hell, even with a double over quad box
  3. the early B models had the wiper motor under the dash on the linkage pretty much. a bitch to work on and leaked oil all over the damn place. Mike is right around late 58 they moved them to outside on the firewall. some b model firetrucks that were open cab even had wipers on the inside and the outside of the glass
  4. most i have bought off ebay with the Mack logo have a helicoil kinda insert bushing. lets you put it on either size shaft...
  5. 2?? why stop there. some of us have 5 or 6 or 150... Mike haha
  6. yup, has the water filer and thermostat housin of a 237 and spin on filters. could be an end673c. i think id just cut a hole in the bottom of the dump box for that air cleaner to clear haha. looks like the cab might be a retrofit off a B20 or B30 or B42 without the outside air cleaner? althought 220 cummins is right, someone could hve patched over it. sticks looks weird to, aweful far back in the cab... maybe its just me and also does not have the underslung radiator crossmember and horsecollar to clear the pto shaft that mixers and plow trucks had. must be pretty tough hearing old Waylon jennings on the cd player while listening to that air cleaner hose whistling all the air thru the cab.
  7. omg, a Bobcat with foot controls is the worst!! especially after getting spoiled by cat controls.
  8. i dunno my B613T with a triplex and 4.00 U model rear hogs head makes it interesting at 75-80 mph haha. plus its a lot funner to drive that a duplex.
  9. i think id get my hands on the box if not the whole frame. never seen that style steering shaft used in anything but a B75 series truck. i assume it might have been a B61 built with the kentucky radiator( B73 or B75) as we call them up north. maybe thats the reason for the steering?
  10. 4 levers and foot swing? not a problem, being precise, big problem, we are all spoiled with two stick backhoes and joystick controls.... hell i can barely drive a doxer unless the ac and radio is turned on.....
  11. i looked at the album on the 4 door R model that was sititn on the truck at the Washington county truck show. truck was originally a fire truck, regular cab, was really nice and they scrapped the pumper body and chopped the cab and another one and spliced them together. actually did a nice job. just not my style. plenty of R models around to choose from rather than cuttin up a firetruck but to each their own.
  12. thats on my want list someday. always wanted a single axle B75 with a triplex. price is decent if the cab is solid. good fenders can be found. has the old style 50's mirror brackets on it which is weird unless someone changed the doors... by 63 Mack was using the Delbar bracket that Watts sells yet and bolt pattern.. also must be a retrofit by Mack turbo.
  13. yup, does spice up the dash a little. my grandfather said the R400's he had and drove had the optional guage panel. they were 402's with 9 speed overgears and one was a chrysler 413 with an 18 speed double over. they had single tachographs and the guages off to the right. usually all thats there is the shiftin pattern and the headlite switches
  14. had power steering judging by the pics and the universal joint at the end. also def a b75 or 73. the B61's used a smaller column when they had power steering, just a short section and a u joint and usually a RH shephard box. this was the top of the line power steering i think tho. the cheaper route was the air or hydraulic assist which had cylinders on the drag link or tie rod or both.
  15. no turbo, not an END673T . most likely a END711, could be a 673P tho. the P stands for Powerram i think. seen it in an old advertisement showin the split intake manifolds.
  16. yup, common gasket that any glass shop should have, yup, put the seam at the bottom and if you paint with any paint that you use clear or high gloss, put some sealant on the pinchweld first! the old B models didnt use any sealant but when u repaint any of these suckers and clear coat anything the gasket wont seal to the pinchweld like it did back in the day when they only had straight or acrylic enamel paint.
  17. yup, b model style FA505 front axle with the hub caps painted.
  18. yup, definatley martine Senour paint. actually have had good results with Napa paint myself. while we are on the topic. were the B model firetrucks painted Mack red or fire engine red? and does anyone have the paint code for Old Mack Red? not the new darker shade that was on the R models.
  19. i remember the yellow R model back in 2005 or so, think it was on ebay.
  20. i want it, and the trailer, gotta find me a single axle lowboy
  21. wow, cab on that green dm looks pretty solid. yea, snake and bee season here in upstate ny. you dont dare go sneakin around old junk
  22. my 300+ has a copper colored bell housing, copper colored block thats been painted black and orange heads and valve covers.i know it was rebuilt not that long ago. guess its a mutt of a few different years? and the block is stamped end675....
  23. sweet lookin superdog. triaxle, spoke front wheels, the better lookin(in my opinion) round headlights. all it needs is a coat of wax and an extended angled bumper on it.
