  1. This is the most authentic Rubber Duck there is. Dan Bruno put a lot of time & effort into this. It actually has parts from one of the original movie trucks and I think it uses that VIN. The trailer is one of two used in the movie as well. Dan sold the rig several years ago to Brad Wike who I think has since sold it and it may be in Georgia. On another site Dan did post pics of his new Western Star that will look like a "modern day" Duck truck. Single exhaust, blacked out, etc...
  2. Actually an Ultraliner (MH) across the street...
  3. ODFL has Autocar spotters. One of our two (hopefully our new 3rd will also be) is an Autocar and the guys really like it. It runs hard about 16 hours a day and the only real issue we have had is that the rear door won't stay open and the step catwalk directly behind the cab (against it really) has come loose a couple times, I provided some locktite for the two nuts/bolts and that seems to have done the trick so far.
  4. Some of that good, quality, Chicago lawyering..... Not only the Mayor but the Police Chief and Union are down right pissed off about this!
  5. I think they each weigh a bit more than 10K. I still carry some of my towing equip/tools on by K2500 Chevy and with my concrete ballast for the blade in the bed it weighs in at 7,100# without the blade. I ran it across our scale at work & it was 3,280 steer, 3,820 on the drive.
  6. We purchased 4 or 5 of these in the mid 1980's used. They were late 70's/early 80's models and they had the long grab handle. These were great little city tractors. Power steering, A/C, with a pup you could almost do a u-turn on a city street with them.
  7. When I'm having a bad day and wondering what could be worse I just simply tell myself "Terry, Look at it this way, you could be the safety director for Swift".
  8. In Sept of 2000 I traded the 1993 K1500 that I ordered new for a 2000 K2500 that was on the lot for nearly a year and acquired 46 miles moving snow on the dealership lot. Mine is a 350 gas engine but has the cold weather package on it. In 19 years I've put 191K & change on it and a few grand in repairs, tires & maintenance but it has really never truly let me down. I think I'll be rebuilding the transmission soon but I just don't seem me replacing it any time soon.
  9. There is no doubt from which tree that apple falls! Congratulations to Mikey & Abby!!!
  10. When I was selling Mack's, in the previous century, often our Sales Manager would order extras of a spec if it was mostly typical. That is if customer "X" ordered 8 he would submit an order for 10 thinking that he might be able to talk the customer into the 2 extra as they would not all arrive at once and sometimes the end of the order might be months out. The other option was to just add the extras to the floor plan to have new stock. A long time customer ordered several RD's & RB's every year & we would always add on 3 or more to each order. There were several other customers who ran the same spec just because they had bought some of these "overages" years earlier. It is a sales advantage to have a common spec on the lot that works well for several customers.
  11. Merry Christmas Everyone!
  12. Actually a runaway in Ohio, Starting out in Walbridge (Toledo area).
  13. It's also not an R Model.
  14. A first gen Cruiseliner with tubes all around and a straight bumper. About a 1 in a million! Nice score.
  15. Dan had a complete explanation of Sam Peckinpah's reasoning behind mounting the 5th wheel so far back but I cannot remember what it was. I wish Dan would have kept his site up or that someone else would have assumed control of the Convoy part of it. The research he did and the details that he had about the movie were incredible.
  16. I remember reading about this apparatus within weeks, maybe days of the attack. It's really cool to see that a truck, 60 miles away, was known by someone, operating at this large scene, who could make the call to get it in there.
  17. I was also surprised to see the CF F Model. A very interesting truck. I, too, would like to know the entire back story on this & how many there might have been.
  18. It would be nice if someone could track down Dan Bruno to see if he would allow a site, such as BMT, to have all of his info about the truck(s) and movie posted again.
  19. https://www.facebook.com/Rubberducktruck1970/ From what I understand via FB it is now in GA.
  20. In my younger days I had two 1978 Trans Am's. A black automatic & a gold 4 speed. County roads & large parking lots could make for a lot of fun. I just called them "doing Rockford's"!
  21. The XJ8 isn't much fun in anything but sunshine. It likes to hydroplane in heavy rain and I have twice looped it around at the top of the exit ramp from I69 south bound onto US 30 west bound. Both times very cold, but mostly dry roads. Somehow I found the only small slick spot there was at the top of that ramp but managed to keep it off both the inside & outside walls. The 2nd time it happened I did a little better job of keeping my wits about me. As she came around I bumped it into neutral then when we were rolling backwards I put it in reverse, nailed it, cranked it around and back to neutral then into drive and drove out of it almost like I knew what I was doing. Maybe Hal Needham wasn't the best choice of hero's when I was 13, 14, 15....
  22. I really like my XJ8. At this point after 4 years it is probably going to be replaced however. I hate to let her go. I like the response from the 4.0 It's amazing to me that such a small V8 can drive so well & get such good fuel mileage.
  23. I've been texting with him this morning. All y'all know he can be a bit bullheaded, well..... He had trouble logging into the site quite awhile back so he just doesn't try anymore. I'm trying to beat him up & get him to reach out to Barry to rectify the issue. We'll see if I did any good or not.
  24. I haven't spoken with Mike in a while but he is posting pics on FB so I know he is still kicking around... He had some health, some personal & some computer issues a while back and last I knew he could not get logged into the BMT site (possibly lost his password) so he hasn't been here. I will make it a point to reach out to him & see if he can work at getting back here.
