  1. that was it, 24" rubber and spoke unimax front axle. The wheel bearings do not come apart and mack says they should last a million miles without service. It is easy to service the brakes on a hub piloted axle but not with spokes. This was the first spoke unimax axle ive seen so it must have just come out. It looks like the spokes and brake drum unbolt for service leaving the wheel bearings intact off of a inner flange. pretty cool
  2. There are plenty of guys here in nj still getting 24" tube rubber on their heavy spec tandems. Nothing like 11.00r24s in the dirt on a tandem dump. New york city still gets 12.00r24 on alot of their new trucks. there was a new granite on the plant tour last sat that had 24" rubber. it also had a unimax front axle with spoke wheels. i was in love.
  3. I have a 711 na in my 65 b-81 anyone have a paint code for the light green that the engine and trans were painted? Thanks in advance
  4. well thats nothing new they were cast by dana for many years before meritor go t the contract
  5. if i remember right there is a pad with #s on the top of the center section this is where the ratio should be and there are also the axle #s on the right side axle tube visible when looking from the back of the truck
  6. was that color sceme your design or was that a companies color sceme ? Pretty neat, not to knitt pick but you need a set of bulldog mud flaps(like what Barry sells) in place of the car quests! Nice truck tell us more about it
  7. So NYC DOT had some of these crew cab r's in service as dumps etc? Being from NJ i would have thought I would have heard of one so I guess they didnt have too many. Boy some more pics of these trucks would be cool(like seeing one pic of a crew cab r isnt cool enough)
  8. way cool! any idea what the new vent windows are going to run?
  9. nice shots doug, i bet that E-9 barks. What arre your plans with your new purchase? How bout some pics of it too. (I guess you have to have a superliner I and a superlinerII right?)
  10. make sure your not assuming that someone changed the truck over to 22" spokes from 20" when someone might have just put 22.5" tubeless rubber on it 22.5" tubeless rubber fits on 20" spokes tubeless rims are not flat all the way across where tube rims are and have a lock rimg on one side
  11. hey green dump were you working on the union paving job on 33 in neptune? and dumping concrete at manzo's in matawan?
  12. thanks for the pic thad, i thought it might be that T ride junk. boy does that suspension look expensive to rebuild with all those torque rods. I dont think yyou will ever see the elimination of camelback and i dont think any one whos going to buy a mack is going to buy that junk but then again I see some macks specked on hendrikson walking beam (one of the worst in my opinion). Its just anouther option in the catalog i guess
  13. It wasnt as popular as the r 600 but if someone wanted a vendor motor they got the 700. Roadway had a zillion r 700's with 318 detroits so they were around
  14. look at the torque and hp curves on the new motorrs....can you say old school maxidyne?
  15. I just read the article that Thaddeus posted about the mr replacement and they said it was available with mack M ride? what is that is that suspension and why in the world would someone get it over camelback? anyone have any pictures of it?
  16. i believe single external or dual external were an option regardless of engine here is a pic of Yaworskis last production superliner and it has twin air cleaners on an e-9
  17. v-8 macks could be had in dm 800's. i dont know if all of the v-8 dms had dual exhaust but they had twin pipes on the pass side of the trucks with one being taller than the other (staggered) really neat trucks
  18. in New Jersey you can get special constructor plates that alow you to carry 70,000lbs on a tandem, . tri axle you can haul 80,000lb. tandem tractor and tandem trailer 80,000lbs and they rarely inforce axle weights just gross.
  19. there are four main parts to the power divider. the outer drum $350, which is attached to the pinion, the inner star shaped cam $150 thats attached to the trough shaft, the peanuts $150, and the cage $600 that holds them that is attached to the input shaft(your yokes attached to it) there are two sections to the housing that goes into the rear center section. remove driveshaft unbolt the first section that is attached with 6 3/8 bolts ( drain the oil in this sectio first) then remove the pinion section remove the bolts and use jack screws to remove from housing. there are shims between this and the center section that adjust pinion depth so dont loose them or pry between them. now you can take your 3" socket and clamp pinion and remove 3" nut and press drum off pinion press bearing on new drum and press back together and tighten nut to 800 to 1200 ft lbs. now you should be able to spin pinion in housing by hand there should be resistance on the bearings as they need to be pre loaded but not so much as you cant turn by hand. if its too loose or to tigh then you need to use a different spacer between the bearings to get the proper preload. now look at yor cage and if the holes where the peanuts ride arent worn out just install new peanuts and reuse your cage and save your self 600 bucks. do not re use old ones or ones from a different set. now reasemble the reverse of removal remembering to re install your shims and the new inner cam. i hope that helps
