  1. Wow John your the best! Thanks for posting!!
  2. With the interior panels your best bet is to find a auto upholstery guy and have him reproduce your door panels since the dark green is nla. The chrome ring white needle guages are still available from Stewart Warner, and nos ones come up on ebay from time to time. I have to tell you I have been around many R models all y life and have never seen an east coast R model with an aluminum door, so your best bet might be out west where they were more common.
  3. Oil filter is still readily available. Cross reference it into what ever brand you want. Mack # 236GB311A Fleetguard# lf577
  4. With the wheelbase of that truck, I doubt the ride is going to be that harsh and air ride probably isnt worth the work. Plus, with the rarity and uniqueness of that r700 I would not change the factory specs.
  5. I believe that we have a Govenor that will listen now that has already reeled in an out of control njdep. Write him a letter about how it is affecting your ability to earn a living. I did, and so far I feel that Christie might do something about it if he gets enough feedback.
  6. Look at Reid sod farm r700 in background! 8v71 in that one.
  7. They would definately need that armored cab in Paterson today
  8. Mack used the tip turbine up to 86, with the end of the two valve head. They also made a 350 hp tip turbine engine that was a real strong runner. It was a good package, just that you had to make sure the filter and tip turbine were in top shape or else your pyro temps would really start to climb. This is the case with every tip turbine equiped mack but more much more important with the 350's.
  9. Neat looking truck. Keep digging up those "old school" pictures. Hope someone could tell you some new info on it.
  10. I dont think anyone is in the rt1 building. My bet is that it is going to be torn down. Cambria moved to Tallmadge rd in Edison almost across from Campbell Frieghtliner, they are in a building that is easy to miss as it does not look like a truck dealer. They have Volvo, Peterbilt, Autocar, and GMC franchises. As far as Macks parts system, parts for the older trucks are getting harder and harder to get. Mack offers a lot more than other truck makers would for 30+ year old trucks, but more and more parts are becoming nla. Up until the late 90's it was amazing what Mack used to have parts wise available for its trucks. I personally felt that it was started under Renaults knife where they started cutting slow moving parts numbers, and it is only getting worse under Volvo. Volvo is renumbering all of the Mack part numbers with their own so that doesnt help the matter. Someone needs to tell the bean counters how important a great parts system is. A perfect example of probably the best is Caterpillar, but I think that Mack of old used to have one that was right up there with them.
  11. Thanks for the tip, I will keep that in mind. Good Mack parts guys are harder and harder to find these days.
  12. Ive never seen that "block off plate" between your brake control valves in a b model before. It looks to have the same patina as the dash, what is it covering? Every b model ive ever seen has either had air valves there or nothing at all.
  13. What dealer did you buy it from? Horner?
  14. Thanks for the compliment. I am from Holmdel, in Monmouth county. Its probably not the truck since it lived out in Bayshore Long Island all its life until '05 when I bought it. I only worked the truck for a couple of weeks having fun with it and then its been apart getting restored. Its about 85% complete now. Where are you from originally?
  15. Good looking MH. I love seeing these "when they were new" pictures
  16. Is that your company logo on the bunk or some kind of rawhide graphics package? Nice truck. What are the specs?
  17. leave the Texas square bumper for the kw's and petes. if it was me i would leave it with a single stack too, that bunk is too nice to change.
  18. I had a 86 RD that had the base interior and it was tan.
  19. Think you could post a pic of that "deluxe" green interior? I have never seen one.
  20. The larger gas engine equipped b models had external air cleaners. The side vent on the pass side also was eliminated in some external air cleaner models and repalced by an outside/underhood air selector. Some diesels had the side vent under the air cleaner bracket and was functional. Dont forget the b-75 and b80/b81 style cabs with the drop down drivers floor.
  21. Brake block should be available. Here is another option if you cant get it from an aftermarket supplier. http://www.allfrictions.com/productsservices.html
  22. Your truck with 55,000lb rears should have 18" brakes and the parts store counter guy prob doesnt know that brakes come in sizes that are bigger than 16.5". You should have the cast shoes with bolt on lining. I know for a fact that all the friction material, hardware and brake drums are still available either through the dealer or through the aftermarket. Just look in an Euclid book.
  23. How have these transmissions been holding up over all? The range syncronizer better than in the 200 series?
