  1. Have you checked the spray pattern of the nozzle? If it is burning in a small area outside the piston bowl, that might indicate a poor spray pattern.
  2. Still looking for a nice used LH single chamber steel air tank (part number 22QE1269M or 22QE4907M). I will be at Trucktoberfest, Hagerstown Power Day, Winchester, and Gerhart's. Carl - I may need to contact Dave. Midway tanks are gone.
  3. In June I replaced the RH (dual chamber) air tank because it was leaking air (red needle dropped quicker than the green needle and I could hear air leaking at the step bracket). In mid-July I noticed the green needle drops to zero (0) within an hour or so but the red needle stays above 100psi (after several days the red needle will eventually drop to zero but that is not my concern). I have three (3) hand valves - RED (trailer), YELLOW (parking), and BLUE (tractor). When I am connected to the trailer I only pull the YELLOW parking valve. When parking just the MH I pull the BLUE valve. When driving the unit, both needles stay together and drop pressure at the same rate. IIRC, the compressor kicks in at about 100psi and charges to 130psi. Using the drain valves, the RH tank secondary side has pressure but the primary side and the LH tank have no pressure. I also checked the trailer tank and it has pressure. First am I correct to only pull the YELLOW valve when parking the tractor-trailer combination? Second, I cannot hear any air leaks. I would think I could hear an air leak with the green needle dropping pressure so quickly. The other night I pulled all three (3) valves and the green needle dropped as before and red showed pressure. I am eventually planning to replace the LH (single chamber) tank but as I mentioned, I cannot hear any air leak. Any suggestions on where to look or what might be the issue? Thanks for any suggestions.
  4. Larry, As I suggested, remove the hose on the inlet side and look at the fins. Pull the exhaust and look at the outlet too. Try "wiggling" the wheels to feel any sideways movement which would indicate bad bearings. Also look for evidence of oil on both the inlet and exhaust sides.
  5. Truck is geared for 56 mph based on my calculations (4.62 ratio with 11R22.5 at 2100 rpm). Spicer TR722 5 speed transmission. How much to change axle ratio or OD tranny?
  6. Does a bear shit crap in the woods? Count me in!
  7. Doug M / Randy FWD, Are either of you planning a tutoring session at the Nunnery (alias Tilted Kilt) on Friday September 9th?

  11. Powertrain is EM6-300 with TRDL1070 (with 1, 2, 3, and 4 OD gears blocked out). Transfer case is Mack TCS-15 (modified TC-15). Front axle FABCO SDA-16 4.61. I posted the article in WiKi that was published in December 1986 issue of Fleet Owner.
  12. Mike, You need to snag this one. Not sure if it was originally a UPS truck (no roof faring and MACK on the grille). I read in an article about the 4WD MH, the configuration was available for production. Do you have a VIN? The museum would be able to identify the original purchaser. Would be interesting to know how many were built.
  13. Goofy old fatman....I am sure that description fits several of us. Barry will likely announce a BMT noon photo.
  14. Yes. Notice the extra steps under the bumper and the battery box/air tank.
  15. Barry, I plan to attend with the spudmobile (MH) and trailer. Extended forecast is for chance of rain. Hope it will be a nice day.
  16. Denny, Any contact info? Never mind...I located their website. I will give them a call and find out if and where the Mack can be inspected.
  17. Bob, I plan to be at Watt's with the Spudmobile and trailer. Watt's show is a great show third or fourth to Mudcungie, Trucktoberfest, and Gerhart's. Larry, Congrats. I may make Ashland next year.
  18. How far is Halifax from you? If you get bored, go for a drive, and check it out. Dutch Valley has a big parking lot. I see RVs there and I am sure there have been semis too. DV has a "stuff it buffit" so you better just drive on by. As you are driving east from Sugar Creek, go down the hill, at the traffic light look to the southeast and you will see a big restaurant. That is DV.
  19. Nice pics as usual. Did you get a good look at the R in Halifax? Phone number? Watched many a tug/barge on the Illinois River when I lived near Peoria. Impressive! BTW, was on Route 39 last Saturday, drove by Belden Brick on the way to Walnut Creek/Berlin. Did you eat at Dutch Valley Restaurant or didn't you have time?
  20. Mike, I was not there and I have witnesses to my whereabouts. And I know nothing. "Never did know anything." - Scrooge

  24. Al, Here is an older video of the cabover and conventional. I do not remember seeing the conventional recently but it may still be around. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAN61N4_hms A video of the conventional https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lxfBVWPnlww
  25. Billy T - Farmer 52, yeah that might be a stretch, It got a lot of media attention when it was built! I've never driven past it, Used to stop at the little truck stop near there. Thanks for the reply. Truck stop near there? Nothing close to their headquarters which is about two (2) miles south of RS on Route 36. Where was the truck stop and do you remember the name? BackinBlack - Farmer do theystill own the Drag Racing v12 Kenworth COE? I think so. I have not seen it this year but saw it last summer.
